This was our second stay from 7 years ago. The staff were great, the breakfast was very good with varied continental choices every day and warm options to order. The room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, loved the bath towel warmers and heated bathroom floors, also nice to have the fireplace in the winter. Fantastic views over the vineyards. Great location with walking routes to at least 6 different wineries. Could walk to dinner at Zorgvliet (3 dining room options), Le Pommier, and Tokara before dark with Uber back home. Hiking options aside from the vineyard walking route. We hiked at the Banhoek Conservancy (Old Bethlehem homestead), free access and pretty safe to park - 2 attendants at the gate. We hiked there twice as there are numerous trails (not well signposted but they crisscross all over so you cannot get lost), saw lots of birds, Oryx and heard the baboons but did not encounter them (we were assured no dangerous animals). Lots of locals collecting firewood since it is winter and they are all friendly especially the kids love to say hello. Peaceful stay for 5 days of hiking, wining and relaxing. If you do not want to leave for dinner they will make you cheese, fruit, charcuterie platters and sandwiches. Very well stocked minibar. Highly recommend the Junior Suite with Mountain Views at the back of the house, less road noise and large patio for warmer weather than we had!

The service is exceptional- staff are incredibly helpful and accommodating. The room service breakfast is a lovely experience. The gas fires in the rooms are very welcome given it can get quite chilly in SA in the winter.

The lodge is situated close to the road so we asked, and received, a room transfer which was greatly appreciated. Rooms 3 and 6 are at the back of the lodge and more luxuriously appointed. Our first room was lovely but we prefer our bathroom facilities to be completely closed off from our living/sleeping area- the louvre shutters and door are not for us. If we had remained in our original room, this would have been a very different review!

The location is perfect, walking distance to the many wine estates around it along walking tracks. The staff are lovely and attentive, it’s a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful outlook down the valley. Breakfast is a great assortment with also a cooked selection if you want, the coffee machine is accessible anytime. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and the bathroom is luxurious. Banhoek Lodge recommended a local driver, Christo, who drove us around to places further than walking distance, he’s a gem! So quiet and serene, we could easily spend a week here!

This place is incredible probably the best place I have personally ever stayed. The room was magnificent ,extremely hard to leave it. It's so.relaxing in the lodge but the rooms just make you relax. Complimentary popcorn and flapjacks were a lovely touch to bring even more class to an already classy establishment. Bed was amazing so comfy and soft. The views from room and bathroom with the big bath breathtaking The staff couldn't do enough for me and I had a ball. Breakfast was incredible also. I recommend this place 12 out of 10 it was that good. I would have loved to have stayed longer and I have already told a number of people about this place. It's a must if your looking for a place to stay

Absolutely gorgeous position and views beneath the Simonsberg Mntn. We had room no 6 –upstairs on the corner - view from inside little lounge and mini side patio gorgeous. Amazing staff. So friendly and helpful. Delish breakfasts. Zorgvliet - just next door (drive or walk there) for dinner - lovely. Such a great base to explore both Stellies and Franshhoek. Would def stay again and have already recommended to many friends.

If they could do solar plus inverter and batteries for back up in loadshedding that would be amazing.

Second time staying here and it was lovely to be back. The views are the most stunning thing about Banhoek. They literally take your breath away. Stunning room and huge bed. Breakfast can be served on your balcony for no extra charge which is gorgeous. Staff are very helpful and attentive.

The toiletries provided are quite basic. We didn’t have any body wash for the shower, only 2 bottles of shampoo? No conditioner. On both times we’ve stayed, there has been some kind of mess up with payments. Both times, I have been messaged after check out asking for extra payment because of faults on their side. Not great when you’re trying to enjoy your holiday and having to make bank payments over non-secure wifis.

- Breakfast was lovely, well presented with great variety - Rooms were spacious, well-kept, had a mini bar for snacks with beverages - Views from the room were spectacular - Walking trails with wine farms surrounding were a great way to get some steps in - Staff were friendly, attentive and always smiling and helpful.

This is both an outstanding lodge with exemplary staff!! This one of our truly best stays in all of our travels!! The room with its view of the vineyards and mountains along with the bathroom with its rain shower and large tub was awesome!! The staff was without a doubt the finest ever - ever present when needed for directions, suggestions of places to eat/see and the breakfasts were divine!!

Not one thing!! Even with the rolling blackouts we were always notified the day before of the affected times and each room had battery back ups.

We have stayed here before and simply love it! Most beautiful view in a very exclusive setting, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, breakfast on the balcony is the best way to start your day!

My only minor recommendation is to add more bottles of water complementary to the room, the ones that you give are very small and I think the price for this deserves some water :)

Good hotel and location for exploring the vineyards in stellenbosch and Franschhoek! The views from the rooms are really amazing, the breakfast is fresh and good! The shower and bathtub are excellent!

Unfortunately there’s no real possibility to hang the clothes, so you had to put the luggage on the floor, which would bother me if I would stay for longer than 2-3 days. A garbage bin would be nice as well! And a few people of the staff could be a little more welcoming and friendly!
