The hotel is quite centrally located, making it easy to walk around Canterbury and visit the sites. It has a free parking area at the back, which is helpful. The receptionist (a South African lady), was extremely helpful, guiding us on how to get around. The room was a good size, perhaps because they gave us a triple room (there was an extra single bed in the room, which we used to keep our luggage on it), even though we had booked a double.

There was a hair stuck to a tile in the shower, which we noticed when we arrived. It was not close to where we showered so we could ignore it, but it did make one wonder how thoroughly rooms are cleaned between guests. However, everything else looked clean. I was a bit disappointed about the free coffee at breakfast, which is the instant kind. I do not like instant coffee, so had to pay extra (more than GBP2.50 each) for machine-made americanos.

The hotel is loverly, the staff are nice. Its about 20 min walk from the centre of town. Highlight of the room was the extra tea making facilities in the form of hot chocolate and biscuits. The beds are comfy, its reasonably comfy. Restaurant downstairs that is a carvery and grill. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Only downside I would say is in the bathroom. No liquid soap dispenser only a bar of soap offered which I really don't like. Not much in the way of shower freebies apart from one bottle of something but I bought my own. I feel chain hotels like travelodge, hoilday inn offer more in this regard with dispensers on the wall. The shower was a bit out dated and the most infuriating thing which I hate in hotels is no shelf in the shower cubicle to put your toiletries while your showering. Apart from that a very pleasant stay and I have really loved it and I would most definitely stay again.

This is a real gem of a hotel in a great location with fantastic staff and facilities. Everyone was friendly, helpful, informative and demonstrated genuine care for their clientele, their comfort and enjoyment of their stay. The room was comfortable and had everything guests might need for a pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet offered both continental or full English breakfast or a combination of both. The English breakfast was freshly cooked to the guest's requirements - totally delicious! Lovely, comfy beds too. Everything worked!

The only thing I felt our room lacked was some hooks to hang our coats/bags on, or to hang clothes in the bathroom - a minor observation....

The reception staff are very attentive and always ready to help. Big shout out to the House Team, both the room and the communal areas were kept spotless. The rooms are just like any other hotel rooms but the beds are most comfy, excellent night's sleep The location is brilliant, just a 15 minute walk and your at the West Gate Tower with all the shops and of course the Cathedral, well worth the visit. Overall a great stay and would seriously consider staying here again.

The restaurant is not just for hotel guests, it's open to the public and Sunday is was heaving, so book your table if your staying over the weekend.

The hotel was a bit different at first from the outside, but we walked in, and it was lovely. We turned up 2 hours earlier and spoke to tara on reception she was very welcoming and lovely. Tony, the manager, had our room ready. It was lovely and big, very spacious. the bathroom was lovely and so nicely decorated. The food in the restaurant was amazing and was very tasty, breakfast was lovely, so many different options. Would 100% recommend coming back to this hotel not far from the town, just one walk straight down the road.

The location was very good: twenty minute walk to the city center; twenty-five to the Cathedral. The Victoria restaurant is excellent. We had dinner each night of our three night stay (good variety of vegetarian choices; best fish and chips and vegetarian lasagna- see pictures). The free parking in the back lot was very appreciated. Wifi was strong. Room was good size and very comfortable. Three floors; no elevator, we were on the third floor and staff helped with our luggage.

These are not dislikes, only suggestions or comments for improvements: there were no outlets on either side of the bed by the night stands (need to correct this - easy to do); no bathtub non-slip mat. (To prospective patrons, car entrance into the hotel back lot can be tricky. We missed it upon arrival and could not figure how to enter via the roundabout. Google maps was way off!). Hotel staff helped us.

The staff I thought where great, great food lots of choices regarding the continental breakfast that I had, and the evening meals I had there were great too, not far from town with good transport links to other places of interest and I like the decor of the place old worldly

There was no lift I am not a spring chicken anymore carrying my case was pain upstairs, the room I thought was a bit on the small size, maybe needs re configuring alright for a one night stay but I wasn't, maybe that should be taken into account regarding someone length of stay there

We had the very spacious family room or family apartment for our family. The breakfast was good and it was great to have an original pub with carvery in the house. It's not a fancy hotel (nor does it want to be, nor should it be) but a quaint pub with a good price-performance ratio. We would love to come back!

Perhaps a few more vegetarian options and a little more choice on the children's menu.

The room was lovely and clean. Also a great nights sleep even on the first night. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast & Dinner was delicious, A good selection for both. A 15 minute walk to town with lots to see including beautiful gardens and lake. See photos A big car park where we left our car nearly the whole time we were there. One day went to Whitstable beach a 20 minute ride.

Maybe air con would be good in rooms and restaurant. As weather was hot when we was there but fans are provided in rooms so still had a good nights sleep
