Kevin and Ann treated me as a family . Kevin took me on a tiki tour and I got the chance to see the lovely baby and mum seals .I enjoyed the walk on the beach and had a great time with Fatty Bob .I even spent half a day on the lovely farm , It was so calm with the cute animals . Ann made me such nice meal and even dessert :) After a long ride from Dunedin , I barely ate anything . It was home , my second home in NZ. They are such warm-hearted people and I miss their hugs a lot . They made my stay in Kaikoura comfortable and complete . I am looking forward to seeing them again .

I wish i could stay a few nights more .

Incredible place, amazing hosts. After 3 weeks of traveling in New Zealand staying a night or two at many nice places, our stay at Kaituna Homestay was our TOP choice! First, this incredible home is located in a heaven of peaceful nature. We could enjoy the amazing garden and walks, the jacuzzi outside, and the cute animals all around. The room is huge and super comfortable, like a hotel suite. Second, Sharon and John are wonderful and caring hosts, we felt like at home. The breakfast was delicious and better than in restaurants. We left resourced and happy with incredible memories. We will definitely come again, and stay longer.

The property was very homely. My grandmother and I stayed in the disability accessible room which was perfect! the room was very comfortable and very clean! breakfast was amazing, even with me being vegan, they had many options for me! Kevin was absolutely lovely and super friendly, a great host! Bob their Springer Spaniel was definitely a massive highlight for my grandmother and I! I could not recommend this stay more! Lovely farm with many animals to see!

absolutely nothing! the loveliest place!

We were welcomed by Fat Bob the dog & that instantly filled us with joy as we had both left our dogs at home and were missing them terribly. Our host showed us around the house, made us welcome and stood and chatted with us for ages. In fact, his wonderful knowledge and interesting stories made our holiday, much more enjoyable. The house was spotless, and every care was taken to make sure we enjoyed our visit. Breakfast was a delightful surprise, well-presented and lovingly prepared. I would recommend the property to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Waking up with the mountains behind you and the sea not too far in front of you was a treat. Kaikoura is an interesting town and there is plenty to see and do there.

Maybe our room could have been a bit larger with a bit more room to put our clothing. Everything else was spot on.

Stayed in the two double bed rooms and host offered the ability to combine the two beds together for a king size bed. The breakfast was lovely & amazing, both filling and delicious. We also loved that the host took time to show us and let us meet the animals they have (sheep, pigs, alpaca, chickens, etc). For us, it was the perfect distance away from town center. It was nice and quiet at night, which made it perfect for stargazing too on a clear day. Hosts also put up signs with neon reflective arrows to direct you to the B&B, which was super helpful when arriving after dark.

Nothing, the stay was wonderful! Hosts were very accommodating with check in time.

Everything. Awatea is gorgeous and Kevin is the consummate host. He shared fascinating local history and great travel tips, and we enjoyed an absolutely spectacular breakfast (we feasted like royalty). The property is beautiful, our room was immaculate, spacious, ultra comfortable and the complimentary lavender toiletries (from the local lavender farm) are divine. Thank you so much, we adored Awatea & Kaikōura and hope to return soon.

Nothing - my sole regret is that we didn't stay longer. LOVED IT ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rooms and ensuites were clean, spacious and very comfortable. The indoor and outdoor lounge areas were spacious, well maintained and had games for rainy days. The freshly cooked breakfast was beautiful - with fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cereals and the fluffiest pancakes! SO good! The host was friendly - one child staying when we were there and he took her to feed the animals. He also gave us great recommendation of what to see and where to eat.

This place and its hosts are simply fantastic! Kevin has a wonderful sense of humour and is very engaging. Making us very welcome to his home. The house is set in a rural position, just a 5 minute drive from town. The rooms are large and exceptionally well equipped. The little touches they have added make a massive difference along with all of the local lavender products to use. Not only a hairdryer to, but hair straighteners! That's a first. The breakfast was beyond compare with everything fresh and lots of options. Not sure if it was Ann, Kevin's wife that produced the amazing pancakes and cooked breakfast, but it was first class. Before we left, Kevin treated us to a tour of his animals; chickens, alpacas, pigs and cows. The baby piglet was very funny. Plus two well behaved spaniels. Thanks for your great hospitality, such a shame we were only able to stay one night. Even if you weren't planning to go to Kaikoura just go to stay at Awatea Country Bed & Breakfast! Warmest regards Nick and Jane

Kevin & Ann were very friendly and gracious hosts, and made us feel most welcome and comfortable. Their setting is just outside of town and quite serene. Their food was plentiful and delicious, and they were very flexible in accommodating our early departure. They have a variety of animals on their property which are fun to stroll around and see - only one inside their home, a perfect gentleman of a dog named Robert (or Fat Bob to his friends!). We would enjoy visiting their place again and would highly recommend staying with them!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Kevin was very welcoming and accommodating. Flexible and easy check- in. Spacious room, VERY comfortable/supportive bed with plenty of pillows. The shower was great. Breakfast was also delicious and much appreciated! Great value and beautiful location! Couldn't recommend enough.

Our bed/headboard squeaked pretty badly with any movement (but this was easily fixed by putting a towel between the wall and the headboard). The walls were also pretty thin, and you can hear all the other guests. Thankfully, everyone went to sleep at a reasonable time, so it wasn't too concerning.
