It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Hillside! The place is super clean and comfortable. Very close to shops and restaurants. Actually I walked a couple of times to the shops. It’s quiet and peaceful. The staff were polite and helpful. Hotels are outdated! Some of us need accommodation that can offer peace, security, privacy and sense of homeliness. This place provides that!

The TV signal was a nightmare at room 4. There’s a full DStv package but unfortunately can’t watch all the channels because of the signal…I think the aircon is too close to the TV and its electro-magnetic outputs interfere with the TV. I could see that when I had the aircon, the TV would start to lose picture and signal and it’d work well when it’s off..unfortunately you can’t have aircon off for long in Umhlanga. Probably the establishment could relocate the aircon to the corner above the wardrobe.

It is difficult to choose just one thing we liked about the property, as everything was exceptional. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The pool was clean and inviting. Overall, we were very impressed with the high level of quality at every turn.

We cannot think of a single thing we disliked about our stay at the property. Everything was of the highest quality, and we felt that we received excellent value for our money. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone

The stay was very comfortable and extremely well catered for, the breakfast was excellent, safe location, and the rooms and general areas dedicated to guests delightfully laid out and upmarket, location is close to all major malls and shops, the beach is a mere walk down the road, will definitely arrange to stay here again on my next visit to Umhlanga,

Would suggest that with the current load shedding and power outages that the owners invest in a back inverter unit to keep the WiFi on when the municipal power is load shedding, otherwise everything else was excellent.

Great place, I like the set up... so convenient

The TV, boring channels, I wish I had brought my laptop so that I can watch some Netflix, or show max But it's not a train smash, the place is really great, good facilities, and if you can consider adding those subscriptions, I think this place will stand out from the rest.

The air-conditioner in the units can not be set below 20°C to avoid icing. In Unit 4 this made it very ineffective in December heat in Umhlanga. Also, the balcony door scrapped the tiles & made a loud scraping sound. Unit 3 for our daughter's all worked well

Ina and her team run an exceptional guesthouse. Visited for a few nights and felt very well supported and comfortable. The value of such high standard accommodation was amazing - other reviews mentioned this but only believed it when I visited. Fresh coffee in the morning, the self-service but good quality breakfast in the in-room kitchenette. Ina herself was kind & hospitable. Even after many years of meeting guests.

We had an excellent stay. All our requests were accommodated. Mini kitchen was fully stocked with fresh fruit, waters & yogurt. The walk to the beach & back was easy to access. We were given a room with a sea view which we loved. Dipping in the slash pool afterwards to cool off was very pleasant.

The sound of monkeys on the roof early in the morning. Having to keep the balcony doors closed at all times. The noisy guests on Sunday evening who didn’t know we were staying there.

The service was excellent from check in to check out I will highly recommend them anyday so thoughtful throughout our stay

The house was kept clean throughout our stay, the location was excellent because we could walk to the beach, the breakfast was amazing.and the beds were very comfortable. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. What you see on the website is what you get.

The Mosquitoes by the pool were bed at night, though the owner supplied us with Mosquitoe repellent.

What a lovely stay at Hillside guesthouse. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, bathroom and terrace were excellent. The kitchenette is fully stocked with basics to start you off with. The location is incredible with a tranquil view of the ocean. Can't wait to come back here again.
