We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Tenuta Casteani and had a thoroughly wonderful stay. From early communication at booking through to arrival and our time on the wine resort, the staff were excellent and attentive. Our overall goals was to relax, disconnect from day-to-day life and reconnect as a couple after a stressful few months - mission accomplished on all fronts! We actually extended our stay by another two nights and were very glad to have - most other visitors seemed to stay for a shorter time but we were perfectly happy for a week. The pool is a good size (there are actually 2) with great views over the valleys. Daily pool maintenance cleaned the water and the floor, meaning the pool was good to go. A selection of chairs/loungers and umbrellas means you can (and we did) spend an entire day by the poolside. Take sandals though, as the floor is a lovely but bumpy stone/tile. The wine from the resort was wonderful - I particularly enjoyed the Terra di Casteani and the use of a home-made sparkling wine for a twist on the Aperol Spritz was great to enjoy in the afternoons. Regional access is great, with mainline trains from Grosseto to Pisa/Firenze and Rome, meaning easy access for day trips. A short-ish drive from Tuscan highlights of Siena/Volterra, as well as the thermal baths in the region. We hired a car from Fiumicino Airport and drove (2h30) but you could just as easily hire in Grosseto and/or arrange a taxi transfer, though we'd recommend a car hire else you're a bit isolated. It is important to remember that this is a working agriturismo/wine resort and not a "hotel"; as such, some creature comforts like a bar aren't in place. That being said we were well taken care of and the staff were super attentive. We are the type of couple that likes to try somewhere new, but we would absolutely stay at Tenuta Casteani again; even taking our young daughter who would enjoy the grounds.

The air conditioning within the room was adequate but could be better given the intense heat of a Tuscan summer, but this doesn't detract from the overall stay and our room was cool enough for the most part - just remember to close the blinds in the afternoon to stop the sun heating the room! The driveway was rough and bouncy - good car suspension needed (we had a hire Fiat 500) but the team clearly recognise this and were working away on it with a small digger - this seems to be a regional issue we encountered at other venues that we visited.

The pool area is excellent, with plenty of loungers and chairs for all guests — no need to rush for a spot. You can even enjoy a swim at night ;)) The restaurant for dinner is fantastic, offering delicious wines from a local winery at very reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and responsive, always ready to help. Rooms are clean and feel just like home. Everything is comfortable and welcoming — we truly enjoyed our stay!

One thing to note: having a car is essential

We utilized this property to provide overflow space for our nearby wedding and rented multiple rooms. The location and property was amazing and we were so happy we chose it for our guests who could not stay at the venue. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the property and the staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and had a good time.

Stunning views, pool was perfect and clean. Pool towls available on request. Breakfast was delicious with good options. The room had a fridge, bottle opener, air con was perfect in the 35 degree heat. Bed was very comfy. We were visting for a wedding at the next door wine resort and this was the perfect location

Shower didnt always get hot but that didnt matter in the boiling hot tuscan sun.

It’s a small very rustic property, the rooms are very traditional. The staff were very accommodating and if they could do it they would. The food options are limited and we had children with us, as they don’t stock things like ketchup this at times can be problematic. The wine selection as good and reasonably priced. They offer horse riding, wine tasting and a number of walking trails.

The pool area is surrounded with traditional paving and this is quite uneven, it’s tough to walk on without shoes. The property is in a remote location.

Incredible location, great pool, friendly service

If being picky breakfast was not as great as it could be given the price and the rest of the experience, it would have been improved with more options - perhaps eggs cooked on request?

The pool could do with some attention , and we had the same bed sheets for all 7 nights which needed to be changed really. Some food was a bit random and we didn’t even have pizza …

We didn’t really love the restaurant - the food wasn’t great, and we feel it was a bit understaffed.

The views from the property were sensational and the outdoor seating were fabulous. The lodgings were superb.

The front of house were not overly friendly or helpful. The ladies in the restaurant were amazing.

What an amazing stay! The location is incredible, with the most amazing views of Tuscany from the top of a hill. The breakfast was incredible as well as the wine tasting.
