All the extras-plentiful breakfast with lots of options from hot & savory to sweet. Also we enjoyed the wine social and the snacks in the afternoon. Popcorn and cookies were a bonus. Also the coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and ice water available anytime in the lobby hallway were very much appreciated.

I thought there was too much plastic waste in the breakfast area. Plastic cutlery and cups could be switched to stainless steel and washable coffee cups. Especially being so close to the ocean, one-time use plastic is something to be addressed. Otherwise we will definitely stay here again when we are anywhere near the area. 100%.

Loved the very friendly staff. Bed & Breakfast feel. Great breakfast. You could definitely tell that this is NOT a chain and is independently owned and operated. Wine and cheese hour at 5. Fresh cookies at 8. Much better breakfast. Large room. Close to outlets and restaurants. Closer to other areas of interest also - Manteo, Cape Hattares and Bodie. I will definitely stay there again when I need a room in that area. AND it was the least expensive of any of our rooms! We had been traveling for 5 days prior in other areas. We stayed 3 nights here.

The bed was too hard. But that is the only complaint. Everything else was excellent. The best place we stayed over the 10 days we traveled. We stayed here 3 nights.

Room was clean & beds very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Love the evening wine social, most nights a lot of the guests stay and chat with one another….meet new friends! Spectacular view with oceanfront view!! Breakfast choices were amazing & delicious!

Only disappointment (though totally understand)is during this stay management decided that the breakfast menu had to be reduced. It is still a very good breakfast!

good central location, easy access to the beach, provided a room close to the elevator for a handicapped guest, it's a secure facility, clean, comfortable, and of course the breakfast is a bonus.

the volume on the TV was bearly audible and could not be adjusted. It 's good I don't watch mutch TV. The news would have been very helpful especially since FL was expecting a hurricane, but we could ot hear unless we stood in front of the screen. ( room 301) Wish it were not quite so pricy. I'm 78 and appreciate your security and comfort along with the other amenities, but have to save all year so I can afford the off season prices for a few days. I come from 9 hours away, and yes I could stay in a cheaper place, but I don't feel safe in a motel of partying college kids.

The location was excellent. The breakfast buffet was amazing and had everything you would want. They offered several hot dishes, waffles, pastries, cereal, etc. The facilities are somewhat dated but in very good condition. Everything was very clean. There was a lot to do, indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, corn hole boards, wine, cheese and popcorn in the evening, cookies before bed. Several ice machines available to fill coolers, free use of beach towels and chairs. Washer and dryer available on site. There was plenty of free parking. We stayed in 6B and had an excellent view of the ocean and it was fairly private. Our maid service was excellent. We had fresh towels and trash emptied daily without having to request the service.

There are two buildings, we were in the second building and it did not have an elevator. We had to climb four flights of steps to our room, it would not be handicap accessible. The shower was acceptable but the water pressure was a little low imo. The bathroom was small but worked just fine for us. The breakfast was amazing but it didn't start until 8, some people may want to leave before that.

Love the oceanfront view. Wish it had been a little warmer so we could have sat on the balcony. Very nice bar height chairs on the deck.

I wish the indoor pool had a connected access to the main hotel. It was cold and windy so we didn’t go over to it. The TV didn’t want to connect to the news we wanted to watch. Also my husband is allergic to beef and pork so breakfast was a disappointment for him. Chicken or turkey sausage or bacon would have been nice. You don’t have to have both but at least one or the other.

1. We loved our ocean view (not front) 2. The bed was SO comfortable!! We slept so well. And there was no noise from the rooms above us and beside us (and there was no vacancy so the place was packed). 3. The breakfasts were epic - the food was real and delicious and served. 4. Loved the little wine and cheese hour (not the best wine, but a fun time to mingle with other guests. 5. The pool was clean and delightful. 6. The room cleaners were so good. We loved the place and will definitely go back.

Both ice machines were out of service for a couple of days. In the middle of summer, that wasn't good.

I liked how professional & helpful the front desk staff were. I didn't have any issue checking in or out. I really was amazed on how clean the facility was kept. It seemed to me that housekeeping & maintenance staff worked around the clock. I can tell that the funds or revenue that the hotel makes it poured right back into the hotel & its staff. my wife and I really enjoyed our stay & we will be back there soon!!

I didn't like the view from my room #402. I would rather have a full oceanfront front view room. But the room was clean & spacious. The only other concern I had was that I was looking for a light switch for the balcony. I guess it comes on automatically. But the bugs were so bad out there with the light not being able to turn off. The balcony is my wife's favorite place to sit & relax.

The breakfast exceeded any buffet at a hotel. Quiche, wrapped to go pre-made hot sandwiches(variety),grits, sausage gravy, bacon, corned beef hash, hash browns(cubed breakfast potatoes with skins on), make your own waffles, biscuits, fresh fruits, juices, yogurt parfaits, cold cereal, assorted muffins(banana was my favorite), coffee and tea, breads and bagels. Happy Hour 5-6pm Wine and cheese daily Fresh chocolate chip cookies at 8 pm daily. Indoor pool and hot tub other building. Outdoor pool closes at dusk. Complimentary beach chairs! Pleasant staff. Very helpful front desk.

Signage for smoking section absent. The alarm in my room went off at 7:00 am. During vacation I sleep in.

Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a very long time. I felt like we were in a high end restaurant receiving out standing service . The food was the best. The service from your staff, Amanda and Elvia was also outstanding, thank you to the both of them. Room was clean and comfortable. I will recommend the Surf Side Hotel to all my friends.

I liked it allllll. When I left the hotel I made the comment that this is one of the best run hotels I have been to in many months.
