We stayed here three nights initially, in a lead-in room type, and we were blown away by how cool this place was. It's actually quite hard to see what it's like by just the website, we ended up taking a chance on it based on the excellent reviews, but we were thinking of it as the wildcard of our stay on Lombok. It's beautiful, clean, and unique, with interesting things to see around every corner. We left for Gili Islands a few days later, but by then we had been so spoiled by this place that we cancelled our accommodation there after two nights and returned to Tugu for another 4 nights. Next to Tugu, Gilis are crowded, ugly, dusty, and noisy. The grounds are huge and spectacular, on a private beautiful beach. Lush grass, incredible garden, two amazing restaurants - the Chinese inspired one is open a couple of nights a week, a fun and beautifully appointed change of scenery for dinner. The second pool in a huge lap pool, private and away from the main restaurant area. The main pool is conveniently set at the restaurant, for quick meal and drink service. Our first room was nice enough, ample space for our two kids, with an indoor bathroom, if you prefer your bathroom air conditioned. Our second stay we upgraded to an Aloon Aloon Garden Villa, which was well worth the small amount more, and we prefer an outdoor bathroom. We were able to put two additional single beds in here for a very small additional amount. The food was very good. It's not 5 star, but it's still very delicious and perfectly good. We were impressed with the generous breakfast. The real highlight of our stay was the staff, they are exceptional, and made us and our kids feel so at home, and like nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much staff of Tugu!

The only thing I personally didn't love was the mattress, as I prefer a firm bed, and it was soft and it felt as though there was a slight bend in the middle, so the the head and feet felt ever so slightly higher. I woke up most mornings with a sore back and neck and didn't sleep well. The best sleep I has was on the kids single bed. I experienced this in both rooms. In saying that, my husband could not perceive a bend, and he slept well. There is also a very bad smell in one particular area down by the sea, which got very strong at times and put us off spending time in that area, which was a shame as it was the area with the games and swing for the kids.

My husband and I came to Hotel Tugu for a second honeymoon. We spent our original honeymoon in Sengiggi over 27 years ago, and we wanted to experience a different part of Lombok. Hotel Tugu is incredible. The facilities are luxurious and comfortable, the staff are attentive to every little detail, friendly, warm and welcoming. The resort is large and spacious, and you often feel like you are the only person there. The beach is beautiful with coral and fish easily reached, and the view with Mt Rinjani in the distance is amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all and truly relax and recharge. The only downside is if you are keen on exciting nightlife. It is isolated - but for us, that was the best part about it.

A second restaurant. Only one was open during our stay - it would have been nice to have a bit more variety and choice with the food menu. The food available however was really good and excellent value for a resort.

Our stay at Tugu was outstanding. The hotel has a very charming look and combines luxury with tradition super well. The service / staff could read your wishes without asking :D, they have been super helpful with all our wishes and they exceeded any expectations we had. The food was amazing, best food we had in Lombok - especially the traditional curries. The breakfast menu is better than buffet. The pools are super nice, and the bigger pool is great for swimming. The beach is large and there is enough room and space for everyone, you feel like you are alone. The hotel has a great reef for snorkeling, better than most diving sites, if you like corals and fishes. We booked some activities and they were all great, we had a nice driver who went the extra mile for our requests (Adri). The Spa is also highly recommended, the massages were amazing, so good that we almost went every day :D. Overall I can highly recommend this hotel, best hotel stay of my life so far and I have been in many places.

Nothing - everything perfect

Tugu Lombok combines attentive service, spacious comfort, and culinary delight, making it an unforgettable retreat on the island.

I can't praise the staff enough at this hotel, which truly made it the highlight of our stay in Indonesia. There was a slight hiccup when first arriving but the staff did everything they could to make us feel relaxed. The quality and range of food was the best we had in all of Indonesia, and they offered free kayaks, paddle boards and snorkels for their private beach. Truly this is paradise! Tip: I highly recommend the snorkeling excursion they offer. You have your own personal guide who knows all the best spots and points out kinds of fish that we wouldn't have spotted ourselves!

One suggestion: we booked the private BBQ on the beach (absolutely gorgeous and well worth the money). The hotel catches fresh fish everyday but when we were shown the fish the morning of, we were told several had already been 'claimed' by other hotel guests. We ended up being served two snappers each, which we had already eaten the night before at dinner. We were disappointed by this oversight and feel that having booked the BBQ experience it would have been appreciated if the staff had spoken to us about types of fish we like, if we had already tried some at the hotel, etc.

The most beautiful hotel I ever saw! The big statues in all the hotel but the best is the restaurant, most gorgeous restaurant! The pools are beautiful also and the beach is also good. Food is amazing! The afternoon tea is a good touch.

Maybe the only thing I don’t understand for a 5 star hotel is that if you ask cheese at breakfast they bring you those slices of cheese is a plastic wrap, the supermarket plastic cheese, an hotel like this should have proper cheese.

Charming rooms, beautiful grounds with lots of interesting art, excellent food - particularly the indonesian dishes but great burgers as well. Wonderful service - they really made us feel pampered. Nice beach. This is a place to come when you just need to get away from it all and relax.

It may be a bit remote from the action for some people. You can do day trips and the wonderful Lombok Wildlife Park is just 20 minutes away but be aware, there isn't anything else within walking distance.

My partner and I had the most blissful 3 days at Hotel Tugu. As other reviews have said, it is a special place. The grounds are stunning, spacious and beautifully maintained, and connect to a quiet patch of private beach. The traditional architecture and artefacts dotted around give this place a feel that is different to a hotel. It’s entirely possible to find yourself a patch of serenity somewhere that you would be forgiven for thinking you were the only guests here. The service was by far a highlight; all staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, remembered and comfortable, and did so with genuineness. We were only able to eat at the main restaurant as the other was closed, but every meal was delicious and carefully presented. I couldn’t say I’ve ever been sad to leave a hotel before staying here. Cannot recommend enough.

There is not much around the area in terms of restaurants and activities, although we rarely actually felt like we wanted to leave.

We loved our stay at Hotel Tugu! At first, our villa was a little noisy due to the call of prayer but the manager quickly moved us into a more soundproof villa. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful, they really made our stay special. It was our honeymoon and we enjoyed two candlelit dinners on the beach, fantastic food and lots of lovely surprises in the hotel room (towel animals!). When I was sick, the hotel manager also managed to find the correct medication for me, he was really amazing. The pools, cocktails and wine list were all top quality. The beach was totally beautiful aswell! The room was huge with fully functioning air conditioning. Overall, this was our favourite hotel that we visited for our honeymoon and we strongly recommend!

The outdoor toilets could be renovated

This is a very special place in Lombok. The setting is spectacular but it is the facilities and staff that make it so exceptional. There isn’t anything to say except if you have the chance you should go. We did two hotel arranged trips with them and they were brilliant. Snorkelling and then the waterfall trip. Both with lovely people who cared about what they were doing. Everyone wanted to make our stay special and I am so grateful to have been there.
