I loved the baby goats and lambs in front of the hotel that greeted us on arrival! Very quiet, even the main road close by seems to fall asleep for the night. It is a family run place in a very old house, therefore, not very modern, however, there is all you need and it felt truly rural. We asked for a hair dryer and iron with a board and it was handed to us with a smile. Reasonably priced breakfast.

It was a bit hard to find a place for a longer walk, everything was fenced off on one side and there was a road without a pavement or any side walk on the other side. Fortunately they had some private road with animals on both sides and nice views.

The setting was lovely and although out of the town was easily accessed. Parking available. Only met one member of staff but he was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean and beds were particularly comfortable.

Breakfast was a little sparse, probably the only downside of our stay. We were offered a cooked breakfast for an additional £7 but other than that there was only the option of toast, muesli or cornflakes. Perhaps a selection of fresh fruit, croissants, pastries?

A breakfast of cereal and toast with tea or coffee is free. Porridge, cornflakes or Weetabix. Cooked breakfast is extra. we just had the free breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and everywhere was very clean. The house is located on a farm with sheep and cows and just next to the main road from Sanquhar to Kirkconnel. Owner very welcoming. Lovely views from our bedroom and peaceful spot.

There wasn't any television service, we just wanted to see local news and weather.

This was an absolutely lovely place to stay. We were there for a couple of nights to attend a wedding nearby. The suite was perfect. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and a wee caramel shortbread were appreciated. The hosting was lovely and very welcoming, helpful with local info, attention to detail and perfectly cooked breakfasts to meet our individual preferences. I highly recommend this wee gem of a place.

The owner had time to talk was interested in what I did. Very Friendly & welcoming. I had the continental breakfast that was included in the price however a cooked breakfast was available at £7.00. The room was large as was the bathroom, great views across the valley and to the hills opposite. Quite quiet despite being just off the main road. Nice touch was there was some sweet snacks in the room as well.

Nothing the stay was fine.

A beautiful setting in old farm house. Very comfortable bed in a warm room and a brilliant friendly host. Well recommended. Breakfast was good too at a very reasonable price 10/10

Nothing to dislike at Rigg House. Beware the local takeaway if you order for delivery. It was shockingly bad and the delivery driver tried to rip me off £15.00. Do not order from the Sanquhar Spicy Hut, it really is bad.!!!!!!!

It was in the area I wanted to be. Quiet location and very spacious comfortable room. The room was very clean and had a lovely view of the countryside. I arrived early but that was not a problem at all and I was made to feel very welcome.

Although others were staying I was on my own in the dining room for breakfast. It would have better if there had been a television on or radio so I wasn’t sat in silence on my own.

My hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and filled with fascinating works of art. Bedroom and bathroom were airy and spacious and scrupulously clean

Would have welcomed wider selection of fruits, especially fresh ones, at breakfast. Jams were prepackaged; I would have expected jars of honey and marmalade in an establishment of this standard. The proximity to a main trunk road meant early morning disturbance

Great friendly welcome, clean comfortable rooms and fantastic value for money. Also a lovely location.

A good outdoor seating area would have been lovely for in the summer evening. Also the bed was a little lumpy though we only stayed one night so not a serious problem. Not enough towels..there was only one bath sheet and one hand towel for two people.

Spacious room and separate bathroom. It felt like a very private and secluded first floor suite. Lovely view. Rustic decor and swathed in art. Clean and crisp bed linen with very comfortable bed and pillows. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Rural setting with good off road parking. Breakfast was amazing; especially the bottomless filter coffee. Just outside the front door is a fantasy play area for children and pens featuring friendly miniature goats and friendly sheep.
