Really enjoyed the breakfast. Excellent. The problem I had was that in the evening we had dinner there. We thought that it was particularly sparse with choice and the amount. We eat a la carte quite a lot but never so meagre with portions. Also I asked for a sparking wine in the bar after and found out that the bottle had been opened the previous day and it basically was flat. So I didn't have it as they refused to open a new one. Again I have been places and they are very happy to open a fresh one. I think they should introduce the smaller bottles with choice of rose as well. The food at breakfast was extremely good and plentiful. The rooms very good and comfortable. Everything else was excellent. Wouldn't recommend the dinner.

Superb hotel situated in one of the most beautiful locations I have ever seen! I cannot express enough just how enchanting Sherborne is. My husband and I went on a 11 kilometre hike through the countryside and came across landscapes and features that left us breathless and in awe. To live here is to be blessed with some of the most exquisite surroundings. As for the hotel, the chef and his team served some of the most delicious dishes of food, mostly locally sourced, fresh and cooked to perfection. I cannot fault the food. The staff were charming and attentive. The hotel and restaurant were busy the entire time and yet the service did not faulter. The hotel is well-maintained, clean, with loads of character and plenty to keep the eye busy with eclectic trinkets and decor. The rooms are large, very clean with modern bathrooms and very comfy beds. A good night's sleep on the second night, but the first night we had noisy neighbours as the walls are a bit thin, but this is forgivable given the age of the building. The garden is delightful and we were woken both mornings by glorious bird song. The ducks swimming in the brook which runs through the village was a special treat on our departure. The resident cat, Neptune is a perfect addition to this amazing hotel. We will most certainly be back.

Spacious room size and layout. Modern bathroom facilities and design. Liked the Salmon and egg breakfast and Homemade Granola. Staff and owner very welcoming. Rural setting. Gardens and patio. Traditional country house feel. Relaxing lounge bar (country pub style). Very nice sea bass meal.

All Minor issues: Less keen on the full English. Would have been nice to get a beer after 10pm on Saturday night. No aircon during heatwave but we knew that.

Rooms were very spacious and so clean. Bathroom was spotless. Rainfall shower was wonderful.

I was asked when I checked in if I would be having breakfast during my stay and if so it would be £18.50. I declined and said I would just order eggs. I was told there was no menu. Only the full breakfast. I of course could order just eggs but would be charged for the full breakfast. I didn’t want to pay £18.50 just for eggs.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The garden room was clean and comfortable with its own patio set. The food was delicious, the best sea bass I have ever been served. I loved the quirky decor. There was something interesting wherever you looked.e.g. central lights made of wine glasses, and one made of decanters. Great idea! Loved everything about this hotel.

Delightful family run hotel in beautiful Dorset countryside, just a couple of minutes from Sherborne. Room was spacious with a comfortable bed, lovely sofa and views out to the garden. Bathroom was large with a bath and powerful overhead shower. We had dinner in the evening in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious! Staff were attentive and very helpful. Full breakfast with loads of choice in the morning.

A perfect and peaceful retreat with very comfortable rooms (and good tea/coffee provision), an excellent bar, garden and restaurant. 'In the middle of nowhere', but in the best possible way and just a few minutes' drive from Sherborne. Our visit overlapped with the silent film event in the church 'next door', which was a memorable and very lovely experience.

The owners clearly aim to provide and maintain the highest standards in all areas - from cleanliness to service levels, and from environmental concerns to high quality food and accommodation. We were very impressed indeed, and we have stayed in hundreds of hotels in our lifetime. We should also mention how friendly, helpful and approachable the owners were and this carried through to all the staff we encountered. We felt very at home here.

To be honest there was nothing we didn't like. Everything was handled very professionally and we were made to feel extremely welcome right from the outset. Nothing was too much trouble.

The food was amazing. During my stay I sampled the fantastic cooked breakfasts, one dinner and an afternoon tea, which was for my team. The variety was extensive and all presented beautifully.

The one minor thing being that work was being carried out and my room was directly above it. If I had been there for leisure, I might not have been too happy about the noise and the early start in the mornings.

It was a little too out of the way for us .No other pubs to eat out at unless driving. We stayed 2 nights and probably would have been better with one. Apart from that a lovely small hotel
