The room is spacious , the bed is comfortable , the hot meal breakfast is delicious. The Thursday steak nite was value for money - steak was delicious .
Quite dark in the room . The dressing table lamp did not function , and was not repaired over the 5 -day stay. The water drainage in the bath tub was very slow , causing the bath tub mat to be slippery . We needed to be extra careful when using the shower in the bath tub . The cleaning maid would do the rooms after noon instead of the morning. At times, the cleaning service forgot to replace 2 drinking water bottles , and the bath cloak . The continental breakfast croissant would need to be added when finished .

The bedroom part of the room was fine and the bed was very comfortable. The coffee provided in the room was good, and the air conditioning worked well.
The lighting in the bedroom was very low, almost too low to read by. The shower room was much too small with nowhere to put eg clothes while showering or a sponge bag. The room between the shower room and the bedroom on the other hand was mostly empty space, as well as a large bath, a wardrobe and coffee-making facilities. Overall the design could have made much better use of the space. The bar food provision ended at too early an hour.

Very well positioned. Very clean. Breakfast very good, enough options for everyone (eggs Benedict... yummy 😋 )
No designated smoking area, if you are a smoker the only place is outside, in front of the hotel. Though, there is a small terrace (openair), next to the private parking where smoking wouldn't bother..... But this is it ... There's no private parking for the customers, you must park on the street (if you’re lucky to find a space ) and must pay 10 extra £. Limited options for dinner (food and drinks),but don't worries, take a short walk and you'll find a lot of great pubs for everybody's taste.

We had a lovely night staying at Malmaison whilst in Cheltenham for work. Our room was well equipped and comfortable with a lovely big bay window. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent. The bathroom was a tiny bit small, but it had everything you'd need. Be very careful around the heated towel rails, I accidentally touched it when climbing out of the shower and it was scalding hot. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant (amazing steak and fantastic negronis) and then relaxed over a glass of wine and game of Monopoly in the comfort of the bar area. All the staff were lovely too. Recommended for when you feel like treating yourself.
Just the accidental collision with a very hot towel rail

The hotel has a lovely relaxed vibe with plenty of communal seating areas in the bar and restaurant. The reception staff were brilliant at attending to our few requests and were accommodating and approachable. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of continental options and table service for freshly cooked dishes on the menus. There was an internal courtyard that would be lovely to take advantage of in the good weather months and a conservatory ( out of action during our visit) that would be lovely in the summer months. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Malmaison as an excellent location for all that Cheltenham has to offer.
We appreciate that the hospitality industry is suffering in all aspects due to the ongoing economic downturn. However, to maintain Malmaison's reputation as a prestige, 4 star brand, the on-going maintenance of the fabric of the building has got to be addressed to maintain it's reputation. This cannot be placed on the shoulders of the staff who do an excellent job of running the hotel. There were many unaddressed maintenance issues in plain sight to visitors, that really shouldn't have needed to be brought to the attention of the staff. I'm certain they felt embarrassed for us having to mention but a few. Come on Malmaison group.... support your staff, they're doing a great job for you. Don't embarrass them by short-changing the upkeep of the building.

Staff were very friendly and the hotel was comfortable. The food was very good indeed.
The decor was too stark. The bathroom was poorly lit and the bath itself far too narrow, making it difficult if not dangerous to get in and out. The lighting in the bedroom was also really poor, with an enormous lampshade on the ceiling which was far too large for the room and did not generate sufficient light. I really do not like music being piped through the public areas, at all times of the day and evening! It was generally too loud and we had to ask for it to be turned down.

The location was fantastic. The staff were cheerful, polite and helpful. The Hotel bar was good and the breakfast has a good selection
We upgraded to a club room, however we had a few issues. The bathwater was only luke warm, the towel rail was not working, the chair in the room was ripped and there was a net curtain missing on one of the windows which meant that we had to draw the main curtain when we were in the room. However we were given a good discount to make up for these issues.

Breakfast quality and options were first class. The bar was excellent. The onsite barman makes amazing cocktails! The location was the main selling point and it didn't disappoint. Staff were excellent and anything we needed was seen and tended to immediately
The room we initially got put into had a few issues. After explaining this to the concierge, they rectified it immediately and we were put into a similar room which was perfect. The air conditioning in the room was a little too hot for us and not simple to use. (Our only negative)

Breakfast was excellent with real orange juice, lovely fresh fruit salad or museli and custom cooked full English plus croissants. Room very well equipped, public rooms very comfortable with attentive staff and really easy parking. Location for the literature festival could hardly be better. Centre of Cheltenham yet so peaceful and leafy. Lovely town to visit. Will certainly return next year. Great having a large drop off zone in front before parking overnight.
Would prefer a walk-in shower, but did not ask for one.

We stayed in room 327.when we got to our room was roast hot, we turned the heating off straight away . We turned the fans on straight away and opened window. Went out and when we returned the room was still boiling, we then turned heating controls off. That night we had no bedding on and was sweating . We felt like we was being roasted alive . At 2 am we both had freezing cold showers to cool down . Very little sleep even with the window still open. Lovely hotel and this is the only complaint
