We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the lodge. The facilities were easy to access and extremely useful. The owner of the Lodge was so friendly and checked in on us when she could 😊 The room was perfect, we had what we needed, and everything was clean, tidy, and easy to access. This was the first stay we've had on our trip that has smelt amazing and looked equally as great! The entire vibe is cosy, cute, and personal. There is also a spa to use and a trampoline for kiddos! As a bonus, we were able to enjoy an amazing view of the mountain from the main road. We will 100% be back.

That we didn't book a longer stay!

Staff were very accommodating, especially as we arrived slightly late. They also combined my 2 separate bookings (after a late addition to the travelling party) into 1 larger room (& even to a larger room than we needed) without extra cost. Ohakune is not big, so most accommodation there is within walking (or easy/short-driving) distance - and this one is pretty central to both ends of town.

No major gripes. We booked bunk-beds/rooms with shared-bathroom facilities - which are expected to be less pleasant than self-contained rooms. So not a gripe, just a "we got what we expected".

I have been staying here off and on for the last 20 years. It is a good location, well set out with plenty of space for on-site parking and value for money.

The rooms are a little faded and the paintwork - especially things like door frames and skirting board need damage/paint repairs. The bathroom is COLD and the shower unsuitable for older people - there is nothing to hold on to. Unit we stayed in was not designated as disability friendly but even one grab bar would be handy and helpful.

Love this motel. The beds were comfy, good kitchen facilities, lounge area was nice. We've stayed here before and we'd 100% stay here again. It was perfect for the 4 of us. Free drying room was perfect and the outside spa was a treat.

The bathroom fan and light are on the one switch - it would be great if they were separated as the fan is very loud to turn on when kids are in bed. Spa pool could do with being a bit hotter. TV signal wasn't good.

The room was perfect, nice size for 4 and had everything we needed. The spa in our room was great too. The place was warm and had a nice log cabin feel to it, it was away from town so very quiet. Would definitely stay there again.

The fire alarm went off on the first night, no one told us when it was safe to return to our room or what set it off. On the first morning there was no water, an email etc explaining that the water was being turned off for whatever reason would have been nice.

A Nice Place to Stay! This is a very pleasant place. Due to our late check-in, we were allowed to check in by ourselves, which was very convenient. The staff was incredibly responsive and even prepared a much better room for us than the one we had originally booked. Thank you so much! This is a great place to relax after a long journey or enjoy your time in Ohakune.

Lady in office doing check-ins and check-outs was lovely. Property itself was in a great location, close to everything we needed and was priced well. Our room was nice and warm when we arrived which was great considering it was winter and freezing. On checkout we forgot a watch in our room and this had been handed into the office for us to collect- honesty at its finest. Would highly recommend

We loved our stay and are likely to return

The location was excellent and the service was great. We appreciated the consideration of which room we were put in and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We loved the spa bath and the kids loved seeing the mountain first thing in the morning. Thank you!

The beds were very springy and bouncy so we ended up sleeping in separate beds so we didn't feel extra movement.

due to rain (traveling by motorcycle) and a failed attempt at the river canoe trip, I ended up staying at the Hobbit for way longer than anticipated, but my stay was fantastic and comfortable! Michelle who runs the lodge is a wonderful person and puts alot of effort in to keeping the lodge clean and comfy for guests! I would def recommend staying here if you are coming through Ohakune!

Our room was spacious, well appointed, very comfortable bed, and great views of the mountain each morning. Walkable distance to town and the river walkway.

Only one little niggle, the bathroom ventilation fan was quite noisey, and was on the same circuit as the light so couldn't be turned off while the light was on. Didn't spoil our stay though.
