The staff were very pleasant and lovely, welcoming and professional. The surrounding area is great for discovering some quintessential English countryside and heritage, I think we found around 5 or six amazing castles/manors with gardens in the nearby area just a short drive away.

The pool and spa facilities are not included in the hotel booking price, for a couple this is an extra £80 per night. It was my fault for not thoroughly checking beforehand, and the booking.com description with "extra charges" looked to me like it meant there was the possibility of special treatments which cost extra, which is normal. But no, it will cost each person £40 a night to have pool and jacuzzi access. Not the best considering the supposed 5 star rating and base price. We paid for one night before we realized it just wasn't worth it, but charged us at the end for every night anyway. It was refunded later but that assumption felt scammy to me.

The spa area, the room, and the public spaces were well cared-for and comfortable. Excellent pool, mini pool with jacuzzi and separate jacuzzi too. Very well-maintained and a lot of seating. The spa suite room was huge and had a sizeable bathroom with a free-standing tub and large shower, which also offers a steam room facility - not experienced that before. The restaurant offered a good choice for lunch, although it is not cheap. It was great to have a garden with a hot tub - the weather was amazing which helped. Good indoor pool and an excellent hot stone massage - thanks Belle!

There is no separate dinner menu so we had one lunch, and then ate at a couple of local restaurants for our dinners: TBH there is not a lot of choice locally unless you go for the very high-end dining. Some of the seating looks tired and the local birds are pretty active (!) so I would have expected the furniture and balcony to be given a quick clean each morning. Prices are reasonable for 5-star but given my comments perhaps 4-star would be more accurate. That said, we have a wonderful time and would go back, despite the niggles.

Everything was fantastic and lived up to the five star rating. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. and all staff were welcoming and friendly. We were upgraded and stayed in a garden suite which was very well appointed and was enormous compared to other rooms at other hotels. The Spa was great with both indoor and outdoor facilities. Private hot tubs for hire, if you wanted them..

The steam rooms were in the changing rooms in the Spa. The breakfast was a little disappointing. There did not seem to be enough staff to cope with the demand. We had to ask three times for coffee and then were served it twice, I almost sent my Eggs Benedict back as it was nearly too cold to eat but fed back our concerns as we checked out. On reflection room service may have been a better option for breakfast. We would however definitely stay again and loved the experience.

The bed was very comfortable and the rooms very clean. Staff were all very friendly

On arrival, the electric car charging points wouldn't connect to my car - tried several times and wasted 30 minutes when already late at night. 70p per kw for a slow charger is beyond expensive. Rooms and corridors/stairways looking like they have had their day with regards to wear and tear. The breakfast was average, on my second morning the boiled eggs were so over done they were inedible and didnt allow time to send back so realistically breakfast didnt happen that morning.

The outside area was fantastic, we stayed with my Dog who was welcomed in the bar area and outside areas . we had to have a garden suite which was excellent and we would stay again .

service charge on our food and drinks which was a little steep on a £700 bill the service charges where over £100 pound . Have no problem in leaving a tip but don't think this is fair . That would be my only negative as fab place but dont be to greedy we had already spent £500 a night for 2 suites

The staff are very helpful and welcome. The decor inside is down to detail. Spa garden is wonderful, however I suggest to try before dinner as it close at 8 quite early.

1/ There is a very dirty towel in my room. it looks like makeup and eyelash on it. it’s disappointing to see such towel in a 5 star hotel. 2/ Also the sound proof between rooms is terrible.

The staff were lovely, and the food was great. I went with a vegan and found the options at dinner a little limited but said that the food tasted great, we also found out a vegan afternoon tea was possible. Spar facilities were nice to hang out at and area was very relaxing.

The pool area is small, so if busy, you may not get a lounger. The inside hot tub did not seem very hot, and the water from the jets came out cold, but the rest of the spar facilities were good.

Attentive service, lovely log fires even early in the morning, spa with good facilities and good size pool. Evening meal exceptional

Marble floors in spa dangerously slippery made worse by slippers- take flip flops. I had booked a small attic double but had a good sized room with excellent bathroom although windows were obscured due to banks of a/c units outside. Did not matter to me as arrived in the dark but would want to know about this if staying when longer days or wanted to open windows.

the location and building and rooms where lovely

the dinner was awful , really one of the worst meals we have ever had regardless of price and this was expensive which made it worse., the fish starter was badly undercooked with raw flesh and blood inside and the main steak was also undercooked and much nearer to rare than medium... and service was bad...waited a lot time after our starter and later tables where being served around us and we realized we had been forgotten. we had to get a waiters attention and then after a flurry of actively our meals eventually arrive.

It was a very relaxing experience. The staff were very professional and down to earth. The hotel and grounds were beautiful. There were plenty of interesting places within 5 miles of the Hotel to visit.

Too much furniture in our room ( could take out one chair and a console table The champagne bar food didn't change all week very limited. Being a hotel guest we still had to pay extra daily for the indoor pool.
