The location is amazing! Waking up in the morning to zebras outside your window is just an unforgettable experience. The owners have taken great care to think about the needs of their guests and it really shows. the rooms are really well designed and the services and staff are great. We ordered a picnic basket of lunch and set it up on their private beach, and as they are listed to 24 guests on the whole island, we were the only ones on the beach, it was perfect. And the Zebras! there are freely roaming around the island and only takes 5 mins to find them (if they are not already grazing outside your room). You can get very close as they are quite gentle, but they are still wild animals so don't get too close. Probably the best place we stayed on the whole garden route. They also have a very informative website that helps you prepare for your stay.

We wish we had booked to stay for longer!

One of the highlights of our trip was staying at Stanley island. From getting on the boat to the island, to checking out, the whole experience was amazing. All the facilities are modern, clean and beautifully appointed. The rooms are well equipped, stylish and comfortable. The food is delicious with outstanding service. Best of all, the Zebras are the stars of the show. The heard of 7 Zebras come to the garden area outside the room every day, such an incredible experience to have your morning coffee while watching these graceful animals.

Absolutely everything was fantastic such a beautiful place. Had amazing attentive staff who were polite and helpful and informative. Spent time chatting and making us feel very welcome. quality of food was amazing Cute friendly little cat Great encounters with the zebras Lovely play areas for children to explore and swings over the most amazing views. Great novel way to travel on and off the island via the ferry A magical special place with a chilled vibe and lovely decor. My daughters would love one day to revisit and get married there. We could definitely have stayed longer.

It was a bit cold but no one can control the weather maybe one day we will be lucky enough to visit in summer

The location is absolutely amazing. Also, Celestine the manager is wonderful, she does everything in her power to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Waking up with the zebras is out of this world. Would definitely go back!

The restaurant is okay but not great and a little bit too expensive for what you get However, it is fair to mention that they had just begun with breakfast and dinner so there are some improvements that will probably be made in the future. We did a braai ourselves next to our room which was very nice so I would recommend doing that at least one night of your stay. Also the rooms were very luxurious but not always useful as the curtains were very light which made us wake up at sunrise.

The most incredible stay on Stanley Island. The rooms were decorated so beautifully, the grounds were amazing. The restaurant was lovely and food exceptional, really kind staff. And of course.. zebras! It was a truly special stay. The boat worked really well - we just sent a Whatsapp whenever we were ready to leave for the day, and by the time we walked to the jetty they were ready to go. We also did canoeing at sunset which was lovely, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Loved it all. Perfect as a couple with our 1 year old, and we will definitely be back with another one!

Literally the only thing I can think of is that the blinds need replacing - just because they were quite tricky to operate and seems quite old! When the rest of the decor is so beautiful and newly refurbished, it'd be good to have better blinds!

We were welcomed buy the best and very friendly ferrie drywer and Giovani made sure to give us excellent guidance and survice, the accommodation is excellent and the cleaning staff should also be mentioned, our breakfast was delivered with a big smile from Poppy and it was warm and tasty, thank you to the kitchen staff. Meagan, you can be very proud of your excellent staff and beautiful facilities! The King Fisher hunting at sunset and the zebra's added to the experience, a hidden gem in SA. A big thumbs up for Standley Island!!!

Stanley island was a unique experience - we totally loved it. Getting picked up by boat and driven to the island, checking into a very nice room, and enjoying the tranquility of the place. But the best part are the zebras strolling around the island. Very special. Good food and friendly staff rounded up our excellent experience. Thank you Stanley Island Team.

Nothing - all good

Waking up with the zebras in front of your unit was absolutely amazing. Probably reason enough to return despite many areas of improvement. Staff was wonderful and very helpful!

We had dirty bedsheets, empty shampoo dispensers and a broken chair in our unit. We were not provided with a do’s and don’ts on how to act around the zebras. By chance someone from staff told us that they don’t like little children (good to know!). Our little son was given a mattress on the floor. A little stretcher bed would have been nice. We also had a sweet cat visiting us regularly. However as an allergic to cats, it was definitely a challenge to live with all the cat hairs. The restaurant has a small menu card and even though we were the only guests, it took almost 1.5 hours to get our orders. Our kid was served first, finished and we still hadn’t our meals.

Amazing location, peaceful. Glorious views from your couch and bed. Perfect for sunrise. Tranquil surroundings and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was friendly and helpful. Zebra's , birds and bush buck were amazing to see.

Breakfast was not good. Coffee was almost undrinkable. Would not recommend getting breakfast. We asked for dessert in our room and they arrived very late and the Malva pudding was burnt. There shouldn't be a free roaming cat on such a property. They will kill birds, also it harassed you for attention and food.

Stanley Island is a true hidden gem! Every moment of our short stay was magical, from the ferry trip, the beautiful, peaceful decor in the rooms to walking under the twinkling lights on the pathways for our delicious dinner at Stowaway restaurant! We will definitely be back! (PS - the photo's cannot capture the beauty of this island, you need to see it for yourself)
