We didn't like Villa Birdie, we LOVED it and recommend anyone going to San Sebastian stay here. It's like spending time at the beautiful home of a dear friend who lives in one of the best towns in the world. It's a grand house, in a premium location, just 20 easy minutes stroll from Gros, which is cheek-by-jowl with the Old Town of San Sebastian, but has a nicer beach and far fewer crowds... and possibly even better food. Its where the locals eat! The walk from Villa Birdie to the very far end of San Sebastian beach takes an hour, so its perfect in the morning before returning to Villa Birdie by taxi (6 euro) or number 13 bus (1.85 euro) to enjoy the continental breakfast of 3-courses and good coffee, by the pool. The walk, or the bus or taxi, is also great after dinner. The pool is excellent, with a fridge full of free drinks. So nice to come back in the afternoon to swim and rest. Then there's the rooms: great air-conditioning; coffee machine; big, fluffy, pillows; double-glazed windows that open, with double blinds; plenty of power points and hanging space; a free mini-bar; a safe; big, fluffy, towels in the bathroom, which also has good water pressure; a very comfy bed with quality manchester; and a big TV. But above all, there is Blanca! One of the many interesting things she told us during our check-in was the house used to be an embassy, which is appropriate because Blanca is an ambassador for San Sebastian! She grew up in the town and is very connected. She has a deep knowledge of, and love for, her Donastia, which she graciously shares. Her annotated maps are artefacts to be treasured and traded. Her recommendations for restaurants are gold. Don't waste time wandering around the old town looking for what you hope will be a good food experience. Don't trust Google reviews by tourists as ignorant as you. Just listen to Blanca, and let her book for you! And drop her name when you arrive - you will be treated like her friend.

Our time here was too short. But even when we had to leave to drive to Madrid, Blanca recommended a place to stop for lunch which was absolutely superb! If you are doing that drive, take her suggestion of the Hotel Landa at Burgos very seriously. Its an old castle, right by the motorway, about half way to Madrid, and the lunch was absolutely magnificent. Ambassador Blanca's reach extends even beyond her own lands!

Perfect ! Birdie truly represent its stars and ratings, to name a few of its great features: lovely rooms, great outdoor patio with fantastic pool, free parking, complimentary minibar and a great host : one of the best managed b&b s we recently visited! Really worth booking when going to San Sebastián!

Nothing negative, just some points to be taken into account: Breakfast is excellent but when staying multiple days it could have a bit more variation and you have to be aware that you stay in a local neighborhood where there is sometimes some background noise but everything else at the property is so great that these little things won’t withstand you having a great time !

A very cozy and comfortable villa with few rooms where you feel you’re staying among family. Our host gave us the warmest welcome you could get. Being a local and knowing her way around the region, she was really helpful and attentive to our needs. Didn’t know where to dine after a long drive from Madrid? Here’s a really good place serving comfort food at great value. Want to visit neighboring towns? Here’s a great spot to see and a restaurant to check out. We really felt like getting the bonus content of a San Sebastian trip. Hope to be back here again on a summer trip to take advantage of the delightful pool area.

We liked the calm, luxurious setting. Blanca is a most personable host. She was so helpful and offered us suggestions which we acted upon. Blanca has thought hard about how her home presents and the clientele's experience and she deserves straight 10s for all criteria. All the rooms are individually decorated but integrated and the whole house presentation is of a high standard. Our stay was most enjoyable, we felt very welcome and at home here. All our needs were met and more. The breakfast is cooked fresh and is lovely, served on the terrace overlooking the pool - delightful. Blanca even planned our departing trip en route to Santander and we enjoyed her suggestions which we would not have known about if it were not for Blanca's knowledge- thank you. If you are happy to commute to the beach and main town using the fantastic bus service which is but yards away and looking for a tranquil stay amongst fellow minded/ respectful guests then this is the place for you. You will not be disappointed

Blanca, the owner was lovely, she couldn't do enough to help! We have a convertible car and parking could be sticky if all rooms were full, but she insisted on leaving her car outside so ours could be parked safely behind the electric gates. She sat with us on arrival and went through local areas and restaurants to visit which was all very useful. She speaks superb English so we had no communication problems. The hotel it's self is fantastic, immaculately presented at all times, our room was lovely, very modern with a fantastic shower room, all very Boutique! There is a safe and free mini bar to use which was restocked each morning. Breakfast is amazing and will last you all day! The outside area is also spot on, lots of seating and loungers and the pool was very welcoming on a hot day. Blanca comes around offering free beer or a soft drink each day which was a lovely touch. In all, a superb hotel and definately worth looking up if staying in San Sebastian.

Everything! We visited while touring around Spain on our motorbikes, and Blanca was so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. You can tell that she is really passionate about the villa and San Sebastian. She gave us lots of useful information about how to get around, places to eat and visit, and about the history of the villa and the area. The villa is beautiful and spotlessly clean, we had a delicious, fresh breakfast in the mornings and really appreciated the cold drinks in the room included in the stay. It's an easy walk into San Sebastian and there are also regular buses which run from the next street so very accessible without needing to use your own transport. We will definitely return to beautiful San Sebastian and would love to stay at Villa Birdie again.

Our stay at Villa Birdie was truly amazing! The villa is exceptionally clean and cozy, providing a perfect place to relax. The homemade breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and we loved enjoying them outside by the pool. The location is ideal, just a short walk from the bustling area where everything is happening, and the included parking was a great bonus. The highlight of our stay was our incredible host, Bianca. Her recommendations for places to visit and eat were spot on and made a huge difference in our experience. Without her insights, we wouldn't have had such a memorable trip. We will definitely be staying at Villa Birdie again. Thank you, Bianca, for being s' an outstanding host!

Everything about Villa Birdie was 100%, Blanca was just the perfect host, advised places to visit, restaurants to eat, bus to take to get to the city. She could not have been more accommodating and the time she took to advise us of everything that would help us utilise our time in San Sebastian to full advantage as we only 2 days. Breakfast was excellent, really helped set one up for the day. If we ever go back to San Sebastian this is the place we would wish to base ourselves. There was absolutely nothing to dislike

We liked everything. The decor is stunning. The cleanliness is exceptional. The location is great. It takes 25-30 minutes to walk into the centre. The private on site parking arrangements are fabulous. The owner, Blanca, could not have been more helpful, providing us with directions and recommendations and lots of interesting facts about her beautiful town. She was so lovely, kind and helpful and she helped to make our stay perfect as she welcomed us so warmly to her perfectly designed hotel. Thank you Blanca.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Great little hotel with on site secure parking. Great little breakfast freshly served to you. The owner, Blanco I believe, was superb, gave us great tips about the area, where to eat and drink and where to go. When we left she also told us of fabulous places to visit on route to Santander which we would have never had gone to. Thank you

We had two cloudy days of the three we were there so didn't get to use the sun beds or pool, so had to spend more time in the town bars eating pintxos (Tapas)
