This is a truly 'boutique' hotel, beautifully furnished and decorated. Room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Good coffee and healthy snacks available downstairs day and night. No need for keys or plastic keycard, you just use a code to get into the hotel out of hours and into your room. Great location in central Portsmouth, which is a lovely working port with river views, history, shops, bars and restaurants. It's opposite the Portsmouth Museum which is well worth a visit. Next door is Jumping Jays which does 'shuck a buck' (British translation = one oyster for a dollar!) on Tuesdays, great fish restaurant. There is a very good Japanese restaurant attached to this hotel (dinner only) which we didn't try but my sister rates it highly.

Well, there's no onsite parking because this is a restored old building in central Portsmouth. We didn't mind as we left the car at my brothers and only needed a hotel for one night. You can drop your bags off outside but then have to use their offsite parking service at $40 a night, a bit pricey if you were there several nights. If you know Portsmouth and don't mind a bit of a walk, there are streets further out where you could leave your car for free, but for convenience I guess many would use their parking service.

I loved the special touches that seemed like a little extra care was put into the room like the white noise machine and the lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom. I also loved being able to control the temperature- the directions were easy to follow.

The fan / heater made a repetitive noise that drove me ABSOLUTELY bonkers while I was trying to sleep. I had to wear earplugs. Also, the directions for the TV need to be updated. I was not able to figure out how to watch anything, and when I did finally find a menu it was in Spanish, so that didn’t help.

Price was high for value $320 for a king No coffee. Only espresso machines that were much too bitter No fan or window in bathroom; steamy Thermostat was wonky. Off by 2 degrees and caused warm night one night, and cold night the next No closet or place to put large open suitcase. There is a hanging fixture but small Bruised leg by hitting on corner of wood bed frame

1. Great location near center of Portsmouth: walk everywhere. 2. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Welcoming reception area with free snacks, espresso machine and filtered water dispenser. 3. Very comfortable rooms with range of sizes. Ours was smaller as we were only staying one night and visiting with friends nearby. Great bathroom and amenities. 4. Easy self check in, though staff on site for much of day. 5. Quiet. Would absolutely stay here again.

No criticisms. It's a good value (cost versus quality).

Room was clean, spacious and bed was very comfortable. We had espresso in the room, a bottle of water and toiletries.

Hotel was having construction done which was unexpected, parts of the stairwell were closed and we had workers outside our window working. Parking was additional cost which was unplanned, we had to go across the street and pay to park.

Loved the history. Heating was fine, bath and linens were very comfortable. You have all the modern amenities and the pleasing to the eye old decor. Staff was very helpful and friendly. THANK GOD for that elevator!

Parking was difficult, little confusing with one-way streets and having to unload in an alleyway.

Great location; everything you need in walking distance. Parking not included, but lot down the street. Extremely easy checkin- check-out. And they allow you to fill your water bottles and have Nespresso coffee.

The bathroom was clean, but the shower was underwhelming-- nice products though.

Room 4 was beautiful and very clean. Location was superb.

That the room had zero airflow. The air was very still and dence. Even when turning room temp to 63, it still wasn't blowing air. Felt a little like being trapped in an elevator with no air. It didn't appear that the fan for the bathroom worked. There was no sound from it, and when showering the entire bathroom became saturated in steam.

Two minor things. 1) front steps to lobby are difficult with heavy luggage, particularly when you don’t accept staff’s eager offer of help. 2) bathroom lights are not quite bright enough for makeup application, so I’m told.

Absolutely beautiful aesthetic! So clean and accommodating. Staff was friendly and kind. The connecting restaurant was absolutely AMAZING. A truly wonderful experience.

The sound unfortunately, our absolutely beautiful room was right over the dumpsters so it was very loud at 5 am. It is downtown Portsmouth so it’s so be expected, even with that I’d stay again sound and all.
