Well lighted room, comfortable beds, lots of ways to hook up our phones and my hearing aids to recharge their batteries, and plug on my CPAP machine. Also conveniently located for bisiting Mesa Verde Park.One. Great breakfast offerings.

One light bulb over the sink was missing. The toilet seat was loose, but I tightened it myself to avoid an accident. And when we returned for our second of a three night stay, housekeeping hadn"t serviced our room. The night manager offered a move to another room, but we were satisfied with receiving a clean set of towels. But it seems that there needs to be more attention given to house keeping service.

Proximity to restaurants, dispensaries, and outdoor activities is perfect! There is a Denny's right next door, a fantastic Mexican restaurant (Tequila's) about a 10 minute walk and the Hotel's own restaurant Destination Grill where you can get 10% off. Mesa Verde NP fee station is a 12 minute drive from the hotel and you could spend multiple days there, it's huge and holds so much history of the Ancestral Pueblo People. Dispensaries were important to us. Livwell and Durango Organics were our favorites and are only a 10 minute drive down main street. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were very clean.

We tried breakfast our first morning to save some money since it was included. My partner ended up staying in the bathroom the entire rest of the day. The only difference in the food we both tried was he ate the cheddar omelet. They do have a cool pancake machine which kids would definitely enjoy but other than that it's a typical hotel continental breakfast. I recommend the Denny's next door, it was actually pretty decent.

The Holiday Inn Express Mesa Verde-Cortez creates a wonderful cozy and nostalgic atmosphere despite lacking some modern amenities and upgrades. My room had a balcony-style door with beautiful views of a birch tree and the mountains. The Southwestern decor and Atzek theme were so pleasant and inviting. I loved riding the glass elevator and taking in the mountain views. My room was meticulously clean without a speck of dust or dirt in sight. The bed was very comfortable for a good night's sleep. The location is extremely convenient with restaurants, fast food, auto services, and an urgent care all within walking distance. It's also a short drive to the incredible Mesa Verde National Park.

My only critique is that breakfast could use more hot options like hash browns or bacon instead of just eggs and sausages. However, the charming ambiance and proximity to amenities and attractions more than make up for it. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for its coziness, cleanliness, location, and beautiful views! It was a wonderful place to call home during my time exploring the area.

breakfast met expectations. location is excellent for travel to mesa verde national park. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE - we left a walking pole in the room when leaving, and housekeeping staff ran it down to us as we were about to drive off. WE WILL NOT FORGET THAT COURTESY !

The decor is dated.

Absolutely the best place to stay!! Couldn’t believe the value you get here! Incredibly spacious suite with video games for the kids, comfy beds, blackout curtains, high quality toiletries, Keurig coffee, adequate breakfast, etc. Will definitely stay here again next time we’re out this way! Front desk staff is impressively helpful and accommodating. Loved the Native American jewelry for sale in the lobby. Nice touch!

Twin mattresses on bunks so thick and comfy that one was at the level of the railing. We improvised with hangers to keep my son from falling off.

I would definitely stay here again. This will be my go-to hotel for Cortez. The hotel was nice, location of shopping and restaurants was good. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was very good. The hotel was in good shape and had clean and nice decor. The pool and jacuzzi were functioning, I saw many happy people in there. The shower pressure and water temperature were phenomenal! I mean the kind of spray that makes you soo relaxed. This was my first stay at a Holiday Inn and they had DOVE products! I don't know if they all do but man those were NICE! Overall I really enjoyed the stay. The didn't likes were small, but I did include them for transparency. Front desk was friendly and fun.

The room did have an odor to it, not truly bad, just that odor you get from hotels where your room is above the pool, as was our room. There were several places on the floor of our room that had sinkholes - those places where it feels like the floorboards are slightly broken. I agree with other posters: the Front of the Hotel could use a spotlight or something because it looks more like it is a bank front. Parking was also a little confusing, we parked in the big lot next to the hotel, but didn't really know if it was their lot, a joint lot, or if we had parked in the next business's lot without permission. Nothing happened so I guess were were good, there is quite a climb from that parking lot to the hotel entrance. FYI

The location and staff

You need to seriously upgrade this property. Everything is falling apart. Paint on the carpets and baseboards. Electrical outlets not functioning etc. it says you have been under construction for a year. But yet nothing happens

Breakfast was very good, with lots of options. The room felt clean and so did the bathroom. We wanted a place to land after a long day at Mesa Verde. Cortez was close enough even for Denver-bound people like us. Don't think they can always provide this, but both the sunset and the sunrise were spectacular.

There was an eye-watering concentration of chlorine (from the swimming pool, I think) in the ground-floor men's bathroom. I didn't use the pool. I don't know if it was more or less detectable in the water.

Comfortable room, relatively quiet, free parking, not far from Mesa Verde National Park, two or three good restaurants within walking distance. Laundry room very convenient. Breakfast included.

The computer system was down when we arrived and they made a photocopy of my credit card, which I didn't like. Although the beds were comfortable, the room just didn't feel clean.
