The staff were incredible and very kind, helpful and friendly. The location next to the beach was unique and a big plus. The check-in was super quick, easy and thorough as the staff were very attentive. The price was more than reasonable and having food available for breakfast was so convenient. The kitchen was extra spacious and a plus. I enjoyed the interaction with other guests from all around the world. I hope to return in the future.

Not much the facility can change about the late and loud music from the establishments below ... but I expected that and it was not something that would change my good feeling about my stay.

I came with my family of five and we stayed here just for one night as a layover. It was my father's birthday and our main destination was Hawaii. My father and mother had a private bedroom and private bath on the corner. They enjoyed the view of the ocean but being older, did not really appreciate the bars below as noise could go late into the evening when they wanted to sleep. Myself and my girlfriend had a private room with no bath. My brother had a private bed in a four bed dorm. We enjoyed the beds - very comfortably. Even though we weren't here for a long time, we really appreciated the staff being super friendly and the location is amazing. Right outside is the beach, Pier, plenty of cafes for breakfast, and plenty of bars and restaurants open late into the evening. Some of the best views of California on the beach. The rooms are very clean. Bathrooms are very clean. The staff is also very accommodating. All rooms you can see the ocean. Very affordable.

We were only here a couple hours, but we wanted to stay much longer. My father and mother being older, didn't like the noise level of the bars below. So be aware that there are bars open until about 2:00 a.m. My brother found bugs In his private bed dorm so he switched to a different bed to sleep. Had a 7:00 a.m. flight so we didn't get to try breakfast. Overall, our stay was very much enjoyable and these did not take away anything from our trip.

Great location and comfortable bed! I could see the ocean from the view of my window. The hostel is surrounded by an amazing surfing community and ideal for any aspiring beach bum.

I was aware of this before I booked, but it does sit above a noisy bar. During the off season it’s always quiet past midnight, but if you like to go to bed early this will be a problem. During the summer the bars stay open until 2am. I didn’t have a problem with this, but I did want to give potential travelers a heads up.

Third time staying here. Great location, I love Hermosa Beach. Wifi is fast and reliable, was able to do some work remotely. Breakfast keeps gettin better, there’s pancakes and eggs now. Staff were great too, friendly and helpful.

This didn’t matter to me cause I sleep late, but travelers should be aware that the hostel is surrounded by bars and it’s pretty noisy outside until the bars close. They do give free earplugs though. They may also run out of free food during breakfast. Best to wake up early if you want to avail of the free meal.

The staff of the hostel is amazing(visited 8 cities for 5 weeks in the US, Canada and the UK this time. They are absolutely the best I’ve met throughout the whole journey). They are not just workers at a hostel but my friends now. The location is fabulous. Safe area, a couple minute walk to the pier, you can just look at the beach from the property, too. Lots of pubs and bars downstairs. They also have events every single day. I loved meditation session and the music night. I wanted to join them for taco Tuesday but missed it. Breakfast is good since they have fruit and eggs as well as pancakes! If you’re a fan of LaLaLand, visit Light House downstairs. I happened to know that at the very last minute before leaving.

The hall way had a little bit odd smell but it is still clean overall.

Small and cozy place, clean bathrooms and good breakfast. Pancakes, Eggs, Bananas, Coffee. Well equipped kitchen. Location is excellent. Parking is very expensive and difficult. Beach is just outside. Lively atmosphere.

Extremely difficult to locate the property. It opens with just a Tiny door in middle of restaurants and super busy place. They must specifically email and inform in detail to each guest. The staff was not well informed about parking. The parking signs on street are misleading as regards timing. I requested for lower bunk bed but was denied.

Well run establishment. I loved the “international college student traveler’s” vibe. It took me back to college dorm life. Amazing experience!!! Staff was professional, positive, courteous, helpful, & motivated. The steep stairs were an issue for me as a disabled person, but it was still worth staying. Great location!!! Great view!!! Great price!!! Great staff!!! Great guests!!! My expectations were exceeded. I had a great time. Thank you!!!

An elevator would be nice. But it looked like an old building. Not sure if that’s possible. Fitted sheets kept slipping off the mattress exposing the plastic protective cover underneath. I tried extending my stay but there wasn’t any availability.

Staff and people is very nice, some activities will be hold here. We will talk and discuss many thing. This is a safety district, no homeless around. You can find a drink at night since some bar is nearby.

Some noise at night since many bar around here but it is expected. You need to walk 15 mins to Free Street parking but this is LA, I know parking is difficult to be found so it is acceptable. The shower room install a auto light but it will be auto turn off when you showering. Overall, it is good hostel and suitable for talkative person.

The people were always very friendly and very helpful

The other women staying in the dorm were not considerate of others staying there. They came in late and turned the light on while I was sleeping and left their luggage and shoes all over the floor. This was no fault of the facility the facility was great 100% and even addressed the problem with the other ladies

Awesome short stay. We came to visit local friends and therefore didn't hang out with other guests or the team but everyone was at all times nice and friendly to four mid-40 guys. Location could not be better, right at the beach pier in between pubs, restaurants and shops. 30 seconds to a beer tap. 60 seconds till you jump into the waves. Bikes and boards available for rent.

It's not really an issue but I have to write something in this box... the party DJ downstairs in the Safehouse was a bass addict. We loved it until we tried to sleep ;) so weekend guests either party till the end or learn how to sleep while the floor is vibrating.
