Juan-Claude was very accommodating and a pleasure to have as a host. When we arrived back in the evening, he seated us comfortably at the open fire and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks very Much. Made our stay.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing. There was no fruit or yoghurt on the Breakfast table. When we asked about it, the lady wasn't very accommodating. A while later, she put one bowl of yoghurt on our table and said there was now fruit on the Breakfast table. This included whole oranges and apples, and all she did was add bananas. No cut-up fruit.

The staff were super attentive and helpful and everything was very good.

The parking in (the side road of) Capri Road is a nightmare with the neighbour, who employed the security guards who bullies/intimdates the Sonnekus Guests, on where to park in Capri Rd, as parking is very limited in Capri Rd. The Police had to be called to discipline the Capri Security Guards and the Capri Rd owner of 2 x neighbouring properties. I/We (family & friends, for future bookings), hope that this Capri Rd owner will listen/comply wholeheartedly to Sonnekus' multiple requests per Guest, to be nice/friendly/polite/mannered/respectful,helpful, etc and not otherwise.

Beautifully decorated and loved the general spaces, so delightful

You get what you pay for. I fully appreciate that but I was surprised to have the bathtub and toilet essentially in the bedroom :D Definitely a one person room. Also don’t get the use of carpet I. The room when it’s so close to the beach and surely impossible to keep clean after people return front after swimming. Quite a few creepy crawleys in the room too..windows were open to create some ventilation which I get but yes. That’s the experience I had :)

Pretty much ticked all of the boxes for us. The location is perfect for seeing a lesser know part of Cape Town. As locals, there so much we could also see and do. The ocean, restaurants and sites nearby. We stayed over a rainy weekend and we were more than happy to stay indoors. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable, room facilities with added extras were appreciated and the indoor fireplace was the cherry on top. Highly recommended for locals and international guests. We’ll be back for our next staycation!

This is a great place to stay in St James / Kalk Bay and excellent value. The staff were helpful and friendly, and you are close to lovely tidal pools and restaurants in the area

The only drawback is the noise at the sea view rooms, which can't be helped as the beach road is busy and also has a train line - double glazing would make a massive difference, but that said you can choose a mountain view if noise does bother you. The views were lovely and the size of the room was fab.

Room was fine breakfast was good welcome when we arrived was not so good we arrived at 1200 check was 1400 but i have found in hotels if the room is ready they let you check in . The lady in the restaurant told us in no uncertain terms to go away and come back at check in time . So we did had a walk around the town some lunch and returned same lady showed us to the room which was fine but she certainly needs a bit of training in how to greet people .

Staff were very friendly and super helpful. Location great, right on the beach with ocean views.

Only thing is it’s on the main road and the traffic is very loud. At breakfast the chef put a chilli sauce on the toast and not great for a morning meal. Perhaps offer to us and rather put on side. You only get one coffee with your breakfast… would be nice to have had the option of unlimited coffee at least or juice.

Fantastically located in St James with a quick walk (1km) down to Kalk Bay, this was perfect for us. We felt very safe, found parking easily right outside on the street. The breakfast was phenomenal and the staff went out of their way to cater for our needs. The room was cozy and they have thought of everything, from in room snack options (paid extra) to a beach bag and towels and warm gowns and hot water bottles for the winter. We don’t know why this guest house isn’t 5 Star. It was fantastic.

I loved Sonnekus! I booked a different room but was upgraded to a beautiful sea facing room. Staff were amazing and went out of their way to assist with absolutely everything! I booked an in room massage which was out of this world. Honestly my new favourite getaway spot and I'll definitely be back with my husband.

I was in room 3 and just found the bathroom to be quite dark but everything else was so great that I don't even think it's worth complaining about.

Shout out to Emma and Jean-Claude who were so welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The coffee and breakfast was amazing, as were the home made cookies in the room (a lovely touch). The hotel is in an amazing location, a short walk from the amenities and shops in Kalk bay and opposite a beach.

The traffic noise from the room is quite loud as the hotel is on the main road.
