PERFECTLY CLEAN, SUPER-SAFE AREA, FRIENDLY STAFF. Hostel Mont Royal is nested inbetween block of flats in super safe, neat, upper-class residential area easily reached by bus No. 22 (The bus station and the local, small super market is just one-minute walk from the place, just buy the 1.45 EUR single ticket by cash or card at the driver. The buses operate every 10-20 minutes and night route 22N is also available - just beware of the fact that night route do not operate between 24th-31th December; last bus from the centre - Plaza Porta del Mar - departs at 22:30 during holidays, but do not worry, u can easily take a taxi which costs app. 10-15 EUR). The reception does not operate out of peak season, but u can check yourself in by the machine in front of the entrance door (prepare your ID to be scanned - the card key should be provided by machine itself on the right side). The room facility was modest (TV does not provide u watching Netflix or any other streaming services), but perfectly clean with everyday cleaning service. Surprisingly, the bathroom was hotel-alike, also very clean and spacious, with towels, hair-dryer and liquid soaps. The hygiene standard was definitely above hostel level. I paid for breakfast service, which was served at the very next pub, consisting of coffee, fresh orange juice and two slices of grilled bread with tomato sauce, fresh ham and cheese on top daily. The staff was friendly and the building filled with calm, middle-aged guests. Def wise option if on budget or preferring calm place to stay.

Unfortunately, despite the facility was really clean, the omnipresent smell of plumbing was here during the first days of my stay. It might have been caused by the change of the weather pressure, but it was unpleasant. The mattress quality was right, but the single bed was kinda narrow even for a short girl. I would recommend to book a room with king-size/double bed then if u wanna stay longer.

Nice location in a residential area, close to the sea and very easily accesible to the city.

The sound insulation of the room was very poor... maybe if there is not many people don´t give them the neighbouring rooms... I could hear everything from the next door room.

Staff were great, really friendly and coped with my major lack of any Spanish! The room was cleaned daily, it was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Great location, easy to find and with plenty of amenities nearby as well as the restaurants attached to the place itself.

Only real downside was that we would have liked a small mini-fridge and coffee making facilities in the room, particularly with such a long stay. Only a minor thing but it would have finished things off nicely.

Hotel was in a good location for beach tram and supermarket. Clean. Basic but comfortable. Nice pool area.

Our late arrival had been advised to the location, but as the fact we had prepaid was not on record and we were unable to gain access to our room. Very little english spoken, and we were only able to resolve the problem due to a very helpful English speaking barman who was thankfully still at the hotel. Without his help, it would have been a very different story, and we are still very cross about this.

staff all excellent, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. whole building was spotlessly clean throughout stay also. lovely food in both restaurants next door again with excellent staff. had a absolutely lovely stay.

disappointed you couldn't use pool between 1430 and 1700, or be able to eat or drink around pool at any time, neither of these points advertised untill arrival. possibly could have a little local information at reception for visitors, staff were superb whenever asked about anything though.

We booked last minute and didn't expect too much. It turned out to be amazing! The staff were all lovely, both in the hostel and in the bar/cafe and very helpful. The location was perfect for us - we escaped the hussle of the centre and tourism. There is a supermarket with all sorts of amenities across the road, San Juan beach is 15 mins walk away, tram and bus stop are 2 mins away and a few nice restaurants 10 mins walk away. The room and bathroom were clean and suited us perfectly. Special thanks to Raquel on reception for being so helpful. Muchas Gracias ☺️ x

We couldn't fault Mont Royal. We had a taxi booked for us to bring us to the airport and were given a rough price by reception. The taxi however charged us almost double that price so be aware and make sure you check before you get into it (this is no fault of Mont Royal) just to worth noting.

Very nice hostel in a peaceful, quiet area by the sea. Hostel was very easy to get to from the city center (about 15min by bus or tram) at every hour of the night and day. Rooms were clean and nice enough considering low price. Pool was ok too, however it's opening hours were unclear to us. There is an affordable restaurant just by the hostel. Many good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I would recommend this place for sure.

Maybe the only negative thing was that almost nobody spoke english and it was hard to communicate when we needed additional information.

The hostal is spotlessly clean,the staff are so helpful. The rooms were clean and serviced daily.The two adjoining restaurants are absolutely fantastic. The tram is only 2 mins walk and you can either go to the fantastic beach in under 5 mins or into alicante which takes about 2 mins. Cost of tram is around £1.50.Would highly recommend ! We will definitely be returning.

No kettle or small refrigerator in room but this didn't really affect us.

Hotel and room were conveniently located. Room was clean and staff were friendly. Room was quiet. Shower temperature was different each time, but always provided relief from the heat and adventure of the day!

With our keycard removed when we left, the room was stiflingly hot when we returned each afternoon and evening. AC worked great, but we wanted to return to a cool room to relax, not wait 15-20 minutes to cool it down after shutting the windows.

Second visit in a matter of days. I love that the hostel (small hotel) is small and cosy. The staff are all very nice and helpful. I like the courtyard areas to the front and by the bar (which are attractively illuminated at night. There’s a nice peaceful pool area too.

my room for the second visit had a bad smell coming from the en-suite, but with door closed and window ajar it was manageable (the smell must be coming from the drains). Also if reception is unattended the easy checkin would be convenient if you are provided with the hotel’s reference number which I didn’t receive from booking.com or the hotel on either visit.
