The breakfast and view was excellent. Fresh juice and yummy appetizers. The zen garden in my room was amazing and relaxing.

There are hardly any restaurants open for dinner after 6pm. No room service. No welcome drink served during check in. But there were cakes and drinks in the room for guest.

The breakfast option is a must do. Breakfasts are chief preparded masterpieces. Three main breakfast variations, but all fantastic while eating with a beautiful river view. The Arashiyama area is busy during the day, but when you stay at the Muni we have quiet mornings (until about 9) to enjoy the area crowd-free and then things go quiet after 5PM. So, enjoy the area in the morning and evening and spend the day visiting Kyoto.

The happy hour is limited in beverage choices. However, we preferred to have our cocktails at our restaurant of choice (which Pizza MAMA is a great option).

The hotel is amazingly designed, has a perfect location in Arashiyama and great amenities in the room. The maisonette was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty and the reception staff very helpful

The hotel is not that well suited for a visit with kids. While they had all the necessary amenities for children, including a baby there was not much they can enjoy in the facilities. Moreover, for some reason breakfast for children is not included in the “breakfast included option” with was very weird as we expected to eat all together (to be fair, they fixed the situation quickly). Besides that there is no view from the maisonette side, which is quite disappointing given the fact its one of the key selling points of the hotel and one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. Overall, couples would probably enjoy this hotel much more, and while we had a pleasant stay, it wasn’t the most suited one for traveling with kids

The hotel’s location is excellent. Just a short walk to Togetsukyo Bridge and the main attractions in Arashiyama. It was the perfect location for anyone who’s into strolling and shopping. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

This was my second stay at this hotel, but unfortunately, the experience this time was a little bit lackluster. Compared to my previous visit, the overall management seemed less attentive, and some details were not handled as well. I hope that improvements can be made to bring the service back to the high standard I once appreciated.

Convenient, beautiful architecture & details.

For this type of hotels & at this rate, communication was difficult. Concierge & front desk staff should be more well versed in other languages, esp English as its most spoken. It’s a struggle. When I requested for help by emails prior to arrival a lady by the name of Rinka was so inefficient she did nothing for a week. I reached a barrier w communication & she sat on all of my requests for assistance. It was so frustrating. I’ve never expected this from a hotel of this stature. I had to call the hotel before I got someone who efficiently took over.

Service was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast set with a choice of mains was very good quality. I enjoyed my breakfast with a view of the river and the lovely autumn foliage. The room and bathroom were very spacious, bright and well ventilated. Floor heating made the room very comfortable. The location was excellent! Walking distance to shopping street, bamboo forest, Tenryu-ji , Fukuda Art Museum, Togetsokyu bridge …

The pillows were too soft. A pillow menu for guest to select pillow preference will be good.

Be aware - All restaurants on site and the bakery (good for breakfast) close for random days in a week meaning there’s no option for food on site. Which was highly disappointing considering the cost of the hotel. This issue is compounded by everywhere in the near vicinity closing for food around 7pm. When we stayed they closed just the Wednesday, but looking at the schedule in the hotel they were all closed Monday-Wednesday the week after.

Not usually one to leave reviews, but The Muni deserves both praise and honest feedback. The location and design are breathtaking — calm, elegant, and perfectly placed in Arashiyama.

However, the service felt overly tense, and some team members clearly struggled with communication, which led to discomfort. I even raised my concerns, and while I was politely acknowledged, the end. Sadly, I skipped the restaurant — I wanted to try it, but my enquiry left me feeling

The breakfast was exceptional. and their twin room is spacious with stunning artificial waterfall view.

Recommended only for a group up to 3 ppl

The wardrobe is stylish but not user-friendly. Cosmetic mirror should be added in the washroom area.
