Set in beautiful grounds, spacious, old world style and elegance. Good facilities with a lovely pool and health facilities. We had a relaxing massage and a very nice dinner. Excellent choices for breakfast both cooked to order and self service items. Lovely room with comfy bed, separate sitting room and a jacuzzi bath and overlooking a lake and fountain. Very peaceful and quiet. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

We were initially put in a smaller room several floors up with no lift. As I have a lung condition I was not able to climb the stairs so we requested to be moved to a lower floor. This was done and we were given a lovely room that was more easily accessible for me. I think the hotel should warn guests that there is no lift and a lot of stairs

The location and building was amazing, so stunning with the naked eye. So much to explore around the grounds with a stunning church, secret garden, lake, snooker room to name a few. The breakfast was superb with so much choice from continental and hot meal to choose from, also caters for people who are gluten free. All staff were formally dressed and very polite and knowledgeable of the local areas. Loads of indoor and outdoor seating with a hotel bar selling everything you wish for at a reasonable price. This place is an ideal place to stay if you are going to explore the willie and Pooh forest and cafe with it being around 5-10 min drive from the hotel. If you find meals quite expensive at the hotel I recommend the Red Lion pub that is 6 mins from the hotel that sell excellent and decent priced food. The country club section where the pool was excellent with free provided towels, large pool with a jacuzzi. Changing rooms were spacious with free lockable lockers. In addition the showers had an over head shower head with Morton brown soaps and shampoos, and a swim wear dryer which was amazing! The room itself was a nice large classical room with a comfy bed, free teas and coffees with cookies, tv, en-suite with Morton brown soaps and shampoos. We loved the willie and Pooh themed sections around the hotel and the bedroom Overall a gorgeous location and building and would return!

Sadly the en-suite bathroom was quite small for us due to being tall people, the water pressure on the bathroom sink was weak. Around the grounds there was no place to fill up bottles for water and there was a noticeable lack of bins around the hotel. The price of the hotel food is expensive was a bit of a turn off to eat there hence why we eat elsewhere. There is no lift in the main hotel towards the rooms.

Everything! Our room was lovely with a view over the old inner courtyard, a nice bathroom with a decent shower, & comfortable seating area & comfortable bed. Breakfast & dinner were excellent.

We had a Nespresso machine in the room with 2 types of coffee pods but no de-caffeinated. When I asked reception all they could offer were awful instant coffee sachets, not even coffee bags. A real disappointment at such a smart hotel as I can't have caffine & shouldn't have to bring my own decent coffee. Not a problem for us but our room was a bit of a walk from reception & we got lost initially, so if you have mobility issues ask for a closer room.

Lots of comfortable sofas and 3 lounge areas Luxurious bed, super comfy with wonderful pillows Nice pool and jacuzzi Friendly, helpful staff Turn down service was a nice touch Newspapers in lounges Lovely dining room with comfortable carver chairs Great breakfast Extensive grounds, well kept

Dated carpets Sofas need upgrading No sauna or steam room Jacuzzi too small The mushroom pasta meal (dinner) was very disappointing, dry, lacked flavour and imagination, very basic, felt I could do better myself at home Not many vegetarian/ vegan choices on the menu

Beautiful hotel and grounds in a very peaceful location. Room was cosy feeling, my kind of style. Was glad fans were provided during the heatwave. We loved the park view from our room and took a lovely walk on the grounds. The secret garden was a pretty place to relax in the shade on a hot day. Staff were very friendly and wanted the best for our stay. Look forward to booking here again.

Some parts of breakfast were a let down. Tofu scramble was just broken up pieces of tofu, no flavour at all. Avocado toast comes on a grey square of bread, also no flavour added to the avocado. There is lovely sourdough out at the buffet why not use the same bread for the avocado toast? The rest of the breakfast was lovely. Service at bar was a bit slow.

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff were absolutely 5* so friendly, accommodating and professional. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and booked in for dinner. The food was amazing. I wish I had taken notice of the gentleman’s name that took care of us that night. We spontaneously decided to stay the night even though we had no change of clothes or any toiletries, but we had decided to try a few too many cocktails which were delicious so obviously couldn’t drive home!! The young lady behind the bar was so lovely, her customer service for one so young was impeccable and after discussing the cocktail list with her we found out that she hadn’t really made cocktails before…we would never have known because she did a fab job. (I did suggest she ask you to send her on a training course to become a mixologist, I think it would make her an even bigger asset to you). We were delighted when the gentleman from the restaurant presented us with a plate with cake and chocolates on it saying ‘Happy Anniversary’ in chocolate and then told us he managed to get our room upgraded because it was our anniversary. Absolutely blown away! Because we had nothing to change into to go to breakfast, we ordered it to our room…it was really lovely. A great selection which helped to absorb the alcohols from the night before. The next time we return we want to come for the weekend and enjoy the Spa too! Our experience was 10 out of 10. Thank you so much for making our 35th Wedding Anniversary a memorable one.

If I had one extremely small criticism it would be that there were no bath robes in the room, but that’s it. Not a massive problem and had no effect on our stay at the hotel. It was all wonderful.

Such a luxurious hotel set in a wonderful location with a chapel adjoining it with the most beautiful stained glass. A superb wedding venue! The grounds are stunning and the staff are attentive. The hotel is like a stately home and the meals reflect this, as do the cosy bar and lounge areas. Our fabulous bedroom was a good size overlooking a courtyard and well furnished with ample storage space. The bed was solid and comfortable and the luxury bathroom had a pleasing shower and decor. We loved staying here. We also made use of the pool and jacuzzi while staying at the hotel. The hotel is in a good location close to Winnie the Pooh 's Pooh sticks bridge. We went to Arundel while here but it is not far from other places worth a visit like East Grinstead, Lewes and Brighton. Arundel is just over an hour away but it has a castle and a cathedral.

We had no complaints. The radiators are a bit noisy sometimes but to stay in this hotel has been a real pleasure.

This Hotel is pure class, staff are amazing and attentive from the moment you arrive, the place is luxurious, clean, grand and beautiful set in acres of grounds. Room clean with good facs and shower / bath. Breakfast was excellent. We used the Brasserie for evening meals and loved it - bit more relaxing than main restaurant. Staff really pokite and friendly. Lovely snooker room with settees below bar area. We hired bikes, went to Gym, used swimming pool and played table tennis. We had an amazing time in luxurious surroundings, thank you

Little putting green outside house could do with a revampo

Breakfast included in my price. There was a good variety of items for a buffet breakfast and there were several good hot choices. I stayed two nights and was pleased with my choices. The service was excellent and and attentive but not suffocating. Dinner was delicious and both meals I ate there were very well cooked. My steak was exactly as I requested. The service was very good indeed and everyone was working as a team, from the oldest to the youngest. The respect they showed to the quests was second to none. The barman in the Cocktail bar was knowledgeable and Friendly.

A lift would have been nice as I have mobility issues but a porter carried my case upstairs for me. I appreciate in such an old building a lift is not easily fitted in.

We checked in on 04/04/25 on our arrival the grounds are spectacular, it really is beautiful and well kept, large trees, flowering trees and wildlife. The building and reception area is very quirky and traditionally grand, with amazing art work and architecture. Our room was medium sized with many complimentary condiments. The room was spotless and comfortable . Breakfast is made to order and there are great choices with lots of variety. The Staff here are helpful, friendly and professional. The location is perfect nestled in to the Ashdown forest and the views are breathtaking.. The hotel also has a beautiful water feature and trail. We loved this hotel and is definitely recommended.
