The gardens are well maintained and units far enough away from each other to ensure peace and quiet. Just walk over the road to the beach which was great. Had read from a previous review that one of the garden rooms is next to a walkway which has rubbish lining it. We asked to move and were given a unit which was very private, so once again it all depends on where your room is located.

Agree with most reviewers about the pool, but the beach is just over the road.

Truly fabulous. The rooms are clean and comfortable and recently. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble to organise. Location and proximity to the beach excellent. Actually, one of the only areas you can access the beach without heavy coral debris. Proximity to the harbour means you can walk to the accommodation. The beaches raked clean of any rubbish and debris that may have washed up.

Recent renovations have removed mosquito nets. Mosquitoes do access easily through the bathroom door So beware. This is out of Scallywags control but If there on a Friday night, the zip bar Next Door has a thumping music every Friday night till 4 am. even heavy duty earplugs don’t help. swimming pool is a little unusual but proximity to the beach means it’s not really an issue.

Location, arriving there, communication, accommodation, PADI dive Center directly at the place, nice day beds and restaurant directly at the beach, stunning view and service where excellent!

Unfortunately the current is moving away the sandy beach therefore there where many bass filled with sand and corrals to prevent corrosion. When looking down and going on the dive boat, this was not too nice. But the sea and view was amazing, you just shouldn’t look directly down to your feet. Fridays the Bar next to the hotel has a. Live Music & DJ night. In case you have a slight sleep, you should watch out for that. I decided spontaneously to join the party since I couldn’t sleep with the music. Even though I didn’t come for partying, it was a nice coincident and night :)

Scallywags is in a great location on Gili Air, in close proximity to the wharf/port. The room was spacious & clean, had all requirements such as a very comfortable bed, good a/c & frig & a nice bathroom with outdoors shower, which was nice, even in the rain! It also had a nice entry/outside area, even if I didn't use because of the rain. The grounds are well laid out with greenery everywhere. The beach was across from the reception & had great seating on a nice private beach. Despite the rain I enjoyed my days at Scallywags.

I was disappointed there was no Happy Hour & spent time (& funds) at adjacent Bars & Restaurants.

Fab location, a short walk from the pier with a lovely sandy beach that had sunbeds for guests to use for free. We walked up the beach one day to snorkel and saw a turtle within 5 mins of being in the water, just magical! We had a family room which was perfect, separate bedroom for the kids so we all had our own space. Food was good quality and reasonably priced and staff were excellent. The children loved the pool by the bar, it always felt very refreshing!

There were a lot of mosquitoes in the bathroom as it’s open air, not a major issue just something to be aware of.

Great location, really nice staff and a beach club in front of the hotel that belongs to the property where you can have breakfast and they reserve sun beds for troughout your stay.

Unfortunately we did not get the room we booked, the part of the hotel where we booked was closed because the other part was not fully booked. In our opinion, the room we had booked was more luxurious, since we had been there before. We were not informed of this prior to our arrival. Also, the hotel didn’t inform us in advance about the fact that the restaurant was only open until 4 p.m. so that dinner wasn’t available at the property.

Pool in unusual location,toilet seats and cistern button need replacing,TV hopeless as staff tried twice to work it and managed to get internet pre recorded Al Jazeera news only. Beach access and erosion by sand bags only.

Room was comfortable, I really enjoyed the deck/patio space. Lovely garden. Air conditioning was lovely. Appreciated the tea and coffee! Breakfast was outstanding. Wonderful fruits and juices. Eggs and bacon AND sausage was delicious. Lots of comfortable sun chairs. Grounds are a great combination of sun and shade ( which is most necessary- the shade!!). White sandy beach a delight. Use of environmental practices MOST appreciated- large water dispenser in our room. Towels only changed if requested. No plastic straws. Every bit makes a difference. 🙏thanks

My room safe was never fixed. Fortunately I shared with my friend. My water volume and pressure was very low for n my shower … yet in my friends cabin- she had lots. The pool was a disappointment. Right at the bar, under cover.

The place is right on the beach (South East) and a few minutes walk from the Port. The sun is quite strong in the morning and to see better sunsets you can go towards the South West of the island. The staff welcomed us with a drink and a cold face towel which we really appreciated. Good selection at breakfast with fresh products and many restaurants, spas and shops nearby. You can also book a dive course, snorkel (and maybe see the turtle if you're lucky) and do many more water activities. The room was fine.

We were in the farthest room from the reception and the wi-fi was not working most of the time. The shower was cold, which was fine due to the hot weather but perhaps this can be improved for the comfort of guests. Breakfast was good but the menu was not very clear regarding the available choices. Perhaps it could be written in a better way.

We enjoyed our stay at Scally. It’s just 500 meters from the port. The beaches nearby are great for swimming and snorkeling. This area is the best part of Gili, with many good restaurants where you can try fresh fish and traditional Balinese food. The breakfast is really good—so good that even people who aren’t staying here come to eat it!

It is near the beach not beach front. Don’t expect that bungalows are on the sand
