I've read a few reviews prior to our stay and was concerned about all the steps I'd have to climb to reach the Guesthouse. But in all honesty it wasn't that bad. I am by no means fit and was huffing and puffing when I reached the top but it was surprisingly enjoyable. Dee, our host, was very welcoming and accommodating. Its a very serene and peaceful environment with gorgeous views. The breakfast was delicious. Quiet time is at 10pm and even though we are not loud people, this did make us feel a bit restricted. The beds were not very comfortable for sleeping. Overall it's a beautiful place with a wonderful host and well worth the visit.

This is a gem. It's older, it has character. The Host DD is a God sent woman of note! This place has a view that will reorient your life view. It's really nice, warm, friendly, authentic, real. It's best described as an antique that is used daily - it has patina and scratches that hark back to the many great experiences the many travelers who have come before and it's welcoming and clean and cozy. We Love it. DD made it more special, she really looked after us, and she and my wife connected. We count her as a friend and this beautiful place as a respite from an otherwise difficult world. It's really beautiful, peaceful, harmonious, it belongs there, nature is happy with it, it belongs. Maybe it's a 9, but it was a 10 experience, so I stick by my score, in it's category and given the Host and the view - 10. Recommended highly.

I liked it. 134 stairs. Yep. But they are not bad and there are resting spots every 10 or so steps, it's completely worth it, don't be afraid. We now know it, we would do it again and again. Now you know and you can make certain you are able to manage. They will assist you with luggage (as will an Uber Driver for R100 or so, maybe R200 if you over-packed. (Don't over-pack.) Also, this isn't modern glass and marble, it's a well worn and Loved place that's perfect with every wrinkle. We LOVE this place. Highly recommend.

The place was very nice, comfortable and I felt at home

The manager didn't welcome us, she didn't say what was available. She only noticed us after she took other ppl on a tour and then greeted us. I didn't know that you guys sell things on the property. I only realized after I saw the book next to the fridge because I wanted a beer and thought that ima go to checkers down the road but then I saw beers in the fridge and saw the book where other ppl bought things ....I then bought 3 castles and saw the menu afterwards. I also didn't like the stairs it's to far up

I enjoyed the vintage look and the freshness of the air. The view from the deck is really beautiful when there is no fog. The braai facilities are also convenient and have nice shower facilities.

The wifi connection is very bad in the room we were using and there was no TV. The amount of steps to the property is one to really take note of as this is the only way and could be a problem for people with lots of luggage.

I extremely felt like an honest guest and I accomplished the 131 steps oh what laugh that was. Thank you for the birthday gift. God bless you and your family. My daughter and I had an awesome stay. a Thank you so much. Dee was an angel 😇 the breakfast was 100%. We were impressed and happy with our room and thank you for making an extra effort for the tv. Great view, lovely big room and balcony. Easy access to airport, and the coast road to Simons town. Dee was an exceptional host and lovely breakfast

The steps up to the property…. We left our suitcase in the car and brought a small rucksack for the 2 nights we stayed. But without the steps… you wouldn’t have the view ! Our bathroom was private but across the hall. Dee was very helpful providing a fan .

delightful location lovely room, comfortable large bed, good hot shower pressure , great breakfast. - thank you ! happy to recommend for younger age group up to 50 yrs

Bedside lamps were not working - should have been checked beforehand, but sorted Pillows and towels not in great shape - pillows too soft and towels too thin Staff weren't up by 7am so waited for them to prepare breakfast but minor issue Would have liked to have met owners we enjoy personal contact with owner establishments , but owners were not there , the manager was acting on their behalf .

I loved the attention to the finer details. The personalised welcome board left in my room. The honest bar area so you don't need to drive to the store at night. The blankets left at the breakfast table to help keep you warm as you enjoy your breakfast. The spacious room.

Just a suggestion to check the plumbing in the shower as the hot water works with opening the cold water tap in the basin. I think there's something wrong with the plumbing.

Breakfast was great, on time. Served by very friendly staff. Good variety of choice between the different breakfasts. Also allowed us to have 2 extra guests for breakfast on last day. Thought the price was R 80 per extra breakfast per person but was informed R 150 per person, but that was ok.

Only have one small remark, the rubbish bin in the self-catering kitchen was left uncleaned for a day and spilled over. The steps were a challenge but manageable.

Nothing although those who are older or struggle with fitness may find the stairs challenging- do not recommend to those with a physical disability as the access to the property can be challenging :)
