The hotel was very very clean in all areas. Very comfortable bed with good quality bedding. Room was clean with everything you needed, tea, coffee, water etc. The breakfasts were excellent, far more choice than expected, serial, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants and full English. The hotel was just on the edge of the village with a short walk to the cliff railway that took you down to the seaside part of the village. Also an easy walk to the valley of Rocks so overall in a good position for exploring. Free parking off road. Very well stocked bar.

It was near to the South West Coast Path. The hostess was very friendly and helpful, especially with regard to transport as it was the bank holiday, arranging for her daughter to collect us! Lovely and clean with fresh towels every day. Plenty of choice for breakfast.

Not much! My mattress could have been a bit softer but that is obviously a personal preference. Some soap in the bathroom would have been handy.

Breakfast was excellent with plenty of options. Location was good but a little further away from the main part of the town than we anticipated. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Parking was no problem Overall very satisfactory.

The bar could have been available for longer periods of time. I assume the landlady is scaling down operations as she is selling the property.

Why I didn't know about this place earlier.

Everything in the property was spotlessly clean and our room was peaceful and quiet. We were greeted with a Devon scone, jam and cream on arrival - an unexpected treat! The breakfast was just beautiful. We couldn't fault this place and would definitely come back.

If we have to mention anything, there was scaffolding outside the window, which slightly marred the view of the garden, but it's unlikely to be a permanent feature.

The mattress you could feel all the springs in your back .could also do with a light to come on To see to put your key in the lock after 22.00 Would have got full marks if not for the bed

Everything. On arrival, a plaque welcomed us by name. Nice personal touch. We were welcomed and shown to our room by the owner. She asked if we would like dinner in their restaurant and we initially said we'd probably go down into Lynmouth or into Lynton itself to look at eating. But we thought again and did eat in the hotel and we were glad that we did. The food was lovely. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a generous tea/coffee hospitality tray. Shower was excellent. Bed very comfortable and we felt totally at home. We walked after tea on the upper coast circular path of the "Valley of Rocks" (there are several path options) and this upper one took us literally to the high cliff edges and then weaving back into central Lynton itself. The views were incredible!! There were actually goats wandering round and they didn't approach us, but we were able if we wished to go very close to them for photos. Such an unexpected thing. That walk took about an hour. and was stunning. The next morning we had a terrific breakfast (lovely selection of fresh fruit / cereals / croissants and an English too). After that a walk into Lynton (15 minutes or less to the heart) and then down to Lynmouth on the famous Funicular. That in itself is a wonderful thing. About 500 feet high (we think) and great fun for all the family. We stayed two nights as part of a tour around Devon & Cornwall and in our opinion, "Sandrock" was lovely. Such friendly people as owners. We couldn't have felt more welcome. Definitely one to return to next time we're in the North Devon region for us. As a closing comment, the "Valley of Rocks" is a huge draw and when you see it, you'll know why. A longer walk (we did) on our final morning taking a different path resulted in over 100 photos of this magnificent natural landmark. You can take hours to walk it if you like or do shorter versions.

Loved the welcome as soon as we entered, and were surprised by the scones and cream in our room. Jane was a wonderful hostess and supplied our every need, making us feel at home from home. We'll come again.

The only thing that could have been better was the weather, but that is Britain for you and we are used to a bit of rain. Still had a great time.
