Lovely property with heaps of character and gorgeous views over the harbour. The hotel was as warm as toast during our November stay. Bed was very comfy and the breakfast was delicious.

Our room was a little tired with chipped paint on the doors and skirting boards. The wardrobe and bathroom doors that were a little tough to open and close. We had to go outside and walk up the street to get to our room which was a bit strange and rather unexpected. We had dinner in the restaurant on the day that we arrived, which was delicious, but we felt was expensive for what we had.

The friendliness of the staff at immediate arrival (Scott could not have been more cordial). Despite arriving a little later than expected, I was treated with a lamb dish, which was purely delightful, beautifully presented & the comfort of the bar area overlooking the sea was simply divine. I was sad to go to another (prebooked) establishment after a scrummy full English breakfast...hot & once more, exceptionally presented. Nothing felt too much trouble. I had to come back for the Sunday roast...my crikey, I'm glad I did. A tipple (or two) watching the world go by outside was nothing short of idyllic. A wonderful get away which I highly recommend.

Absolutely nothing that I did not like!

A beautiful, charming and historic location - we always look forward to staying here. Friendly, helpful staff and great views from the rooms.

Not as smart and not as clean as it should be / used to be, especially around the entrance, the kitchen door and the carpet in the reception area and stairs. Some of the food in the restaurant is excellent but the packed lunches and certain choices from the menu were strange and not very nice.

Lovely cosy room. Amazing bath! Helpful, friendly staff and nice breakfast.

Booked in for an evening meal which was not good value for money, limited menu. Would have liked some traditional dishes. We paid the same as friends but they had a sea view. When questioned they said the room we had was bigger- but it wasn’t and a view wins no matter the size! We will stay again but we will make sure we ask for a sea view and will probably go to a local pub for some wholesome pub food.

Food was OK. We only had dinner at the hotel on 1 evening which was fine.

Our room had a shower over the bath which would have been OK if there had been a shower screen or curtain. Unfortunately this resulted in the bathroom getting a little flooded on the first night.! We explained this to a member of staff. For the rest of my stay I had to try and wash standing in the bath and my husband having to wash my hair over the bath to avoid flooding!

Small room, but lovely view over the harbour and cliffs beyond. Very tasty and satisfying breakfast, but bar area (where breakfast served for dogs owners) uncomfortably cold without a jumper/jacket. Great location and a very happy stay.

The journey there! Severe flooding around the area due to heavy rainfall (turned back by the police on 2 occasions and it took several hours to get there from Glastonbury) - obviously, no fault of the hotel. Room very small, but to be expected in this type of old harbourside property (I was allocated this room due to my request for a bath tub, which was a priority for me).

Wonderful location, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. There is so much traditional charm about the property and the welcome you receive is fantastic. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as it was a little out of our budget but the food looked incredible. The breakfast was a delight. We have to say Thank You especially to Marc for his hospitality. He is an asset to the hotel and shares wonderful ideas of things to do in the area. Nothing is too much trouble for Marc, he makes guests feel special and at home. Marc made our trip! Thank you!

We enjoyed an excellent 3 night stay at The Rising Sun, Lynmouth. Our 2nd floor room had an unbelievable view across the town, harbour and out to sea. Everything was wonderful here. A very comfortable bed, perfectly appointed room, the bathroom had a wonderful shower (with a glass door). Breakfast was to order and was delicious with lots of choice. The staff were very friendly, polite and professional and made us feel very welcome, greeting us every morning and whenever we popped in and out during our stay. Lynmouth, itself, is such a beautiful place to visit. We loved our stay at The Rising Sun and will take our memories with us for the rest of our lives. Thanks, especially, to Will, Kim, Mark and Maria who made our stay so special and memorable. We would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Nothing to dislike at The Rising Sun, Lynmouth.

I liked the fact that when we arrived and they have double booked our seats facing room, they exchanged it for one of the cottages at no extra charge

Initially we were taken through some very winding corridors and staircases to a rear facing room, which was not what we had booked, but on pointing this out to them, they immediately remedied the situation

The location is excellent. Good cooked breakfast. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. My room was very clean. Perhaps my only preference that was lacking would be a proper shower. My room had a handset spray bath tap. I managed to soak the floor every time I used it and beware the hot tap is incredibly hot. That said the bathroom was well fitted and finished cleaned every day. Overall a great few days at The Rising Sun.
