From the moment we made our booking, the hospitality was top-notch. The team went out of their way to make us feel welcome—even calling to check on us when we were running late, which was such a thoughtful touch. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get—no surprises, just a beautiful, peaceful setting that feels like a true escape. The space is well-equipped with everything you could need, and for anything extra, the shops are just a few minutes away. The natural surroundings are a dream. The calming river, towering trees, and even the chance to spot a few monkeys all come together to create a tranquil, unforgettable atmosphere. River Rock is more than just a place to stay—it's an experience I won’t forget. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful location. The setting is absolutely stunning, and the Fish Eagle Cottage was tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel very well looked after throughout our stay. It's a safe and peaceful place the perfect escape from the city. Great cafés, restaurants, and beautiful nature are all within easy reach. We will definitely be back for another visit, thank you so much!

Loved that we were safe but also felt like we were the only people at the lodge. Vaal river is a few meters away as well and makes for pretty pictures. Great comfy bed and super close to town and the Rivershed shopping center. A must try for couples looking to just shut off.

Unit did not have a smart tv - only basic cable channels. Even without wifi one can connect your own device to watch sport or a movie on this. Does get cold but there are electric blankets.

We did not order breakfast, so we will not be able to comment. The location was perfect and not too far from home. We will definitely book again and although the chalet was beautiful and neat, we will try a cabin on the river, next time. The chalet was actually perfect this time around as we didn't spend a lot of time at the lodge but explored the town. River Rock is the perfect choice for a breakaway and the team are very welcoming and friendly.

Beautiful location near swimmingpool and lapa. Quite and peacefull. The staff were vriendly and very helpful. Comfortable beds, pillows just right. The room had a electric blanket and aircon which were a big plus during this cold weather. Thank you for a wonderful weekend

The place is serene, good for when you want to disconnect from the world and just be one with nature. It’s a good place to spend with your loved one, my partner and I enjoyed it so much and we would really come back. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant

The flies, mosquitoes and insects. I’m afraid of spiders and i was paranoid the first day because my partner killed one big spider upon our arrival. After that it was better. The insect repellent spray really helped

The staff were friendly and hands-on. The cottage was lovely and sunny and the surroundings tranquil.

The gas stove only had one working burner and it took 36 minutes to heat 2 cups of water for coffee. I also didn't like the fact that there is no toilet in the en-suite bathroom - the toilet is in a 2nd bathroom leading off the lounge. The first night we had a few issues but our host was excellent in resolving them.

Great location. Easy to find and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The unit had all the comforts we needed and was very clean and comfy. We liked the Privacy of the unit we stayed in.(Unit 12)

Better lightning at the barbecue. There is alight, but to low for the light to reach the barbecue area, Normal dining type table and chairs outside on the patio. The barstool type chairs are not comfortable for shorter people.

We stayed in the Hummingbird 7 unit which was a gorgeous setting on the river. The unit has a fully equipped kitchen and lots of heating (heater, blankets and elec blanket) to stay warm on the very cold nights! We had such a lovely stay, we will definitely be back. Friendly warning: take a 5L bottle of water to make tea/coffee in the morning (the water pipes can freeze overnight)
