We had a superior room with a balcony which was quite comfortable and a good size. The bathroom was clean with fresh towels provided every day. The reception staff were very helpful. The hostal is in a lovely old building situated in the gothic quarter of barcelona city and was next to all the shops and good eating places.

I missed not having a hair drier. It was a little noisy because near our window there would be busking every afternoon and night however, most of the time, they were darn good performers. It always finished by 10pm at the latest and was quiet all night after that.

Location is superb! This hostel is better than some hotels we have been in. It's located 100 meters from Plaza Cataluna, in a beautiful pedestrian street.All landmarks are a walk away, but if you prefer to use the public transportation it's also very easy. We had a double comfort room with a balcony overlooking the street, that was spacious and very clean. Even though it was above a vivid street, at night it was quiet and great for a good night's rest. The service was great, everyone was very kind and helpful!!! We would definitely recommend it and hope to come back soon!

It would be easier if there is a landmark thru booking.com on how to find the property. I relied with google maps. It keeps on saying I arrived but the place is not the exact location instead it is in the front of the plaza. I asked several people but they do not know the hotel not until a friend (after 1 hour of looking for it on my own) called the property and that is the only time I found it. I could call the property my own but my Italy number seem do not work at the time. 2nd is, it would be nice too if you had hooks for the coats as I arrived in autumn and pre winter from other countries so I had many coats to hang and no where I can hang it inside the room.

Stylish, nice room, very helpful hand basin in the room, comfortable double bed, incredibly central. The staff are nice

No fridge in the room, no kitchen or common area with a fridge, a microwave or a kettle

The hotel was right in the middle of everything, it was perfectly located! You walk right outside and there are shops, restaurants, bus stops, and the metro 5 minutes within each other. The beds were comfy, bathroom was pretty, and everything was nicer than we expected. I like how they kept our keys when we left. All of the desk workers were very nice and kind no matter what time it was.

The walls were really thin. There was one night where the worker at the desk was extremely loud and kept us up all night.

Excellent location very close to Placa Catalunya; plenty of shops and bars and tourist exploration possible on foot from this location. Very handy having the 24 hour desk as some nights we were late in getting home. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Room very good. Lovely old building which we loved staying in - but looked and felt very modern on the inside. Get the day travel passes for Barcelona - available at the airport, during your stay - as this helps you get around on the very good and efficient metro system and very good value for money. My mate found some excellent vegan places in Barcelona - spoilt for choice really; some nearby to this hotel and others on the metro system (so get those cards) and so the Happy Cow App sent us to some wonderful places (although not vegan myself, I did 'go vegan' during our stay as it was most easy option -- wasn't disappointed).

Only the one little niggle - and that's probably us numpty Brits not working out the European/Catalan system (lol), but when we got to the hotel we did find it difficult to initially work out which floor the hotel actually was on and so we were up and down a bit trying to find it - luckily we didn't have big cases with us, only manageable hand luggage. However - once located it was well remembered - although I cannot remember the actual floor now I've got back home (sorry, my bad). Perhaps a little bit more obvious signage on the lift/outside door may help. Not a big problem in the end really.

Hostal Lausanne is in the old part of the city, surrounded by beautiful buildings. It was easy to walk to the cathedral and other attractions, and to find modest places to eat with lots of atmosphere.

There was nowhere to hang towels, clothes, dressing gowns etc. Hooks in the bathroom in particular would have been useful - and towels could then have been used for more than one day (therefore cutting costs and being more sustainable...)

The location was very central, just a 1-2 minute walk to Plaça Catalunya, which was very convenient. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They also allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. It’s a good option for short stays.

There were no hangers in the room to hang clothes, and this was also an issue in the bathroom. The shower had very limited space to place or hang items. Additionally, sound insulation was not great, which could be disturbing at times.

The hotel is beautiful and the style is very pretty. The beds were also really comfortable. What made it more amazing was the nice staff and the location.

The property is really really noisy. The walls are very thin so you can hear EVERYTHING. I read it in the reviews, but I thought it would be fine. However it was really noisy. Our room was next to the lobby so we would hear everything. At 7am the receptionist would change shifts and (obviously) do a handover but it would wake us up. If you’re planning to stay long or you’re a light sleeper, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

I booked this hotel primarily because it fit my budget and had good reviews. It was an unexpected and delightful discovery that the location is absolutely unbeatable! Very convenient location to access any form of public transit, easy access to tons of shops and restaurants. Room was compact but functional and very clean. I had some hesitation about staying in a place with shared bathrooms but I did not ever have to wait to access a bathroom, and they were always very clean and well-stocked (and for added convenience there was a sink in our room). All of the staff I interacted with were very kind and helpful. My stay was part of a wonderful first visit to Barcelona!

Only 2 minor quibbles: 1) arriving late in the evening, we struggled to find the entrance as the signage from the street is very subtle (you have to buzz into the building). 2) staying in an inside room, window opened to the inner courtyard of the building but otherwise had poor air circulation. Minor complaints, and certainly not a detraction from an otherwise wonderful stay!
