The hotel was very modern with great facilities and perfectly clean. The onsen view was incredible. The breakfast was lovely although finished too early @ 9.00am so we skipped it on the last morning. There’s plenty of eateries within walking distance. Be prepared to take your shoes off within seconds of arrival. The beach is a one minute walk behind the hotel and there’s a Great walk along the coast.

The small hard pillows, the early checkout 10am instead of 11am and the 9am breakfast finish.

Plenty of parking, great view from the room, and nice sized room. There’s also a wonderful view from the restaurant during breakfast. There is also a public Onsen in the hotel. Unfortunately, we couldn’t use it because we got into the hotel quite late. Service staff were really friendly.

Checkout was quite early at 10am. Also, they do not use Yamato luggage service where you can send your luggage to your next destination in Japan. Also, I was surprised to have to pay an Onsen fee when checking in (although it wasn’t too expensive).

Super clean hotel. They even clean the wheels of all of our luggages and make us take off our shoes before we get inside the hotel. Super clean room and still new to me. Nice onsen with the seaview (too bad it was raining so we could not enjoyed the view). Great breakfast and all the staffs at the restaurant were so nice, kind, and friendly.

The breakfast restaurant close too early (9 am) we got there almost 9:00 so it was quite a rush meal. The check-out staffs were not as friendly as staffs at the restaurant but not that bad. One more thing if they could have some shading area for seaview onsen, it would be so great because the rain could get into the seaview onsen pool.

The outdoor sea view facing public bath is impressive and the room is specious and clean with a big balcony that’s facing the sea. Sufficient parking space. Staff are nice and courteous

Overall I am happy with the stay. Hotel might consider giving more information and instruction to the residents on the courtesy of using public bath since I have seen how chaotic and messy some users could cause in the public bath area.

I like everything about the hotel. The hotel itself looks quite new. (Interestingly everyone is not allowed to wear shoes in the hotel, staff will also help to clean the wheels of your suitcases at the entrance of hotel. Probably this is the reason why the hotel is in such a great condition.) The room is clean and big, every room has a fantastic view. The onsen on the top floor has a great view, really love the outdoor one. Hotel breakfast is Japanese buffet style, quite a lot of options even the area for food is not big. (And it has ice cream and puffs for breakfast!!!)

Location-wise, it is not close to train station. But it doesn’t really matter if you drive.

A very clean and modern hotel with ample free parking. The receptionists were business like, efficient and cool but I didn't feel a friendly warmth.  There are amenities in the lobby with disposable slippers, socks, toiletries and guests umbrellas were brought out as it started to rain.  There's an open air onsen on the top floor with an infinity pool looking out to the sea.  The included breakfast was very good, good variety of food and all of a high quality, the servery being constantly cleaned and topped up.

We booked full board in a standard twin room, sea view. The breakfasts and dinners were both exceptional. Superb public bath on the top floor.

The Hotel has a massive foyer, but all guests have to remove their shoes at the entrance. There is only ONE stool to sit on while removing or putting your footwear on. There needs to be a lot more space provided and multiple chairs.

reception's staffs can't speak english at all, they use translate machine to make reply.....the attitude is seem not very helpful and patient, at the night , I need to make a outside call to another hotel in Japan, but they keep asking me why I need to make a outside.......seem it is not cool to ask it......seems..they didn't know it is very expensive to make a international call from my mobile.....

Dinner is better than enough, main dishes with buffet, excellent! This is the second time I stayed in Rex Hotel beppu. I came back because of good experience. Every single room with balcony and seaview. Staffs are great and helpful.

Overall there is nothing I do not like. The only disappointed was I could not reserve the main dish with beef. And I do not eat fish. 😊

quite amazed! staff is ready to greet with arrival guest list outside hotel. shoes off while in hotel which makes hotel very clean and comforting. amazing seaview and onsen. ladies onsen dressing room comes with Sekkisei amenities u cannot miss the sunrise view - totally speechless breakfast is mainly Japanese style with some Western choices. u can make your own Salmon roe rice! (i made two for myself, omg i want one now)

the only 2 downsides i can think of - (1) there is only a small coffee table but without a proper table which makes it difficult for make up (lighting is a nightmare too, just like many of hotels rooms) ; (2) quite a distance from Beppu station, i think its around 20-25min by walk or 10min by bus
