I would highly recommend staying at Riad Baladin. It’s located a few steps from the fort in the medina of Essaouira. Plenty of places to explore nearby. Felix and Marwa were both very welcoming, I got some great tips from Felix for food (veggie to veggie) and they didn’t disappoint. The breakfast on the terrace is delicious, and the ladies working there were so welcoming and attentive. In the evening a gentleman is on hand if you need help, again, lovely man! The rooms themselves are beautifully decorated, comfy bed and stylish bathroom. It’s quiet at night, and you can hear the sound of the sea and wind, just outside as you drift to sleep.

Riad Baladin is easily one of my favorite places I have stayed on all my travels! It has a lovely rustic bohemian vibe and decor that reflects how close it is to the sea, and little cozy touches like candles and oil burners are always lit. It's well located to all the things to see in Essaouira (don't miss sunset at the port!) and though it's tucked away down a side street the area feels very safe. Breakfast on the roof terrace is delicious (and is on until noon, which is unusual!). All the staff I met were just the kindest most wonderful people, everyone was very attentive and helpful. Special mention to Felix, the manager (allegedly :p), and Simba (the ginger cat) for the warm welcome, the restaurant recommendations, all the tea, and for always being around and checking in with everyone. I had a wonderful stay and will be back soon. Love to Essaouira from Edinburgh! :-)

Riad Baladin is in a perfect location, close to good restaurants and the main street in town, but also tucked away on a quiet side-street. From the rooftop terrace there is a great view over the medina and to the sea, with lovely breeze and seagulls swooping by. Breakfast on the terrace was delightful and delicious. Felix, the manager, was on hand to welcome us and provided a helpful map of the town with suggestions relevant to our interests. He and his ginger cat were also around most of the time to help out with any questions or making arrangements to get to places. Essaouira was a great starting point for our journey in Morocco and I'm glad we spent 5 nights there to unwind, explore and enjoy it. The Riad is attractively furnished, well-equipped and comfortable. I hope we'll have a chance to return soon.

Steps up to the rooftop terrace could be a bit dicey for anyone with poor mobility as they were quite deep and uneven.

The riad was the nicest we stayed during our two-week Morocco holiday. It had a cosy and relaxing atmosphere, fantastic shared areas, stunning rooftop terrace, clean and comfortable bedrooms and a great jacuzzi! The staff was pleasant and very welcoming. We had to check out early to make our flight in Marrakesh and they were able to accommodate for a full served breakfast at 6am, when the timing would have started at 8.30. It is also easily located in the medina, within walking distance from the beach and all shops and restaurants.

One thing we noticed here, but also in all other riads we stayed at, is that the walls are quite this so it can get noisy at times.

The riad is a little oasis of tranquility in the bustling medina. A perfect blend between traditional architecture and comfort, the riad is designed very well to let in a lot of light, which is often not the case in Morocco. The single room is snug but stil feels spacious. The bathroom was very clean. I didn't use the hot tub, but they have a system where you can easily book it over the course of the day (it's almost always available) and so you can have it to yourself! The breakfast on the terrace is excellent both in terms of location and the quality of the food. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, starting from Felix, the manager, as well as the breakfast staff and the night guard, who prepared an excellent breakfast for me before opening times.

Perhaps the roooms could be a little more sound proof, as you can hear the other guests walking by the room, but very minor issue!

I have stayed here many times. It feels like home. I love the location ( outskirts medina/ near sea). Love the decor of the place ( bonus for an interior designer). The rooms vary all in lay-out and decor. Breakfast is excellent on the roofterrace from 8-12. Parking is near in a square ( moulay hassan) which is either free ( left Side) or cheap ( right Side). Staff is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Speaking french and english. And there is monsieur Zimba!our orange cat friend. Its our home in Essaouira, will surely be back if life allows us,

We really enjoyed our stay at this Riad. It’s a beautiful and peaceful, with traditional Moroccan style. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooftop breakfast was simple yet delicious. The room was clean and comfortable, though a bit small. The location is great—right in the Medina—but it can be a little hard to find at first.

One thing to note: taxis can’t reach the Riad directly since it’s inside the Medina. However, if you call ahead, they can arrange a hand cart to help with luggage from the main road outside the Medina for an extra charge.

It is an exceptional hotel very well run. The breakfast and the staff were great. The lady on reception was exceptional , very helpful, she even contacted us before we arrived and helped us a lot. Nothing was a problem for her. The rooms was very different but really lovely, nothing wrong with the complimentary Hot tub either. This Riad is a little gem run by people who really know their business. I could go on and on,just visit!

Riad Baladin was wonderful! The Riad is super clean and has a lovely atmosphere. Our room was beautiful and the rooftop is really well set up and maintained. The staff were wonderful and Felix in particular went to great lengths to ensure we were comfortable during our stay and well orientated in Essaouira. It’s in an excellent location in the Medina. Highly recommend!

Very minor feedback - our room had a lovely big bathtub but we discovered that there wasn’t enough hot water in the system to get the water up to a good level. As I said though, a minor point.

Absolutely everything from the incredible welcome we received from.Felix and team Felix really made us feel so at home he is so very helpful and has a fantastic way of engaging with everyone a true host We loved our room it was just fabulous loved hearing the ocean it's perfectly situated breakfast served on the terrace such a beautiful way to start the day great food The service by staff was exceptional they treated me like a queen for my birthday which I so apprecIated. We most certainly will return we highly recommend baladin it was very difficult to leave we truly fell in love with it
