I visited this hotel several times over the years while my son attended UCSC. I was so grateful to have Hyatt Place as a lodging option. It’s a friendly, accessible option with large, attractive rooms & bathrooms. Breakfast is included which is always a cheerful way to start your day. There are a handful restaurants in walking distance. You can also take a longer stroll down to the boardwalk or over to the heart of Santa Cruz’s shopping//dining area.

Like most hotels - the rates can vary dramatically based on supply & demand during peak times - so, sometimes it feels like you might be overpaying.

The location was great as it was close to every place we wanted to visit in Santa Cruz. It was clean and the staff was amazing and very friendly. The valet employees were so nice, polite and friendly. The front desk staff was also very kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would def stay here again with my family.

I have a two year old and our check in time was set at 3:00 pm per website. We arrived at 2:30 and was told to come back at 3:00 pm, which was fine. We decided to go shopping and came shortly after 3:00 but ended up waiting until 4:30pm until our room was ready. It was frustrating to see so many other people check in and get into their rooms right away. Having to wait that long with a two year old was challenging. We waited 1.5 hours from our actual check in time and it delayed the plans we had for the evening. We had to cut our plans short since our two year old had a set bed time.

This was only our 2nd time staying at this hotel and I was impressed both times. The employees are helpful and friendly. I like the location. The breakfast is amazing, big variety. The room was comfortable and clean and we didn’t experience any noise issues. It was easy to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc and the employees were quick to help with anything we needed. The pool and hot tub added to our stay and the area was secure and clean. We stayed on the 3rd floor and I felt safe, especially with the elevator key cards.

Only thing would be cost for parking but I can’t think of anything else.

Breakfast was good, but a little more variety would be appreciated especially when there is an extended visit like for us, but it was good.

Soccer team upstairs we’re running around all night & up early the last couple of nites during our stay which made it hard to sleep in. They were running back & forth directly upstairs from us which was echoing in our room. Everyone in our room was sound asleep but I could hear it and was not able to sleep after that, cause I needed to sleep to get ready for our early flight.

This was a very clean hotel. Friendly staff. My room was oddly enormous, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The valet parking is extra, and there was no choice but to use it. This was not a big deal, but an extra expense I didn't anticipate.

Great breakfast. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Clean room. Suggestion to change the soap bar to the soap gel since the water is very soft, and soap does not removed easily. Another suggestion is to open the swimming pool earlier then 10am. I would like to swim before breakfast, and since we need to leave at 9am, we could not use it. Great gym, very clean. Suggest to have cleaning whipes in it to clean the equipment. Thanks for your great hotel. Hope to be back.

Check in and check out was quick and easy, valet was always timely,and our room was spotless. It was also the perfect size for me, my fiancé, and our 18 month old and his pack and play + toys. Breakfast was great with lots of different options.

The only thing that was inconvenient was not being able to use cash to pay for incidentals. I use cash more than I use debit or credit, so it would’ve been nice to have that option. Not that big of a deal, just keep that in mind.

Location was great only a real close to the beach/boardwalk but not so close you have traffic. I liked that the pool was surrounded by the actual hotel, gave me the feeling it’s secured and no randoms are just going to walk in. I actually felt like the sq footage was larger than advertised I was very surprised by the size of the room that was great to walk into.

There wasn’t much to NOT like. Maybe the key for the elevator thing that’s pretty inconvenient. But other than that I couldn’t think of anything

Location was great. The facilities were clean and the beds were comfortable. They accommodated us with more blankets when needed. Loved that they cleaned the rooms daily. Also the fire pit with s’mores was a great option.

I did not like that there was no microwave in the room, pool area was kind of small when a large number of people were using.

Breakfast was great!! They were always replenishing the food, they were very busy but kept up. Pillows on the bed were wonderful!! The pool was very nice and private. The kids loved it after walking the boardwalk all day.

The drain the the tub was not good. If someone took a shower the next person had to wade in water up past their ankles.
