Staff were friendly and welcoming. The cooked breakfast was of good quality.

The continental on the breakfast choices weren't great the pastries were over cooked and dry. Our room was due to be cleaned every day we were there yet was only cleaned once when we mentioned it to reception. When we arrived before 10pm the outdoor door was locked and the emergency number hung on when it was phoned. We were not the only customers waiting. Also on our last morning there when I asked for the traditional breakfast I wasn't told there were no tomatoes till the breakfast arrived when I should have been told when I ordered and it replaced for another item like a extra hash brown or extra helping of mushrooms etc

Very pleasant, friendly staff. I was in a wheelchair, everyone was very helpful. Evening meal in the restaurant was very good & reasonably priced Breakfast the next day was also very good. There was only one girl working for what was a busy service, she did a fantastic job & kept smiling ! I think there has been a shake up of staff / management at The Raven, we stayed for the August bank holiday last year, when things were very different Wouldn't have gone back again, but for having read some recent good reviews.

As I said I was using a wheelchair (hopefully temporarily) the ramp down to the reception entrance is good ... the large step & awkward double doors into reception not so good !

Extremely comfortable bed and good pillows. The facilities in the room were very good.

Around 6.30pm we ordered a Sunday roast. I think we were the only ones eating at that time. I so regretted ordering this. It was the worst roast dinner ever served to myself and my husband. The meat was delicious but the vegetables were awful, hard and tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding looked impressive but was like leather. The gravy was served in ridiculous tiny gravy boats but the gravy was so thick it went on my food in lumps. I did order more and this was the same. I'm not a picky eater and don't normally complain but having this opportunity, I'm glad I can write this. Shame, because everything else about our stay was very good.

Nice single room up flights of stairs overlooking the car park towards the railway station. A fan was already running in my room as the outside temperature was 32 degrees. Good size bathroom with bath and shower. Tea/coffee/ Kettle on hand. Pleasant old Tudor building with several floors. Loved the breakfast option of smoked salmon and eggs of my choice. Would definitely stay here again.

Evening meal of scampi was sparse and the tables needed refurbishing. Several small staircases to negotiate.

The staff in hotel is amazing! All people were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect if you travel without a car, because the distance from the train station was just 2 minutes. The hotel has restaurant, thus there was no need to go somewhere else for dinner.

Need to bear in mind the hotel is located really close to the train station and the hotel is really old, thus no sound isolation makes you feel you're sleeping "outside", the noise is huge and at summer, when it is really warm, there is no air condition in the room and you'll have to open the windows and "enjoy" all the train station vibes. Moreover, the room's walls were really transparent for all the sounds and you can literally hear all what's happening at the neighbor's place. The floor was old and very creaky, thus you'll hear all the neighbor's steps. Bear in mind to purchase good ear plugs.

Location super Price great Cleanliness excellent Very comfortable beds Friendly and very helpful staff Room size and facilities lovely Breakfast - choice taste and price The staff are attentive and could not go more to assist

Communal area of the hotel side of the business appear tired and worn and the decoration in the room show signs that it needs attention. but this is only cosmetic and does not detract from all the positives about The Raven

The location was excellent, I was attending an event in Basingstoke and was able to catch the train a 30 second walk from the hotel at Hook and was in Basingstoke within ten minutes. There was a vending machine in the lobby for snacks and drinks, the pub next door wasn’t loud at all, and there was lots of shops within walking distance, including a Tesco on the other side of the train station. The staff were friendly, special shoutout to Yolanda who checked me in, incredible sweet and welcoming. The room was larger than most hotels I’ve spent twice as much on. Everything you could want for the price, would definitely stay again if I needed to!

Nothing, it was perfect from start to finish.

Though a busy pub, noise was not an issue as with other venues i have been too. The bar was a relaxing experiance with a good people who though an outsider was most welcoming to all. After having such an sound sleep wasn't able to try the restaurant for Breakfast but as it was pay on demand it wasnt a waste.

poor Communiction between staff meant, waiting in the hotel reception despite be assured that a members of staff would be down shortly, before some one accidentally came across me sitting in the reception area to get me booked in.

The location and parking

Only shower over bath available, for someone with limited mobility a shower cubicle or wet room would have been much better. Also cold tap produced only warm water , which seemed to be more prolific during high use times, morning, which kind of seemed to be because the cold water feed pipes must be located so close to the warm pipes that it heats up when people are using showers in other rooms

I have stayed here before. It is handy for the motorway and close to Farnham and Alton to see friends. The bed is comfortable, it is very quiet there is no outside noise. The shower and bath facilities are excellent and so was my full English Breakfast.

My only gripe is that the car park needs the white lines marking out as they have worn away. It is difficult to see where you are supposed to park. A security light halfway down would be helpful too.
