Physically the property is very attractive both externally and internally. Very plush with high ceilings and cornicing, beautifully furnished with interesting artwork. The greeting was very friendly and efficient with cakes and pastries, plus cucumber/lemon water available if wanted, which I certainly did on the day I arrived having travelled 3.5 hours in the sweltering weather. My room and en suite were fabulous and I slept so well I have actually contacted the hotel to ask where the mattress was from! I only wished I could have stayed longer.

There really was nothing that I didn’t like. Before arriving I thought parking might be difficult as there are only 5 spaces out front but it was straightforward. I parked right outside on the street and the lady who checked me in did everything else.

The location was good, it had parking and the decor was attractive particularly in the communal areas.

Whilst the decor was impressive, the room itself was not so impressive and it seemed to be more about interior design and less about practicality. It was a good job we only went for one night as there was nowhere to put clothes other than a bizarre set up in a glass fronted dresser where the tea making facilities were. The bathroom was also not very practical as it had two sinks but no shelf or anything to put toiletries on, cleanliness wasn’t perfect – I had a dirty glass for example. Whilst breakfast was nice on the whole, the eggs, which were cooked to order, were overcooked.

Excellent breakfast which was good value. Room was spacious and airy. Bathroom is a good size. The restaurant area was very pleasant, well laid out, Good sized longe area and bar. Nice outside terrace with seating adjoining the restaurant. The fan was a nice addition, especially on a warm night.

Limited car parking spaces for 5-6 cars. There was a standalone bath in the bedroom which was a complete waste of space as there was separate shower room in the bathroom. The location of the television made it difficult to view from either the bed or the chairs in the room. The chairs were not comfortable, being more like dining chairs than chairs for lounging in.

Very stylish hotel. Lounge bar and restaurant very good indeed. Very nice breakfast. Well located. Staff very friendly.

The room (8) wasn't great. Very stylish but not at all practical. There was no wardrobe or chest of drawers, just a slightly bizarre repurposed kitchen dresser that only had room to hang a couple of shirts. But they had shoe-horned a kettle, espresso machine and minibar into it too! The bathroom was lacking in any shelves or flat surfaces to put a wash bag on. The shower just had a massive rainfall head but there really wasn't enough water pressure for this to work effectively. And no hand-held shower attachment which didn't please my wife at all. Whoever designed the room should spend a night or two staying in it...

Very comfortable bed, liked the quirky room with bath in the bedroom. Excellent tea and coffee facilities in the room and complimentary treats. can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't have breakfast. Good position, walking distance to town.

there seemed to be a plumbing problem with the 2 sinks in bathrooms - on one sink the hot tap water was very hot with hardly any cold water coming from the cold tap, which was very inconvenient, but the second sink was opposite - no hot water and loads of cold! Difficult when trying to clean your teeth! Was surprised that no tissues were supplied - normally they are. Also, we were a bit surprised to be charged for using the hotel car park.

We had a very warm welcome and the hotel was friendly and beautifully styled. Excellent food and service. They kindly upgraded our room and we particularly loved the tin bath in our room. We were extremely well looked after with a welcome coffee in the sitting room. The complimentary tipple and treats in the room were also much appreciated. The breakfast was excellent and great value for money too. Overall an excellent stay. We hope to return!

As we stated on a Sunday parking outside was available but it could be a little tricky otherwise.

Location was great - short walk into town and it was in a quiet area. Breakfast was very good (although you did have to wait a bit as there was only 1 chef)

Bar was a cramped. Lack of wardrobe space - ok for just a night or two. TV at the bottom of the bed - no remote to send it down into the recess. Roll top bath in the middle of the bedroom may be a nice feature …but do the size of the room, it took over the space Not enough usb/charging points

The property is furnished to high standards.

When l arrived l was given a different room to what l had paid for. It took me 3 attempts for the reception guy to hinge my room after l had threatened to leave but promised to give feedback as l see it. First l was told there was no other room & when l said on booking com or Hotels com was still showing so l have a right to book and you can keep the money for the original booking. After about an hour he came back to say or we can now give you a room so l said where did that room fall from. The reception guy had insisted they had nothing left for the night. This made my whole experience a nightmare and thinking l was still in the 70’s l thought as long as you can pay, you get what you ordered.

Breakfast excellent. Bed very comfortable with nice quality linen. Staff delightful; consistently helpful and cheerful, notably Megan. The chef clearly enjoys producing food of an excellent quality. Lounge area downstairs pleasant.q

There was a need for more storage space in the bedroom (Room 4). The large bath in the bedroom occupies a lot of space. Some of the items in the wall cupboard (kettle, coffee machine) difficult to access and operate if you are below average height. The lighting is somewhat limited.

On going into room very cold staff told me to put heating on would have thought knowing I was coming they would have prepared room The room is fully of things you can add to the bill , at high price I’m sure But no normal tea bags just box load of fancy teas (just saying) Also having paid top price for my room wasn’t too chuffed to get message on day of arrival telling me the discount price I guess they had empty rooms to fill
