Exceptional Service: The Spectator Hotel provided five-star service from start to finish, making our engagement weekend in early June truly special. We felt incredibly fortunate to have stayed there. Complimentary Amenities: Unlike many hotels that charge for extras, The Spectator offered free drinks and snacks in the room, which was a delightful surprise. Outstanding Butler Team: The dedicated butlers elevated our stay with personalized, complimentary services. We were assisted by: Michelle: Warm-hearted and shared local tips that helped us save money. Jim: Playfully teased us about our English roots but provided fantastic recommendations. David: Kind, thorough, and always greeted us with a warm smile. Darryl: Incredibly efficient, ensuring perfect morning breakfast deliveries. Kyle (name not confirmed): Remarkably knowledgeable, my wife’s favorite for his wealth of local insights. Charming Bar Area: The downstairs bar was perfect for relaxing while waiting for my spouse, enjoying breakfast, savoring a hot drink, or having pre-dinner cocktails. The bar staff were proactive, friendly, and made every interaction a pleasure. Memorable Experience: The impeccable service, thoughtful amenities, and charming atmosphere made our engagement weekend unforgettable. We highly recommend The Spectator to anyone visiting Charleston.
Payment Process Issue: As someone from Europe accustomed to paying for stays outright with a debit card, I was disappointed by the payment hold placed on my card in addition to the full payment made on the first day. This effectively doubled the charge temporarily, which felt unnecessary and unsettling, as it meant having double the room’s cost looming over us despite paying upfront. A smaller deposit, such as the cost of one night’s stay, would have been sufficient. While the hold was resolved promptly upon checkout, it was an inconvenience during our stay.

We loved absolutely everything- beautiful room, fantastic amenities and location and superb staff and service. Delicious cocktail on arrival, butler service to accommodate our every wish, Mudslide shot in a chocolate cup for turndown, stocked minibar of drinks and food complimentary (not like most minibars that charge a fortune!) I wish all hotels were like this one! Didn’t have to ask for anything from our butler,Jimmy,as he thought of everything!
There was not anything about which to complain. We have stayed in many very lovely expensive hotels and thought this one rivaled all in every aspect other than being a very reasonable $350 per night!

The service and butlers are amazing. The hotel truly is there to make u happy and helpful. The interior of the hotel is beautifully done. Our room spacious. They give complementary breakfast in your room, a delicious cocktail to welcome you, every night they brought us a small artisan shot to relax and they had a bottle chilled for us (our anniversary) They truly spoil you which is awesome !
Really nothing you are walking distance to anything

I enjoyed the experience at the spectator hotel. i went with my husband and kids and the staff noticed my kids and gave them a coloring book and colored pencils. We also had a small bag left on our door by our butler Jerry with the same thing and a hand written note that said “for the little ones”. Our butler also wrote down restaurant recommendations after telling him the type of food we enjoyed. I could keep going, but this hotel was a nice different experience!

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The location was fantastic. Decor and design awesome. All staff (from cleaning to butler to valet driver) were exceptional. Rooms and mini fridge offerings were such a welcomed treat. Turn down service and evening hotel ambiance was swoon worthy. This was the perfect upleveled home away from home experience in such a vibrant city. We can't wait to return and share our recommendation of this hotel with our traveling friends and family. Bravo Spectator!!
Nothing! Exceeded my expectation in all regards!

Very classy hotel – very comfortable beds, clean rooms, fantastic service with a butler bringing your breakfast every morning! We truly loved our stay, and the staff were the best!
I think the breakfasts could’ve been a bit fresher, and the food could be hotter when served, but it was really special having the breakfast in the room. It would be nice if they varied the menu a bit as well.

After staying at a competitor hotel a few years ago, I decided to give The Spectator a try after hearing my friends' rave reviews. I am so happy with this choice. The service is next-level with the friendly butlers and staff, and goodie basket of local snacks in the room, and excellent cleaning service. I also loved the tight security at night.

Amazing experience. From the moment we checked in, the service and hospitality was top notch. We were introduced to our butler, Will, who made us welcome drinks, and escorted our bags to our room. The hotel goes above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. We loved the complimentary room service breakfast! I would highly recommend The Spectator.
Nothing! The hotel was exceptional.

I have made a suggestion which I have listed below. Other than that one suggestion, our visit was very special and perfect in every way. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we first arrived. thank you. I have already recommended your hotel to a family member who visits Charleston regularly.
There were two pillows on the bed both were the same loft. I wish one of the pillows was a little less lofty. .
