The balcony; nice fragrance in the hotel; very quiet; the staff were very friendly; room cleaned daily; bed very comfortable; nice decor but looking old now
The breakfast was way overpriced for what was offered; no restaurant in hotel…not sure where the room service came from, but not good; the glass shower door kept siding off track; the bathroom door only opened half way..after 2 days they came and sanded off the bottom; had only hot water pot in room and powdered instant coffee; security light at door turned the room green at night and couldn’t be turned off; the desk staff were not accurate answering questions regarding Madrid attractions;

Staff was kind. The location is best; in the center but in a narrow and silent street. The entrance is locked so only guests can enter. Dining room is very beautiful.
They told me that they don’t accept €200 bills and asked me to go to the bank to change. That was really a shock for me. I was tired and I din’t know the place well. I went out but return soon telling them I cannot look for the bank and I am afraid I would not be able to find the hotel. Then the receptionist called a manager who made an exception and they accepted the money. Another thing was that there are no amenities, just body soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Located in a quiet side street in a good position just off the Gran Via. Very clean throughout. The beds were comfy and the air conditioning in the room was excellent (quiet but really efficient). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room wasn’t very large but it was equipped with everything you might need. Ironing board, hair dryer, safe, tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries and a well stocked minibar which seems to be run on an honesty basis. When we checked out we were asked if we’d had anything from the minibar. We’d only had 2 bottles of water and we weren’t charged for them. (I’m not sure if the snacks and alcoholic drinks would be the same though)
The entrance door is controlled using your room key. We checked out but the left our bags in the hotel as our flight wasn’t until later. The hotel collected our key and when we returned to pick up the bags we couldn’t get in. There is a buzzer but no one answered. Luckily someone came out and we were able to get in.

We’ve chosen this wonderful hotel due to his incredible location close to “Puerta del Sol” It was our first time at this hotel and for sure we will use “Casa de la Lirica” again. Special thanks to Señorita Elena from the reception, she was very professional and helpful in every aspect of our staying. Also special thanks to Señor German during our daily breakfast he did really a fantastic job helping us. I strongly recommend staying in this hotel…
Nothing, all was fantastic.

The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The location was absolutely perfect! I would definitely stay here again based on the location itself!
The room was fine, had everything we needed in a small space. The room was a little warm for our liking though. Even with the temp turned all the way down and fan on high it barley blew any air. We kept the window open and night and it was fine. We weren't there in the heat of the summer so it was manageable. The hair dryer fuse went out while I was blow drying my hair, as I was about to head downstairs in my pj's it turned back on. Again, not a big issue!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The room, elevators, lobby, etc. were clean. The hotel is centrally located to many of the attractions and districts. There is a also a nearby metro station. I will definitely stay here again.
It seemed WiFi was only available in the rooms not in the bar/breakfast area. We went to the hotel bar twice and our devices didn’t work. One night we went to the bar to have and specifically plan our next day in Madrid but we needed the internet to make those plans. I would hope that WiFi will be available in the common areas so people can work or plan their next excursion.

I had read some iffy reviews about this place and was a bit worried. But it was terrific. The street is quiet... almost too quiet, I thought at first. But zero worries. Many reviews talked about the stuffy rooms. We opened a window a bit in the evening and solved that problem. I realized that might still be a problem in summer.
The door jam on my room had some damage; they moved me to another room immediately. There was a confusion on my paymet... I had paid through a Eurostars corporate link and it wasn't in the local system, but they figured it out and refunded my extra payment immediately.

Excellent location for sightseeing with all the main tourist 'must sees' walkable. Set off a small side street off a main pedestrianised route between Gran Via and Plaza del Sol. Felt very safe in the locale. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Hotel public areas are immaculate and the main atrium is eyecatching. Breakfast choices are very wide and everything is fresh and beautifully presented. Staff all very pleasant and professional. For the quality of the location, rooms, food & staff I might have expected to pay a higher tariff. Would not hesitate to stay here again should I return to Madrid.
If I had to be picky, the room was perhaps a little on the small side but for a City break of maybe 2 or 3 nights, perfectly liveable. AC minimum temperature was 18 degrees which was higher than I would have preferred but Not a deal breaker.

Very cute lounging area near reception. Also, entry is controlled. If you haven’t checked in yet but need access, there’s a button you can press and staff is able to view you with a camera. It’s a good security measure. After checking in, you can use your room card to gain access to the hotel without having to press the entry button.
As other people have mentioned, there’s a green light in the room that is constantly on with no way of turning it off. Personally, I sleep with an eye mask so it doesn’t bother me, but I can see how it would bother other guests.

The hotel location was perfect, being in a quiet street within easy walking distance (2mins) to Puerta del Sol for access to the public transport. The bedroom and bathroom were large, and there was an extra seating area adjoining it. We arrived during the recent power cuts affecting all of Spain and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating despite all the challenges they were facing. We have stayed in Eurostars hotels before and we found this to be another great one.
