We had the pleasure of staying at The Great George Hotel in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from May 14 to 19, 2025, and it was an exceptional experience overall. The hotel is beautifully maintained — spotlessly clean, full of historic charm, and tastefully decorated. It’s located in an ideal spot, right in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, within walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. The staff were outstanding — consistently polite, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Their hospitality really enhanced our visit and made us feel truly welcome. While most aspects of our stay exceeded expectations, we did feel that room service could have been better. It didn’t quite match the high standard set by the rest of the hotel, but it didn’t detract significantly from the overall experience. Prince Edward Island itself is a beautiful and peaceful destination. The stunning coastal views, relaxed pace, and welcoming locals made our trip unforgettable.

Breakfast was great and the customer service was exceptional. I’ve experienced hotels all over the world and this was some of the best hotel staff. All were friendly and happy to help at any given point. It’s quite obvious that working conditions are amazing. Will be more than happy to book again for our next summer.

My only complaint would be details of cleanliness. Blinds that desperately needed to be dusted, bathrooms that needed to have more than one roll of toilet paper, duvet covers that needed a good wash and mainly just dust. I’ve never been someone who focuses on little details but those certain things should be at an exceptional level for no matter what room you pay for. I run a busy spa and attention to those details make an huge difference. Other than that, it was an amazing stay.

The location was ideal, and the hotel featured a beautifully renovated and well-decorated structure reminiscent of an old house. The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet, and it was well-managed, with 24/7 access to complimentary coffee and cookies. The breakfast offered was both delicious and fresh.

After a lengthy drive, we arrived at the hotel and requested early check-in by a couple of hours, which was unfortunately denied by the reception. We returned to the hotel at 3 PM and had to wait about 20 minutes to check in. Additionally, we were informed that parking was available on a first-come, first-served basis, a detail not mentioned on Booking.com. The hot breakfast could also use some improvement. While the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful, it seems that the receptionists could benefit from additional training in communication.

I stayed just one night, which was lovely. The hotel looks like apartments by appearance, but its inside is so gorgeous in the lobby. The lobby has quite interesting, attractive varieties such as piano, books, board games, photos of celebrities in frames, and others. It preserves stories and histories of the hotel and Charlottetown. Young staff welcomed us in check in and served us with professionalism and kindness, which made me very comfortable during my stay. It is located in downtown and close to the sea. The neighborhood was/is so safe to walk along streets. They have a small parking area near the hotel and street parking available. Coffee, tea, and water are provided 24 hours in the lobby. The breakfast was well served and fresh. Sitting on various seats of sofa or table chairs is also unique. They are selling interesting books including special cookbooks. I received a little handbook of a cookbook as a souvenir.

Another good memory! The Great George has historical and present stories with founders, town people, guests, the staff with fascinating curiosity and pleasure. Thank you very much for the support and its preservation. I was lucky to stay there.

The historic building is magnificent. Being at the Great George is like a trip to the past. The decoration and furniture are in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the small details such as happy hour for guests, and having water, coffee and cookies at the front desk at all times. Our room was neat and clean. The bed was super comfortable and we were lucky to have a room facing St Dustan's Basilica. I would highly recommend others to stay at this gem to get the full feeling of beautiful Charlottetown.

I liked everything.

This is a fantastic hotel. A series of heritage buildings renovated about 20 years ago. The main building is filled with antique furnishings and just screams class everywhere. The staff are gracious and friendly at all turns. Breakfast is casual and cosy with good breakfast choices. Parking on site for free. Right in the heart of the city yet very peaceful. Lots of local art, restaurants, bookstores, and amenities within walking distance.

Nothing to dislike at all. It would be nice to have high fibre cereal like shreddies or kellogs mini-wheats as one of the choices.

breakfast was SO good... especially the overnight oats! rooms were spacious, with lots of room at the foot of the bed to walk around. staff was so friendly, gave us water bottles for day trip around the island, unexpected and so nice! loved that the rug in the hotel elevator changed from "good morning" to "good night" at the appropriate times, loved that they provided umbrellas near the doors... it was just the little touches that made everything so lovely.

Was promised a gift card if we omit room service during our 2 nights stay. I forgot to mention during checkout, the staff didn’t anything as well. I emailed a day later, no response still. I also left my pants there and the front desk told me on the phone that housekeeping didn’t find anything. It’s a $10 gift card, which a negligible amount, but if it’s promised from day one, i expect them to followthrough.

This hotel surprised me! When we first got to the reception area, the open reception area had furniture and design of a traditional old Victorian house with its different authentic pieces of tables, paintings and even the piano! It gave a very comfortable feeling. It’s very authentic in its idea of design and the structure of the different rooms. Our room had a balcony that we used in the evening to sit and relax at! There were cute seatings outside in a common area that you can use if you wish. The room inside is modern and updated. The bed was so comfortable and the place in general was super clean. I would definitely return to this hidden gem should I return to PEI.

We missed the free drink and socializing in the great room as we got in kind of late next time going to be there early to enjoy the fun times downstairs. The breakfast was amazing the room was nice and clean. We booked the upstairs Suite with the hot tub in the room it was awesome.

I want to be able to stop in there on the way home some night and have a drink with who's ever staying it would be nice
