Staff were lovely and helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable, location was great - a 2 min walk into town. Parking available across the road in a public car park - just be careful, 'cos Car Park wardens are on the prowl at 10:00 on a Sunday morning when the overnight free parking ends....

Didn't appreciate the messaging at breakfast - almost rammed down your throat by the staff and the video screen cycling over the same powerpoint slide that practically said "If you had booked direct, you could've had a cooked breakfast - instead, as a punishment for booking through a 3rd party, please help yourself to a continental breakfast or pay more for a cooked one". Gluten Free offering was very limited.

Property was very clean and beautifully decorated, we were very lucky to have found a parking space outside of the property. Staff were very helpful and friendly, couldn’t have been more attentive. The only downside to our stay was that we were in the room next to the stairs and had been woken up by sounds of other guests who had been going to breakfast or checking out. Otherwise we would have given our stay a 10!

Not anything we didn’t like just unfortunate our room was next to the stairs and had been woken up by the noise. This couldn’t have been helped. Also our bed was 2 single mattress together with a sheet over and could feel the bar in the middle during our sleep.

Absolutely gorgeous property. Exceptional welcome and attention to detail throughout. It was beautifully decorated, spacious and air-conditioned with high ceilings and quality furnishings. Staff were delightful - friendly and helpful, warm and welcoming. Treats in our room on arrival with a cup of tea were a highlight. The mini/maxi bar and 24 hour coffee and snacks for guests was another highlight. Beautifully prepared breakfast buffet. Absolutely everything we could have wanted. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Wish we could have stayed longer. This is a hotel that understands understated luxury hospitality. Can’t recommend highly enough. A true gem.

The Hotel was in a fantastic location to venture out into Cheltenham and onto the Cotswolds. The room was exactly as pictured. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of simple little touches that make this stand out for me like bottled water in your room, a cork screw, wine glasses and a little piece of cake from the pantry. They think of everything, even down to Oat milk in your tea and coffee pot in the room. They have a dog section in the restaurant with blankets and biscuits if you take your furry friend too. Wonderful place the stay to explore the surrounding areas, would definitely book again.

Affordable and far more stylish than even the pictures led me to believe. I didn't love having a downstairs room, but at least it had a window. Walking distance to great food (try Porketta and their 'nduja panzerotti for a fast bite — the hotel's recs were too fancy and closed too early for me). Nice staff. Absolutely loved it and would stay again. P.S. Cheltenham is a big town, would move on to a quieter village if you're really trying to experience the Cotswolds.

Downstairs room a little dark and musty, but the cute decor and great price made up for it.

Very good location just off Promenade so close to the shops and restaurants. Room 49 is beautifully decorated and feels recently renovated. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Beds are comfortable and shower / bathroom generally is good. Air con also works well considering it’s such an old building.

Very little - but just worth noting there are no lifts so if you have any mobility issues or poor health, ask for a ground floor room.

The George was super dog friendly, even providing a basket and a mini hamper full of dog goodies! Our dog was also allowed down to the breakfast room. The breakfast included in our booking.com rate was the continental. It was great though, fresh melon, pineapple etc overnight oats with raspberry compote and lots of choice of pastries toast etc The location was great for the Cotswolds and it was walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars in the evening. The staff were super helpful too.

had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was incredibly spacious, with beautiful design details and a very comfortable, super-large bed. Everything was spotless, including the bathroom, which featured lovely elements that really added to the overall experience. The location was perfect, within walking distance of both the city center and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, which made it incredibly convenient. Overall, everything about this stay exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it.

The George is centrally located and very handy for the whole of Cheltenham. It's a comfortable hotel and some effort has gone into both styling and ensuring a high quality of beds and internal fittings. Breakfast is good, if a bit expensive.

Central location means awkward parking. The hotel is built from a number of houses knocked together, which makes rooms awkwardly small for what's in them (two cases in a Queen room would have been a challenge) and I found it both rather hot and rather noisy overnight. I was surprised to not find a bar; checking through the literature says there's one nearby, though.

Friendly welcome, and easy check-in/check-out. Nice touch with the freshly baked biscuits in reception and room. Room was tastefully decorated, and the whole hotel vibe was very relaxing. We didn't the restaurant at all, so no comment there. Nice 'mini-bar' items held at reception. Soap/shower gel was lovely. Great location for the centre

Loo seat needed replacing - it was a wooden one with chipped paint. Temperature for shower is SUPER sensitive, but once the right temperature was found, it was perfect....just don't touch it again!!!
