Unfortunately, the chef had just left so there was no evening meal available, not a problem in Castleton. Breakfasts were good though we only had continental. Good parking in their own space opposite. Staff were very helpful and the general ambience was "old country inn". We arrived after the school;s had gone back so Castleton was very quiet and restful.
We booked a "small bedroom", having two weeks' luggage for a two night stay, this was not a good idea! The room was fully equipped with all the conveniences one could want and the bed very comfortable. There were steep narrow stairs to the upstairs rooms which could be a problem for some guests.

I don't know how else to describe it other than the vibes. The cosy vibes of a small, local pub, where the staff knows pretty much everybody and they call everybody 'lovey' or 'my lovely', is really hard to beat. Having that to come back to after a day's hike, is just perfect. The room was small but had everything I need it, I never thought I'd sleep in a single bed again since my uni years but it was absolutely fine and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, exactly what you need before going up Cave Dale, they let me leave my stuff while I was out and about. This stay was all about the pub for me, I had to wait a couple of hours for my train and just chilling there, with a cup of tea and my book... I left feeling so relaxed, really enjoyed it. Oh, and if you're a dog person, this is definitely the place for you!
Nothing that can't be fixed with an eye musk of some ear plugs.

We liked everything. A couple on our mid 70s we could not have been better looked after. We were allowed to use the private car park mid morning to enable us to explore the surrounding area long before we checked in. Our room was spotless and cosy. We ate our evening meal at the Inn and it was excellent and very reasonably priced. The choice of ales was brilliant and the host on the evening was friendly and helpful. A great night sleep was enjoyed before we sat down to a sumptuous breakfast. Service was above and beyond. On leaving we were again able to use the car park well into the afternoon as we again explored in and around the wonderful village of Castleton. We will come again without a moments hesitation.
We didn't like leaving.!

Me and my friend stopped for 2nights and had a very warm welcome. The staff were friendly and we had an easy check in. The staff were amazing, unfortunately I didn't catch there names but there was a lady with short cropped hair amazing, friendly, helpful and funny. There was a gent who worked behind the bar in the evening, he was great, very friendly and polite. And lady who served us breakfast in the morning was again friendly, efficient and polite, no question was a problem. Great location, great food and a really nice atmosphere.
We had a twin room. Everything was great however it was really hot. Although we had a window, we didn't get much of a draft as there is a house next door. So close that I could here there alarm going off. That would be my only gripe. But everything else in the room was great.

Such a warm welcome from the team. During our stay (one night) every contact with a member of staff was wonderful. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was fantastic. Really set us up for a day of adventures and loved that breakfast was included in the price of the room. Another included perk was the parking opposite, really handy! The room was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the character of the building and the location in the town was a perfect base for exploring.
The only things I can think of are tiny and we're outweighed greatly by the good mentioned above; the shower cubicle and bathroom were looking a bit tired (room 9), and the room had a window that opened onto another building around a foot away so not much airflow and no view. This was mainly only an issue because it was 34 degrees and everywhere was unbearably hot, which was obviously rare circumstances for an 17th/18th century building and can't fault the place at all. The restaurant and pub area was able to be kept cool which was so nice.

The Inn is in the heart of Castleton, providing access to lots of the walking trails, even without a car. The room was sufficient for my needs, although the bathroom was really small and it was a squeeze. Well stocked with coffee and tea and some biscuits. The inn runs a pub downstairs that serves drinks and a good selection of food. Nice seating place outside the inn, if you wanted to enjoy the fresh air and hill views while having your meal. Breakfast was excellent, unlimited coffee, tea, cereal, toast and a selection of hot, cooked breakfast made to order. Close to Peveril Castle and Peak Cavern. Winnat's pass and the other caverns also within short walk
Breakfast starts a bit late at 8.30, so not so ideal for those who wanted to start their adventures early. There is also an alarm until 7am, so not able to leave earlier for a wander around too.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, with tea/coffee making facilities and a nice shower. The breakfast was really good and the food in general served in the pub was fresh and lovely. The location was very good - could easily walk to Winnat's pass and Mam Tor. Although the room was directly above the restaurant, noise was minimal - you could only really hear when people laughed or the odd dog barking, but I didn't notice much noise at all past about 10pm.
The room was a bit chilly when I first arrived, but I just turned the radiator up and it warmed up in no time.

Hotel in excellent location both locally and wider area, staff very friendly and helpful, excellent parking, plenty hot water, comfy bed, plenty towels, nicely furnished.
Room opened directly onto pavement ( small outdoor area ) noisy traffic and early morning deliveries. Appeared to be a reflective mirror window but had to keep curtains closed making room dark. Cooked breakfast excellent, plenty choice but continental very limited, nice fruit but no pastries, cheese etc, we bought from the local bakery, Peveril, and took them in, Yummy.

The hotel is in a great location for people looking to explore the surrounding area. Parking opposite the hotel is also really convenient, though I could imagine it maybe getting full during busy season. The staff were lovely, breakfast was nice and the room was also great. Would be happy to stay here again if I revisit.
The room i booked was very close to the main route through town so quite a bit of foot and road traffic could be heard. The hotel do kindly provide earplugs to help deafen the noise at night though.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The room was clean and provided us with everything we needed. the weather was very cold but the room was really warm and comfortable. the staff were friendly and very efficient. The breakfast was the best we have had in Castleton.
There are no negative things to say about our stay. The hotel is in keeping with the general expectations of the Castleton environment . We stayed for my partners birthday and enjoyed our stay. The room was warm and clean and the public bar downstairs was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional, The staff were very good. We look forward to staying again in the future.
