Spacious bedroom with shower room in a separate block of 3 at the back of the Inn. Very comfortable 6 foot wide bed. Heating from adjustable radiator. Wide-screen television on the wall opposite the end of the bed. Kettle, but insufficient tea, coffee and sugar - was provided when requested. Evening meal in the pub was excellent and at a reasonable price.
1) We had not noticed when we booked our overnight stay that breakfast was not available so had to go in search of food, ending up in Sherborne! 2) The scatter cushions on the bed were grubby, depositing bits on the duvet cover!

The hotel was cosy, comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was great and huge portions.
The sink in the bathroom in our room is too small. You can't turn on the water with any sort of pressure because you and the floor get soaked. It was almost impossible to fill the kettle for a cuppa. We were right over the bar. The music was loud enough we could hear the lyrics of the sings being played. Some serious soundproofing would be a massive help.

The gorgeous location of Sparkfod Inn really sets it off. Easy to find by road, with good offroad parking. Very generously proportioned room, lovely restaurant & bar and a wonderful, warm staff. The food is nice and set at a very reasonable cost point, the little nook bar is lovely and is right on the doorstep of some exquisite countryside. The room I'd stayed in was Room 1 which is at the 'back of the house', this overlooks a private residence which is also in keeping with its setting. Wonderful amount of storage, staying a whole week or more would be very easily managed. The bathroom is shower over bath, but is a reasonably powerful electric shower.
There were a few minor grumbles, the room could use a deep clean as the uncommon areas had attracted some dust (was going to place one of my bags on the wardrobe until I noticed), there was also what appeared to be remnants of crisps in one of the drawers. The bathroom needs a little attention as this has succumbed to the ravages of steam not being adequately ventilated (no extract fitted) and one of the light fixtures could benefit from an electrician as the cable is starting to come through the lighting rose. On my visit, there was an early morning heating oil delivery to the adjoining private residence (good job I'm an early riser) and there is one door within the property that was frequently slamming frequently until about 23:00 at night, this could be heard and felt at Room No. 1.

We had a family room so liked that it had 2 beds and space to walk about, a shower with hot running water, tea/ coffee, milk, sugar, kettle in room, ample lights, long mirror and vanity seated area with mirror, night stand with drawers with lamp for readers and plug sockets so can charge phone next to bed. Also had wardrobe with 2 hangers to hang clothes up and a iron and ironing board, fan and spare bedding, and a hairdryer in vanity drawer. Plenty big Towels and hand towels in bathroom and little cute shampoo and shower wash bottles, plenty toilet roll. Staff were very approachable and friendly so if you did need anything you felt you could ask. Was a 20 min walk to the Hayes motor museum and well sign posted on route, which was where we were going. Food arrived quick, hot and tasty and a good selection of beverages for all, plenty room for dining and a beautiful garden with ample seating for when the weather is glorious, music in bar and pool or snooker table too. We had family room 10.
Would have been even better with 2 double beds instead of 1 single 1 double but we didn't actually ask , so ask x

The staff were excellent - Izzy behind the bar was clearly very busy and running the place virtually on her, she was extreemly pleasant and chearful and very efficient. The food was delicious and the beer cold on a hot day !
Some of the previous reviews have been unfair I felt. It is an old building and I only paid £72 for my room, it was very comfortable and clean. Yes the windows were old and did not close properly but it was the hottest day of the year and stayed nice and cool. They do not offer breakfast but I was told this on arrival and advised there was a decent fast food restaurant and pertrol station up the road.

Lovely, spacious room. Comfortable bed. Good temperature & clean. Tea & coffee facilities in room. Shower gel & shampoo in bathroom for an overnight stay. Dressing table. Good local pub with a lovely welcoming atmosphere.
Nothing at all. Room wouldn't be suitable for someone with mobility issues, getting to the room involved various steps & stairs, twist and turns down hallways. It would benefit from better lighting by the dresser to apply makeup in the evening and herbal tea too. Will be great once they are set up with serving breakfast on the premises. Would benefit from instructions at the door where to check in.

There is no breakfast offered at the hotel, but there are places a short car journey away to eat.The bar/restaurant has a good choice of food and is open for drinks and meals from lunchtime. The room was clean, welcoming and comfortable.
I would have preferred breakfast on site. A fridge in the room would have made a difference to be able to keep drinks cool in the hot weather. We were in a family room which was outside the main hotel and, unfortunately, the free WiFi from the hotel didn't reach to where we were staying.

Lovely old inn and spacious accommodation. The upstairs seems to be haunted - a ghost (or similar) was quite active over several hours on the first night in one of the rooms, but much less so the second night. Nice television and comfortable bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Lovely accommodation arranged over two rooms plus a bathroom and good-sized car park.
My room (Room 4) seemed to be haunted, but I got used to it, and this probably is to be expected. A very pleasant stay in a lovely old inn.

Pretty pub/hotel in rural location. Very handy for wedding in nearby location. Lunch "deal" good quality and excellent value. Rooms comfortable.
Had a "last" drink at bar on the Friday upon returning from wedding venue. Left venue on the Saturday as a group for a final drink or two before 11.00 but found that bar had been closed at 10.30p, All guests more than a little annoyed!!

Nice location, easy parking and close proximity to road home. Dinner was great and reasonable, staff friendly and chatty as they worked. The junior suite was reasonable and enough comfort areas and you could spend a few days here if needed. We would visit again
I felt the need to block a couple of places eg a pipe entering the room had a big aperture and did t fancy any unwelcome visitors. There was no evidence of anything and we had a good night
