Good location, a short walk from Muswellbrook Railway Station. Friendly & attentive staff. Food was impeccable with prompt service even on busy nights. Plenty of different areas to sit and enjoy a drink from the bar including a Beer Garden and a separate smoking area. Shared bathroom facilities were well kept and very clean as was the room we stayed in.

The windows looking over the street were very dirty and outside was covered in bird droppings and feathers built up over years - Cleaning this and the roof area below would make all the difference, we know it's an older property and very reasonably priced but this was a major off-putting sight that could be rectified without a lot of cost. Obviously, the road outside is noisy being right on a roundabout and lots of trucks and trains going past, but we were aware of this.

as a fellow housekeeper for another hotel, the room and service is exactly what i like my guests to experience. extremely grateful for the aircon after being out in the sun all day in 37° weather. didn’t have a chance to give the bar or bistro a try, but id definitely like to be back to. the bonus was experiencing my first earthquake (i honestly thought someone was in my room at first when my suitcase fell off of the bed)- so was quite confused there. thanks for the great stay!

Terrific regional pub with all-around great vibe and top facilities and very professional team running it.

The rhythm of local noises such as coal trains are all part of the great vibe, and I found the bedrooms are well soundproofed. Maybe heavy curtains in front rooms might help provide slightly better sound proofing, light and heat control ,just a thought?? I have always had good night sleeps on very comfortable beds, thank you.

The rooms are amazing, the bed was one of the best beds i have slept in. so easy to check in plus the shower are great. Inside the Royal bar area all i can say it look like a picture out of a magazine. I come up for a 50th Birthday Party

I have hear about this The Royal Breakfast and I have hear it on The Big Sport Breakfast plus at the Birthday Party people ask me where are you staying at and i said The Royal Hotel " They said the Breakfast is a must before you leave. This is the hard part they dont do breakfast anymore

The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was really comfortable. The TV was large. The bathroom (ensuite) was very clean, good water pressure. good quality linen provided. The room was air conditioned and also hahad a bar fridge. Tea/coffee making facilities were available. excellent value for money I ate in the restaurant- lovely meals. good size

I liked how you get left alone and the bedrooms have a slide window ..very lovely staff and would recommend to anyone ...lovely hot showers

Just wanted to experience room with balcony but it was already booked ..nothing else to add ..I still feel like I'm whinging ..having to leave that comfy bed was something as well I didn't like to much ..

Convenient and good value for money. spacious room and quiet

No PowerPoint in the shared bathroom and alternatively there was no mirror in the bedroom. Due to the age of the facility I would like to suggest full length mirrors be placed in the bedrooms near a PowerPoint. It allows for guests to dry and straighten hair and check their clothing is right before going out. Using the camera on selfie mode on a laptop really was not a good option.

Cool little pub stay. Great little country pub.

Balcony room is the smoking balcony. People were drinking and smoking out there till midnight. You can hear everything. Their empty bottles and cigarettes were cleaned for two days. The room has a really musty smell. Needs to be aired out but hard to do with a communal balcony.

The food was excellent. The room was a great size

The shared shower had no water pressure and the soap container did not work or we were not provided with any soap and it was the shampoo dispenser that did not work
