When we arrived we warmly welcomed by the staff and offered a drink a very nice touch. Our room was ready and wow it did not disappoint. The bedding and towels were of excellent quality and the fruit was a lovely touch. The breakfast was delicious so many side option. The main menu was based on fresh eggs with different ingredients to go with every day, five star without a doubt. It was nice that the owners were on hand to chat and give pointers of the best places to visit and the best places to eat of an evening. The pool was very clean and the drink and homemade biscuits brought to us when we were at the pool was a lovely touch.

Impeccable accomodation with amazing and knowledgeable hosts Urs and Faith. Faith’s hospitality was next level. The breakfast spread was out of this world and the hot breakfast was absolutely delicious. Great location and exceptionally clean. We have stayed in many places over the years but Candlewood Lodge was the best place we have stayed at. We had dinner at the restaurant on the premises and it was fine dining at its best. The meet and greet with the other guests was a great way of learning about other cultures and countries. Cannot recommend this place enough. If you are in Knysna please do yourself a huge favour and stay here you will not regret it.

Every member of staff was friendly, courteous, and made us feel very welcome. Home from home. The facilities and overall decoration of the guest house was excellent. Matt was a lovely host, spending time with us and providing lots of information of things to do in the area. He even gave us a free upgrade to a wonderful suite, which was very kind of him. The location is within a 5 minute drive or 15/20 minute walk of the waterfront. Visit Freshline Fisheries for a delicious lunch or dinner - you won't regret it. Robberg Nature Reserve in Plettenberg is well worth a visit - 3 different length walks. Knysna Ziplines for a little adventure and fantastic views.

We had a lovely room with a balcony which overlooked the lagoon and Knysna Head, the view was stunning. The hosts were very attentive and informative and even invited us to a small concert with food and drinks included. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and the chef managed to cook my scrambled egg to perfection, which is quite an achievement, we have stayed at many establishments over the course of our holiday, mostly five star, but only Candlewood and on other got the eggs right.

1) The stairs leading up to our room were a bit steep. 2) The hairdryer was in a drawer but attached to a plug behind the drawer so cannot be removed making it very restrictive, the only mirror was on the side of the wardrobe so impossible to dry your hair and look in the mirror, obviously not been designed by a woman!

This is a real gem of a place made all the more charming by the lovely staff ably led by Matthias who is a natural at making people feel welcome and at home. Having tasted the amazing breakfast we decided to have dinner here one night too - the chef is really talented and it felt much more initmate than eating at a restuarant so we're glad we opted not to go into town. The decor is amazing and a lot of thought has gone into make the place stylish and comfortable, I just wish we could have stayed longer. We were given a room with a view over the lagoon and what a view it is. Absoultely stunning and wonderful to sit on the balcony with a coffee overlooking the Kynsna heads.

A wonderfully cozy and well-thought-out guesthouse. Beautiful garden with incredible plant and flower variety. Cute little curious and harmless monkeys who visit sometimes. Wonderful view. Huge, beautiful, varied, delicious breakfast buffet. Even a special egg menu that varied every day. Welcoming and super hospitable staff. Strongly recommend. The pool area really nice. The host made us feel very welcome.

Matthias greeted us warmly and offered us a lovely tea and snack when we arrived. He gave us a tour of the gardens and told us all about each one. He also gave us loads of tips for how to spend our time. The breakfast was spectacular- so fresh and with a variety of local foods of the highest quality plus options for cooked breakfast. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. The location overlooked the lagoon and was stunning!

We received excellent service from Faith and Anna during our two-night stay. The complimentary upgrade to a room with a view was a nice surprise when we checked in and everyone was really helpful with suggestions on restaurant options and things to do in the area. The breakfasts were amazing and the laundry service very efficient.

It was lucky we could remember our Netflix password from New Zealand to be able to utilise the TV otherwise we would not have been able to watch anything.

Candlewood lodge is like a sweet nest tucked away in nature. The staff makes you feel like home at all times. It has a beautiful area for breakfast and an excellent buffet. Special thanks to Matt for being so nice to us and giving us an amazing garden tour. Also thanks to Faith for taking care of us at all times and cooking special vegetarian meals for us on request. We would definitely love to come back again.

Excellent hosts and all the staff were very friendly helping us book fantastic restaurants and guide us to local activities. Provision of beach bag with towels and water was a great touch. Great breakfast. Lovely pool area

We had the room we booked with garden view which was absolutely fine but there are better rooms with excellent views over Knysna so would recommend them even if you pay extra
