Gothic House is located in the town of East Grinstead and close to cafes and pubs. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable with a nice view of the church yard.

CJ Cafe was closed due to renovations. Opening soon.

Very clean, wonderful solid furniture, friendly welcoming staff, great location.

The pillows were extremely full and rounded which made them hard to sleep on without having your neck strained- from my perspective.

A charming and characterful building on the high street with stylish large rooms, near cafes and restaurants. Our bathroom was large with a big shower and lovely free standing roll-top bath. Despite being on the high street the double glazed windows kept it quiet. The owner is relatively new and keen to expand and improve the venue, being an old building there are some areas of outstanding maintenance to catch up on . Memhet was friendly and helpful, we had a lovely breakfast on the terrace at the back which is a delightful place to eat overlooking the beautiful 18c church of St. swithuns.

Being an old building there are some decorative issues to catch up with . If you are old or infirm there are a flight of stairs up to the rooms.

Really lovely staff who clearly care a lot about their business. Nice cosy hotel with very comfy bed and excellent location. I stayed as I had a hospital apt at QVH and it was just a short walk, but hotel is right in the lovely historic old town part of East Grinstead with shops, cafes and bookshop a short walk. Breakfast was exceptional. Would definitely stay again.

Toilet seat a bit loose, bathroom clean/fine but could do with a revamp. Was gutted that there was noone there when I went for breakfast the second morning. It was v early (because I had a meeting after), and there had been staff illness, so haven't marked down for it as these things happen - just sad because the breakfast was so good!

We liked the room, which was a decent size. Decent sized old fashioned bed with wooden headboard. Views over the churchyard, with lovely sound of church bells in the morning which was fine. There was a clean small showerroom.

The showerroom was a bit cramped, but allowed more bedroom space. It is an old building so limited options to change this. The stairs up from the ground floor to the bedroom, we're a bit daunting especially coming downstairs, but given the age of the building they were fine.

Comfortable and warm on a chilly might! Staff very friendly and check in was swift. Perfect for an overnight stay and although Gothic House is centrally located on a busy road, this twin room is at the back of the property so is very quiet. Proper thick curtains also helped by minimising light entry.

The bathroom blind doesn't draw all the way down and is overlooked by an outdoor seating area - we were advised it's due to be replaced and the seating area was unlikely to be occupied at this time of year so want an issue on this occasion.

Room was good size and beds were comfortable. Tea, coffee was provided. As the name indicates the house is old and therefore the plumbing is kind of old as well. But it functions and that is all it matters. Hotel is in center of old town with all the restaurants, coffee shops and shops on the doorstep. Restaurant, and JC bar are connected to the hotel.

Can't really complain as I liked the music, but you can hear it in the room till the end. But at least it stops by 11pm. We had some issue with the shower but it was remedied next morning. I didn't like the window facing the terrace where people go for a smoke. You need to keep the windows shut. But you can always request another room if you know about that.

Host extremely kind and helpful. The windows in our room are opposite beautiful ancient church - our stay felt more peaceful. Parking very close was free on high Street between 6pm to 8am. East Grinstead is Husband said he had the best night’s sleep! 💤 Shame a neighbour kept slamming their back door around 10pm (hotelier informed And responded to me immediately).

Room very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very nice. My friend and I were vising Hever Castle the next day and this property was a short distance from the Castle.

I am not a regular user of Booking.com so didn't understand, when it said parking, I thought it would have its own car park. Only parking is a short walk which you have to pay for (two car parks), not too much of an issue just myself not reading the details properly

Staff were very friendly. The room was clean and furnished beautifully. The food was good and the terrace lovely for drinks. Breakfast was excellent and offered traditional full English and a range of vegan, vegetarian and other tempting choices. I would definitely go back there. The location enabled us to walk straight onto the high street with its historic buildings and great shops and eating venues. Parking is available close by. We would recommend the Gothic house and will be returning there. Thank you for making our stay so pleasurable.
