The staff was exceptionally accommodating and friendly. We left the lodge early most mornings and they provided us with packed breakfasts which we appreciated immensely. The buffet dinners and breakfasts were delightful and accommodated various tastes. The room was perfect and for what we paid, we received more than we expected. The rooms were cleaned everyday and it really felt like our home away from home. I will certainly come back, the lodge was outstanding, affordable, and in the prime location to get to areas such as Graskop and access the park in no time.

I simply can't find any faults with Umbhaba, we were so happy with everything however the coffee machine was not operational and we would have liked to have had a cappuccino after dinner.

OMW! What a refreshing place! Definitely coming back. Everything is just perfect. Very warm staff, everything is clean, the beds are comfortable, the room is nicely decorated and don't get me started on the food - delicious & generous portions!

The water was always hot. The buffet options were impeccable. The staff were very friendly and warm. Special thanks to Siya who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Very calm setting. Beautiful traditional dance performance around a fireplace.

The air conditioning did not work when set to higher temperatures. The ladies responsible for cleaning arrived well after 13h00 (there was no communication that this would be the case). Communicated prior to arrival that I was lactose intolerant and the chefs seemed very surprised to learn this information from me, like they weren’t aware.

The place is exactly like the pictures the place is really clean from the inside and out side, The house keepers were patient and honest, they cleaned every single day, the beds were so comfortable, the bedding was clean. Both the Chefs from breakfast and Dinner really Outdid themselves, we enjoyed all our meals I liked that it was a Buffet, there were different kinds or food including African Cuisine at dinner we also enjoyed the deserts everything was exceptional 😀 the Reception was warm and welcoming it was worth every Cent I will definitely visit again soon

On check-in, the staff welcomed us warmly. The lodge is clean, staff has good attitude, and willing to help us. We just felt at home. The room was exactly what we booked, spacious room, bathroom and the patio. Most days of our stay, it was raining, so we couldn’t do outdoor activities, they had. But they helped us book for a spa massage, we appreciated that. The staff made my birthday special, so grateful ☺️ our stay included half board, they accommodated our dietary restrictions, food was delicious 🤤.

The room was bigger than I expected. Bed was very comfortable. Loved the shower and entire bathroom space. So much light coming in and the view was spectacular. Dining area was always so clean and food was enjoyable.

Some of the windows did not close all the way through. The sliding door also had a gap when it was entirely closed and locked. Bathroom mirror can do with some elbow grease.

Breakfast was great, there a choice of different kinds of breakfast meals. Location was perfect as its central to many amenities and nearby attractions like Elephant whispers, Skyway Trails to name a few, and a gateway to Kruger National Parks Phabeni which is also a 15min drive, and an hour and a half to Three Rondavels and anything in between the travel time becomes shorter. I will be returning back to Umbhabha Eco Lodge with a partner this time around. I will even stay longer.

I didnt like that my room has small ants passing through under my room door, and in the bathroom there was also a cockroach, but the bathroom was clean spotless though. So if they can make sure that outside the rooms by the door area, insecticide is sprayed often to kill the ants and any creepy crawlies like cockroaches that seep through below the door. Thats the only thing I didnt like.

The food, entertainment

The place was beautiful however, there was a terrible smell in the evening, we were not sure if it was a sowage or the toilets next door, we had to endure that terrible smell to two days. That was the only unpleasant thing about our stay. The rooms also where quite plain compared to how beautiful the place was. I would advise to look into your ventilation system. I wouldn't want to smell poo that's coming from next door. It was off putting

The hotel is very clean and not very busy. Has good facilities and located near shopping centres/ malls. View from our room was amazing.

Breakfast options are so limited and restricted on what is available. For the price I could have had a better breakfast elsewhere. For example, they didn’t offer sweet stuff like muffins or savoury treats. Only breads was provided. The rooms are clean but could do with air fresheners especially for thatched rooms overlooking the river.
