The overall building is lovely and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. It is clean and well kept. It's great to have a full bar/pub downstairs, with outside tables too. The DJ helped to make it enjoyable and lively, and the food options were also good. Breakfast was nice.

There was nothing I didn't like, but a couple of suggestions would be: include a hair-dryer in the room. Most hotels have this as standard now and this would have been a problem if we were staying longer than one night. There is also no shower gel which most hotels supply nowadays. I would also say that if people are light sleepers or sensitive to noise, being an old building, the floors are very creaky and you can hear the people above you loudly, the walls seem quite thin too as you can constantly hear doors slamming from other rooms, and even people above you snoring! If you're a light-sleeper, bring earplugs! This didn't bother us but I can see how it could with some people.

The room is clean and nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful (He helped arrange us to have a room on the ground floor because we were carrying 3 big luggages at the time 😅). All 3 staff who managed us from luggage storage, check-in and luggage collection from storage were very considerate and very helpful. We are satisfied with all the facilities in the room. The hotel is a bit far from the train station which requires you to take a bus to get there but the bus stop is opposite the hotel and there are 2 bus stops close to the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Nothing in particular. Just maybe can put bell at the check in counter to alert staff that there are guest at the counter instead of put the notes that asked guest to looking for staff at the bar only.

Perfect place to stay for the Birmingham Christmas market. We booked in for two nights and caught the train to Birmingham New street on the Saturday morning. The train station is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel and the trains are very frequent - every 15 mins. The room was warm and comfortable. The TV had Freeview and Netflix - all the usual things. The shower was great - plenty of hot water. We had a lovely breakfast on both days and an excellent main meal on the Saturday night. The staff are very friendly - absolutely rushed off their feet but it still felt like nothing was too much trouble. Particularly appreciated the staff member behind the bar on Saturday night (long hair and a beard, looks like Sam Ryder) who helped me choose the right ale for my husband and even check the label in his top so I can get something similar for my son's Christmas!

They need one or two more members of staff on to help in the restaurant area, especially at breakfast. The staff who were there were literally running at times, trying to keep on top of things. That said, they did go the extra mile to make sure no-one was kept waiting too long.

*Good location for getting to Birmingham University Athletics Track. *Comfortable spacious rooms. *friendly, helpful staff. * Nearby park for walking the dog. *Toiletries. *Big bath towels. *Changed room with no fuss because TV wasn't working.

*Food was only just warm at breakfast & not hot despite being in a steaming Bain Marie. *No towel rail for hand towels. *No toilet roll holder. *TV wasn't working in our first room. *Staff gave another customer our room key after we'd changed rooms because they'd firgotten to update the system. Good job we weren't in a compromising position when they walked in on us & visa versa.

The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. Breakfast was good. The location was ideal for us to get to Edgbaston Stadium. We will most likely stay again next year when we go to the cricket.

I personally found the bed a bit uncomfortable and the room was quite hot but it had been a warm day so we had to keep the window open all night, which meant there was a bit of noise from outside. A fan in the room may have helped. There are also no curtains in the room, just a blind so you still get some light coming in. We also had to keep the blind up slightly for air to get in through the window. It would have been nice to have filter coffee at breakfast rather than sachets of instant coffee. The mugs are quite big so to make a decent coffee, you need to use a few sachets.

We’ve stayed here many times for appointments in QEHB hospital. Free parking, basic but clean and tidy rooms, cracking bar and restaurant attached. Lovely meals and very good priced drinks. Morrisons opposite too, is very handy for milk for the tea provided, don’t like the sachet stuff. Have never tried the breakfast as always fasting for a procedure. Dinner has always been great.

Could have done with another staff member. They were run off their feet.

Nice en suite room with tea and coffee making facilities and TV. Good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely food, big spacious bar/restaurant. Could get back in easily after a late night out. Easy check in and out. Nice comfy bed ideal for me to crash out in.

The toilet roll holders are placed in an awkward position meaning you have to bend arm back. I put a roll on the sink in front. Not enough milks for coffee, I did ask for extra but don't think the cleaning lady understood me. Not a massive deal tho. Could be a little noisy but to be expected.

The 3 rooms were of an excellent standard... Exceptional in cleanliness, comfort and facilities. The staff throughout the hotel were highly professional but friendly, very helpful and accommodating. We had an evening meal for 4 people,. Due to being the day before change of menu some items understandably were unavailable. The portions were very generous, well cooked with the steak being beautifully cooked. Times for breakfast were good as were other meal times... Very accommodatingWe also had breakfast which again had a good selection of hot and cold food.

All was good. Perhaps as we didn't arrive for breakfast until 9, there was no glasses with the fresh juice. Milk for the cereal appeared to be on the bar with the hot drinks. Would've been helpful if milk put with the cereals. Choice of cereals was rice crispues or cornflakes - perhaps weetabix could've been added. Appreciate the need to be careful with allergies like nuts. As previously stated we didn't have breakfast until 9. Carpets in corridors a bit worn looking... Rooms fabumous

Nice clean room. Lovely bar area and beer garden. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and generally nice to talk to. We had breakfast and a Sunday roast there. The roast was excellent and the breakfast was ok, I recommend they get some better quality tea and coffee but apart from that it hit the spot.

The only thing I’d say is that my room often smelt of cigarettes as my window opened onto a courtyard where people smoked. The room was quite warm so I had to open the window but then the room smelt of cigarettes at points which wasn’t great.

A friendly and unpretentious inn. Ideal stopover when going to the cricket at Edgbaston. Regular 10 minute bus journey to the ground from right outside and queue free return journey too. Morrisons supermarket right opposite. Functional but decent sized, clean comfortable room and ensuite bathroom. Breakfast served 7 - 11 and evening meals served until 8.45pm. Good range of local craft beers at sensible prices. Large on site car park.
