We were allocated rooms in their newly decorated wing which were spectacular. Everything you could ask for. Lifts to all floors so no carting bags up stairs. Staff were friendly and helpful. If I stayed again I would ask for an ocean front with a terrace in the new wing.

The hotel is currently upgrading the outside of the building and so we looked out onto scaffolding. However will be beautiful once done and they are obviously investing into upgrading the building inside and out. Wasn't really an issue for us.

The Hotel was very impressive from the outside and absolutely lovely on the inside too! We were upgraded to a sea view room on arrival. We had requested a twin room with a walk in shower which we received, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a rubber shower mat for us to use in the cubicle. The bed was really comfortable and the room spacious, even had a small fridge and a safe big enough to take a laptop.

However the bathroom wasn't very spacious and not a lot of room to dry yourself after getting out of the shower! Perhaps a slightly smaller wash basin unit would be better in such a tight space? The room was very warm, I like my bedroom to be cool and unfortunately there wasn't any instructions as to whether we could control this ourselves, infact the beautiful bound information folder in the room was deplete of all information apart from two one page leaflets advertising the hotel and it's spa treatments. Nothing on how to work the TV, the air con, what time/where breakfast is served, or even any info about the surrounding area!

I was welcomed warmly when I checked in and given a gorgeous room. The room was very spacious, clean and luxurious! I had a nice view of the marina down below and the bed was very spacious and comfortable. The free breakfast was a lovely gesture.

My only complaint would be the attitude of a member of housekeeping; I had my door opened before check-out and she poked her head in and slammed the door shut. That wasn't an issue but it would have been nice if she knocked. The previous night I was very sick so I stripped the bed out of respect for housekeeping; I opened the door and I tried explaining to the same woman as stated above and she looked at me and then shut the door of the room. I felt this was very rude.

Our entry level room was good, small but that is to be expected in the UK. There were coffee and tea facilities, as well as soap, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturiser - the latter two you don't normally see in these hotels. The location is great and the restaurant and bar are pretty nice too.

The noise from the lorries driving down the highway to the port of Dover all throughout the night is intense. Bring earplugs. The spa area is not great. The photos are overpromising. The gym is amazing but the whole space is commercial so not exclusive to hotel guests. Make sure you take a padlock with you for the locker room.

We only stayed the night, without breakfast. The rooms were adequate. The sea view room was really nice. Very good for what we paid. Staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and very accommodating. Free parking was available at a short distance from the hotel. There is a Spa and swimming pool available, which I may try out on my next stay.

The Sea view room was initially my room, but we ended up swapping because the room my son and his partner were allocated was very cramped for two people. I struggled with the size of the shower since I have mobility issues. (I did not disclose this at the time; I only asked for a walk-in shower.) This is one of the older grand hotels and definitely needs some work done, but for the price, I don't have any complaints.

Clean, spaceous room, with lovely bathroom. Everything as you would expect. There was a small fridge, and water kettle, a small ironing board and hairdryer. If you want to catch a ferry, the reception desk organises a taxi. It makes sense to book a taxi, although the ferries are just a few minutes away; there is no proper footpath to walk. The harbour for sailing ships is just a few yards away from the hotel and easily accessible, this is also where the new sailing route to Boulogne-sur-mer departs (during summer).

My room had a sea view, but the window only opened a tiny bit; probably to keep the seagulls out. Still, it would have been worthwhile to clean the windows, mine was not done for years. This spoilt the experience somewhat. The hotel should not simply call taxis, but get engaged with the council to have a pavement done so that you can walk to the ferries, in my view.

On arrival staff helped us to move to another room nearer the lift, due to my mobility problem. The sea view was appreciated. Overall the quality and presentation of food in the restaurant was very good. The car park was close to the rear entrance and this was a real benefit.

This hotel seriously needs at least another lift. The lift near Reception was supposed to hold a maximum of 8 people. But they would have to be matchstick men! Two people with suitcases filled the lift, and with residents on 4 floors, often with luggage we frequently had to wait several minutes to get in this lift when going to dinner etc. There was apparently one othe lift at the far end of the building, but few people used it. While we were there the hotel was full of people staying before joining cruise ships, and it was packed!

Brilliant location. We had a balcony room and the views were stunning but the room was very small. Helpful staff on reception and the bar staff were friendly. Great selection at breakfast

One of our rooms was very small, for a "Superior". You struggle to walk past the bottom of the bed and miss either banging your head against the tv or your leg against the corner of the dressing table. The second room was much larger but the costs was the same?? Had an evening meal in Marco Pierre White's restaurant. Enjoyed our food but had a 35 minute wait for dessert. After a 20 minute wait we were asked if we were waiting for our bill!! They still took another 15 minutes to bring out our desserts. The restaurant was only half full so it wasn't because they were busy.

Clean. Central. Beautiful old building. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely piano being played in the lobby. Rooms clean and functional. We arrived late and left early for the ferry so didn’t get to use the facilities as we’d have liked. Breakfast was superb!! Paid extra for the family and it was well worth it. The affiliated restaurant was excellent overall and set us up for the day.

The corridors and stairs are a little tired and dated and in need of some investment. Likewise the lift was very small and needed some improvement. Phone in room didn’t work and I couldn’t call reception at 1030 to book breakfast. Tired ringing the main desk on my phone and no one answered which was slightly annoying. Wasn’t a big problem - as I was able to book at the desk in the morning..
