Exceptional location against the hills looking across the golf course to the ocean. Idyllic night sky with mist drifting over the mountains. Jen and Warren are fabulous hosts. Jen made us two reservations at wonderful restaurants the Strawberry Tree and Zephyr. I am sure without her wizardry we would not have got into these great places. The next day Jen made us a Jen gin and tonic. She could be an honorary Canadian as it was exactly as we make them at home. Koura Bay Golf resort is an outstanding home away from home. The rooms luxurious spotless well appointed and so quiet. We would highly recommend Koura Bay for all travelers and particularly if you are looking for a golf resort.

What’s not to like!

The location between the mountains and the coast was absolutely amazing. The staff member we saw onsite was so friendly and gave great local recommendations.

There wasn't anything to dislike really, I think some other reviewers need to realize this isn't an inner city hotel with 24hour facilities. The club offers a limited menu but the food is really good and the hours reflect the remote location.

Lovely setting on the golf course with the mountains as backdrop.. Quiet and no fuss small hotel to stay at when touring . Car easily parked close to the room. Lovely welcoming staff !

Some rooms have windows as well as sliding doors .. ours didn’t so at night we had to leave the door open to let some fresh air in … we were ok with that but maybe request one room with a window if you’d rather keep the doors closed. It is pretty safe being on the golf course anyways.

Great located between mountains and ocean. Rooms are new renovated, spacious, stylish and convenient. Staff very helpfull. As a guest you can play golf for free : fantastic! The Bar, restaurant closes at 6 pm - be prepared. Breakfast is in your room/ fridge: toast, yogurt, coffee, tea, cereals . So if you love cheese, ham, eggs, juice - whatever, you will be on a diate.

Lovely setting overlooking golf course. Spacious comfortable room. Hosts were lovely! Golf course included in cost..a very pleasant 9 hole course. Bath was a bonus. Only a few kms from Kaikoura. Loved our stay.

Slightly noisy neigbours either side if room. Breakfast in the cost of the room...but very basic. Bar meal options were very limited

WOW! The resort and golf course are incredible. Renting the golf clubs was 30 NZD and we were allowed to keep the clubs in our room. The course was large and really well-kept. On top of that, the rooms had beautiful views, great amenities like a fridge, bath, and dining table, and we absolutely loved the comfy bed. The staff were incredible and we just had the best stay. We also met some amazing people with wonderful life experiences while we were there. We will be back!

Me and my husband enjoyed the stay at Koura Bay Gold Resort. Amazing hospitality and very spacious room with beautiful view. Everything was above our expectations. We enjoyed watching sunrise from our room which was just mind blowing. We will definitely visit this place again and recommend this to everyone 😊

The room was clean and comfortable. The view stunning and very quiet. Perfect for a game of golf or to sit and read a book. The Front of House/ Concierge was just lovely. Friendly and helpful. Other staff that we met were also friendly

Room is a little cramped if you want to sort toast etc but doable.

Great rooms with amazing view of golf course and sea beyond. Course was lovely only got to play once due to rain. Warren was so welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back and telling golfing friends about the resort

in the off season they are not open for dinner but gave us great recommendations for local restaurant where we had a delicious meal

Room was great, nice having the table & chairs outside the room to relax at night. Staff were very helpful and friendly, ... made you feel very welcome.

When I booked it said 'Breakfast included', .... but this ended up being 2 packets of cereal & some Vogels bread with butter and jams ?? When you read breakfast included in a hotels description, you expect a cooked / continental breakfast as this is what it normally is, ... on the website it should be more specific and say bread & condiments are provided & stipulate that the resort doesn't have a kitchen so no meals are provided. Just need to have clearer messaging.
