The estate is set in a lovely quiet spot not too far from Franshhoek. Breakfasts are really good. My room was not the best and needs some TLC. The bath spout is loose from the wall and points to the overflow and one needs to lift it a bit to pour water into the bath. The toilet paper holder is broken and I placed the broken part on the floor but it was simply inserted back when housekeeping cleaned the room for the 2nd night... Carpet is a bit dirty and stained, but that could be due to the grapevine directly outside the bedroom door... Luckily I got the room at a semi decent rate, and would have been super disappointed if I had to pay full price, because then I would have canceled..

It was two single beds next to each other- would have preferred a double as we could feel the gap in the middle of the bed. Coffee machine was also not working

The Estate is scenic, has great mountain views and beautiful. It is really beautiful. I also loved the French decor all around the hotel

The room was huge! It had 2 sofas, a large TV, walk-in shower and a separate bath tub! The bed was two singles put together to form an extra large double and you couldn't feel that they were singles. They had tea and coffee available in the room and a small jar of cookies which was nice. The staff were lovely and the estate where the accommodation is based was beautiful. Breakfast was good with a variety of cold and hot options; juices, fruits, cereals, breads, etc. Overall a great place to stay.

The drive from the main road is a bumpy gravel access road. Not a significant issue, but worth mentioning if you are considering renting a car for your holiday.

We had a large room and bathroom on the first floor in the main building and a deck with beautiful mountain views. The breakfast was delicious and could be eaten inside or out on the terrace. The pool area was great for sitting out in the sun or under the trees or umbrella for shade. The accommodation is a little out of town but we had no difficulty in accessing an Uber at a reasonable rate

It is v close to Franschhoek town , and in a quiet beautiful setting . Bed was large & comfortable . Big room , and large bathroom Nice breakfast

We were given a room that was a bit dark , there are others that seem to have a better outlook Room was large but a bit dated , probably refurbished 20 years ago , but it was clean V little help on tourist info roundabout , unlike some other places we stayed at No bar or restaurant

Perfection in every way. Beautifully appointed and sensational property, the staff could not have done more for us. We were welcomed from start to finish by joyful smiles and the owners were gracious towards us, even spending a little time explaining a little history of Val d’Or The amount of space and privacy afforded to all the guests was exceptional. We stayed in the Champagne Suite which was perfectly furnished and extremely well situated with a lovely shaded area for those evening wines. The pool area for us worked perfectly. The location of Val d’Or is a short drive to Franschhoek and also Stellenbosch and Paarl which made a nice trip.

Zero to dislike.

The room was lovely and very spacious, Unfortunately due to excessive rain we had a flood in our bathroom and had to move rooms, we were moved to a two bedroom villa with private pool which was a bit of a bonus! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Unfortunately due to flooding in the area the wine tram was cancelled which was our main reason for visiting Franschhoek but this was obviously beyond the control of the hotel

The hotel is not within walking distance of any restaurants/shops so a car is a must!

Excellent breakfast and friendly service! The room was very comfortable with excellent mattress, pillows and duvet. The temperature in the room was nice and cool on the hot days that we were there. The pools are sparkling clean. The views from this estate are breathtaking.

The road leading to the estate was bumpy. Thought that the grounds could do with more watering and upkeep.

The room was amazing and very comfortable, the shower as well was lovely. The breakfasts were amazing and delicious!

I do think more attention can be made to cleaning the litter on the outside of the room and the weeds growing in the concrete veranda. It spoils the first impression when you arrive. Don't neglect the outside of rooms.
