Great location, car park and bus stop for Appledore and Bideford and Barnstaple. Beautiful frontage and gardens. Nice bar and reception and although we didn't try it the food looked great. Outdoor pool. Little Gym. We were upgraded to a nice big but quite dated room. Comfy bed. Room very clean with daily housekeeping. Reception very helpful. Felt safe.

The room was a bit jaded and a mish mash furniture wise. Old thick hard to pull curtains. Bedside light and switch nowhere near the ....bed! There was a unusable, rather grand, fake fireplace...it was a sight to behold! But it really did have a homely feel!

Beautiful old hotel- full of charm. Our room was beautiful, with rose petals on the bed and double jacuzzi bath. Food was gorgeous and staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a sheet in our room asking for maintenance pointers of things that needed attention in the room. I filled this in on our second day and went out- when we returned all the little things were fixed. Staff gave us recommendations for places to eat and called us taxis when required. It’s a good base for seeing north Devon. Westward Ho! Is a gem!

We didn’t find it an issue but the hotel appears to cater for coach trips but these were served in the ballroom.

I Was given room 242 I had very comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room, good view to the river and bridge. Breakfast was brilliant plenty of choice to cater for all. I have severe allergy to dairy and managed to eat well with no fuss. I travelled with my two brothers and we had excellent evening meals, with fresh veg. There was plenty of seating areas for us to meet up and chat. The staff were very helpful and friendly. there was also plenty of parking. A hotel with a lovely atmosphere.

I honestly can't find fault and I am regular traveller to the London and other UK area hotels.

I'm  not usually leave feedback even I use booking.com almost every time I travell somewhere but this time after I spent a night in this hotel been there with busines it showed up to me how low is their rating and in my opinion it's unfair so I will tell what I found there I've stayed in a room with generous space,a double bed  a large sofa, bathroom with bath and shower. From the window a could see the estuary and the hotel pool, about the pool ive been told at arrival that it's open for guests only and the water temperature that day was 27° C so at that temperature you can use it even is not a sunny day, unfortunately Iwasn't prepared for a day on the beach otherwise I would definitely have a swim      I had dinner in the bar I think Apledore is called as they have two ,the food was great and plenty the staff friendly and prompt .  So honestly this place is great for a weekend with family or a holiday ,didn't mention that it has a big playing ground and the ocean is 5 min drive .

I arrived to the hotel and was given a complimentary room upgrade, my room faced a view of the outdoor dining area, swimming pool and Estuary. The hotel is truly set in an amazing location, my room was spotlessly clean also. I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both superb, and great value for money. I was visiting an elderly relative in the area, and although travelling alone, the kindness of the staff made me forget that I was on my own. Thank you for a wonderful stay

The staff, they were so friendly and accommodating. The upgraded room was incredible and a total surprise.

Friendly staff. Comfortable room. A nice cooked breakfast. Reception staff were very friendly and quickly assisted with a request for a power extension. Breakfast staff were also very friendly and accomodating

The shower was trying to kill me!. Once, I had struggled into the bath, got tangled in the shower curtain and took a huge heart in my mouth step out onto a very slippy marble floor, and narrowly avoiding cracking my head on the side of the glass sink. I survived, but you need to update the bathroom to address these aspects as it is pretty scary. Take out Bath for a walk in shower for easier acces, put down a less lethal floor surface to avoid slips and think about updating the sink to something less likely to cause an injury if a slip does occur.

Breakfast was served by the most friendly server I have ever met, her name was Eileen. So wonderful to be greeted by someone with a smile. I was fortunate to be upgraded to a Superior Room, which was comfortable and spacious. Managed to have their Sunday Roast with a free dessert for £16.50, honestly couldn't fault it. Homemade sticky toffee pudding worth travelling for

I liked EVERYTHING. Staff were friendly and remembered me, which was lovely. From check-in at reception by Mari to check-out with Maggs, I was made to feel very welcome.

Breakfast took a little time, the hotel is obviously understaffed but the person serving did a great job. The evening meal was good. The waiter/barman, general do-it-all was great - the Euros was on the TV and I asked if we could have it on and he sat us near to the TV and turned the sound up so we could hear without disturbing the other guests.

The fabric of the building could have done with some work. We have stayed here a few times and the place is looking a little tired. The room, especially the bathroom, was looking a little shabby. None the less, we felt quite comfortable.

My room was large with double bed and a sofa. Nice bathroom with strong shower Good choice at breakfast. Nice bar serving light meals. Swimming pool (weather wasn't good). Friendly and helpful staff

Summer duvet on bed wasn't warm enough but was changed for a winter duvet. Radiator and phone in room didn't work. Window was very small so room was a bit dark Some fresh fruit at breakfast would have been nice, only tinned grapefruit and prunes available

My room was a good size for a single traveller - a twin room with ensuite. Wifi worked well - I'd requested a room with good wifi and was told that being near the lift would help this - no idea why! All the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and a good range.

No real issues. One small one was that access to a bedside power point was not straight forward as it was hidden behind the bedside cabinet which needed to be kept pulled out for access. I couldn't find any signs showing where the swimming pool might be, and when I asked at reception I was instructed to go through the car park and round the back. Isn't there better access through the hotel anywhere?
