Perfect location. Old building with modern bath room is a big plus.
Their parking lot is quite far (but acceptable). This only complain would be I paid for valet parking but in the end I parked by myself because the reception was too busy dealing with check-in and the restaurant stuff in the same time so they don't have time to park for me and asked me to park by myself. I think they are very short-staffed. No lift so I also pull my luggages from ground floor to second floor. If you're traveling with lots of luggage you should be aware of that

Central to everything. Near great restaurants and bakeries. Very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed including fans, coffee/tea, a small fridge, a hairdryer, and room to spread out. There was a full bedroom, living area with a couch, another bed, and dining area. The kitchen had a an eating area and plenty of space. We partook of breakfast at the hotel which was affordable and delicious! Overall excellent!
We stayed in the annex 2 which is about a block from the main hotel (which is beautiful). If you cannot do stairs, this may not be for you. We hauled luggage up two flights which we did not mind.

Hotel Markusturm (or Hotel Romantik) is a classic Bavarian Inn located in the heart of downtown Rothenburg. The main hotel is quaint, comfortable and historically well preserved with a small but tasteful lobby, two lovely little dining rooms for breakfast and a small courtyard for guests. Though, at first, we were a little disappointed that we were assigned to an annex of the main hotel (which was more modern inside), we soon realized this separate little townhome suited our needs quite well and ended up being better for us in the long run. It had a beautiful view from the private balcony, comfortable beds and a coffee maker and fridge. Nice bathroom too… What we didn’t expect was that 2 of our children and one adult (yours truly) would come down sick. However, this only served to bring out the absolute best in the hotel staff it seemed! When they found out we were in need, Stephen at the front desk led the charge by having homemade chicken broth made for us and then sending Hero (no kidding, the big strong bellhop was named “Hero”) to pick us up and take us to a nearby doctor, to the pharmacy and even to the bank! We were so blessed and impressed and tipped them accordingly. Our waitress was also so kind and attentive. Another lady at the front desk helped us schedule a taxi and train for our final day. There’s so much more I could share, but I had to share this which just made it for us… the morning we left, as the taxi took 2 trips and dropped the last of our family and bags at the train station, and we tried to figure out the German kiosk, a terrible sinking feeling came over my wife! She’d been sure to account for every bag but her own! It must’ve still been at the hotel we thought and the train was coming in 15 min! We called Stephen at the front desk who dropped everything and quickly drove to our annex to search the place for my wife’s luggage. Within 10 minutes or less, he had arrived at the station with the bag!
The only thing, like I said, we would have preferred is to have one of the beautiful Bavarian rooms in the main hotel. But, as mentioned, the annex really was probably better for our family of 7 and the privacy we ended up needing. Oh, and no AC but that’s par for the course in Europe.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel and was impressed by its many original features, which gave it a lot of character. The room was exceptionally large, very comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after a day out. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Parking was easy and convenient, a big plus given the hotel's great central location—just a short walk from numerous restaurants and shops. Overall, a lovely place to stay with plenty of charm and a fantastic location.
The only downside was the breakfast, which was quite limited with not much variety. However, given all the other positives, this was a minor issue.

There’s so much to love about this hotel. First and foremost, the hostess, Lilo. She’s personable, full of good humor, and helpful. We believe that she is one of the owners of the hotel, and her manner made us feel more like her personal guests than just customers. Each room has been designed differently. Lilo offered us three available options to inspect and from which to choose. All the rooms that we saw were spacious, completely current. Ours was spacious, with a comfortable sofa, and a good-sized shower. Breakfast is not a buffet, but table service with a full range of options. We chose to have dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening; while the menu is not extensive and focuses on traditional fare, all that we selected was delicious. This hotel is a keeper!

The beautiful hotel is in an a central location on Rothenburg o.d. Tauber and has interesting history! The owner told me it had been a dowery gift to his great grandmother and that his grandparent, his father, and he himself had all grown up in the hotel. The staff at the hotel were all incredible. We had some travel delays and the reception was considerate and kind and willing to accommodate our late arrival. The front desk was always so friendly. Both of the owners (husband and wife) were friendly and attentive! The breakfast was large and delicious with yogurts, waffles, fresh eggs, and a variety of cheeses, breads, and salamis. We really enjoyed our stay!
We have a daughter who uses a wheelchair. We managed to make it work as she is still young enough to be lifted when needed, but it would be a difficult (and maybe even impossible) hotel for people who are unable to do stairs. There is no elevator and there are quite a few stairs and long hallways to walk. It is an old hotel and so its does not have the modern accessibility that other newer hotels would have.

We loved everything! The hotel is just steps from the main square. It is an old building and is filled with interesting antiques on display in the hallways and bedrooms. Our Junior Suite was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The Gerber Family runs this hotel and is always at hand with friendly help, tips and conversation. The hotel has a parking garage nearby where we could store and charge our e-bikes.

The location was perfect to seeing all the sights. We enjoyed popping out and walking around for an hour and being close enough to run back and drop off or pick up items. The size of our room was very nice and one of the best thought out layouts for unpacking 2 suitcases. I also liked the fact the toilet room was separate from the shower. We thought the street noise would be a problem but it was not at all! The owner also gave us great recommendations for dining since their restaurant was on holiday the end of August.
Breakfast wasn't to our preference. Rolls and a meat and cheese tray are brought to every table with some salmon. We would have preferred to pick out our own food over what is automatically given. On the other hand the breakfast room was lovely and service was good. It was too bad the dining room was on closed but I understand everyone needs a vacation.

Central location. Valet parking available. Room was large with windows and beautiful in a rustic way and with modern facilities. The building itself is old and has the vibe that goes well with the medieval theme of the town. The owner is on site. And the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Nothing to dislike. Rothenburg is a 10am to 6 pm town. Stores and businesses close and only rest and pubs remain open. Nothing much to do in the evenings, except the watchman tour and walking around.

Beautiful old building and a spacious well-renovated room. Spot-on in the old town of Rothenburg, everything you’d want to see within walking distance. Every individual staff member did their best to make us feel at home, the generous breakfast was the proverbial icing on the cake of our one-night stay. Valet parking for a very modest fee, which sounds like a luxury, but is almost a must-have given the medieval infrastructure.
Our room faced one of the old town’s main roads. Thus the inevitable noises, but nothing beyond what I’d call acceptable. Rooms further back in the building are probably super quiet. 😉
