The rooms under a bridge with windows to the canal had their charm…
… but it was damp and humid in the rooms, so if you have allergies or asthma one should be aware.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, offering a quiet retreat despite its central location right next to the iconic Dom Tower. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful — communication via WhatsApp made our early arrival and luggage drop-off seamless, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed city tour before check-in. Although the reception isn’t open 24/7, everything was perfectly arranged in advance. One of the highlights was the access to a lovely garden, which was especially appreciated as we were traveling with our dog. It truly enhanced our stay. Highly recommended for both location and hospitality!

Interesting accommodation with antiques and historical items, furniture, decorations, contrasting with modern amenities and facilities. Really charming and beautiful for antiques lovers.
I wish the room was restored better, some old parts looked not so nice with messy restructuring works (planks, nails sticking out, broken bits of wood or worn out chair tapestry etc.) At this price, was expecting better maintenance. But the worst for us was the church bells ringing every 15 min day and night - we got no rest, thankfully it was only one night...

Quirky place Large luxurious bedrooms Nice breakfast
I was not happy with the room we had booked. Wall badly scuffed, very stained carpet and a small chunk of the bathroom door knocked out. I spoke to reception and was given a free upgrade though we had to have a night each in different bedrooms. The cellar room was gorgeous though a faff to get in, literally a half circle heavy door opening directly onto stone stairs. We were very careful! Our other upgraded room was amazing. It was on the top floor and grand, classy. Lots of wood. It isn't the hotel's fault that the Dom tower bells play a little tune every fifteen minutes during the night. You couldn't hear them in the cellar room at least.

Lovely room with large comfortable bed, plenty of big pillows and a good shower. Tea and coffee making facilities and fridge in room. Great central location, close to the historic centre and an easy, flat, 15 minutes walk to the central station. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
Just a few minor things. Cups for tea and coffee in room really small. The teabag filled up the cup! Shower gel never replenished during my stay. I used 1 teabag and ate the 2 free small cookies but again these were not replaced! Finally they have an on line check out which is efficient but a bit impersonal. I was in a room at the back of the hotel so after I checked in I never saw anyone again, not a big issue just felt to me that with the on line check out you loose the personal touch. Despite these small things I would stay here again.

We stayed in the Cellar room which at first, entering through the tiny door from the outside of the hotel was unusual but actually it was a unique experience. Not recommended for the elderly as you have to duck your head whilst going through the door to the cellar room. Once down there, it was an amazing curved room with a curved ceiling. Plenty of room and hanging space. Bathroom and shower were great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great central location. Atmosphere of a Grand Old Mansion rather than a hotel. The room we stayed in was so elegant and spacious . We didn't see much of the staff or other guests and the reception desk was empty a lot of the time. So it felt like we were sort of "living" there as opposed to just staying for a few days. This might not suit everyone but we were happy with the arrangement.

The atmosphere was truly impressive — it felt like spending a night in a real medieval castle. The interior was stunning, with luxurious details, high ceilings, and authentic decor. The location couldn’t be better: right in the heart of the old town, next to the tower.
Since the building is historic, the floors creak a lot and sound travels easily — at times it felt like someone was walking right through my room. Thankfully, the staff thoughtfully provided earplugs.

Beautiful period furniture, room was charming with wooden beams, window with wooden shutters, ceiling fan and mini bar. Staff were so kind and helpful and all spoke perfect English. Atmosphere was quiet, laid back and civilised. Very central location, maximum 10 minutes walking distance from all the shops and museums and right next door to the Dom tower, Pieterskerk and many good cafes and restaurants. Breakfast in the hotel was very civilised, quiet and delicious. Bread and croissants served warm to the table, juice freshly squeezed.
It was perfect- I couldn’t have asked for more.

Very much appreciated the last minute breakfast reservation! Breakfast and breakfast room were great. The location in middle of Utrecht is perfect for walking to canals and historic sites. We loved our room in the attic with the exposed beams and windows that opened. The shower was the best one of our 2-week vacation. Bed was very comfy as well. We enjoyed having wine with our friends at the table. Great experience! Although Dom Tower bells rang every 15 minutes - ear plugs provided by hotel.
Only negative was the bells ringing from the tower all night - but I wouldn’t trade the location - which was perfect as was everything about the hotel. We highly recommend and will stay there again if ever in Utrecht in the future.
