This is a quirky place to stay, in a good way. The grounds do look a bit unkemp, but the hotel and rooms are clean and spacious. There’s lots of parking on the side of the entrance road and round the side of the hotel; our motorcycles felt safe. The evening meal was offered as a fixed menu, ( as recited by the owner rather than a menu): tureen of soup with clams AND a tureen of traditional beans and sausage, then a choice of 3 or 4 mains. The beef cheeks were tasty. Simple deserts. A bottle of house red and water, coffee. All at a very reasonable price - €18 each. I suggest a vegetarian/vegan would be advised to ask in advance before committing, but don’t discount this place. There are lots of rooms - great for groups.

It does have a slightly old fashioned feel and unkempt gardens, but don’t let this put you off

The hospitality was excetptional. The manager openned the restaurant on the day of our arrival even hough it was closed on Sunday evenings. the food that was served up was splendid - freshly made Andalusian Gazpacho for the first course really woke up the taste buds and was hugely refreshing and the other courses which included an Astrurian dish with clams followed by organic chicken were very tasty and filling as there was an endless supply of fresh bread. We left some room for the desserts which were first class and beautifully presented. The meal was washed down with wine and juices for the children. All this (4 course meal and bottle of wine and soft drinks) for 20 euros per person. The manager, Bernard, talked to us in the evening about places of interest in the local area such as Las Medulas and gave us an entertaining lesson about the history of the Roman gold mines and then provided with us with a humorous hand drawn maps of places of interest. A great welcome!! The bedrooms were spacious with a huge ensuite bathroom which includes shower with a luxurious jacuzzi bath - the communual living room is very spacious and equiped with a microwave and fridge with a very large antique dining table and comfy sofas. The hotel also includes the use of a small swimming pool which cooled us down on arrival following a long drive in hot weather. I would highly recommend a swim in Lake Carucedo which is about a 15 - 20minute drive from the hotel.

The hotel is rural as its name suggest and is quiet, with helpful staff and good value for money.

It is quite far out from town, but we knew that and travelled back in on our own transport. The biggest downside was that the drains in our bathroom probably required to be cleaned.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it’s located on one of the main roads into Ponferrada. If you’re looking for somewhere for a night, it’s perfect.

It’s a little bit far from Ponferrada centre, but we knew this when booking. Also our bathroom only had a bath with a shower head attachment. Not a problem for one night though.

This place is a little gem. A beautiful old stone building renovated to provide sizable rooms. Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. They want you to enjoy your stay. They made a special effort to prepare us a plant based meal for dinner. Discover it for yourselves and enjoy.

We would have liked oats and plant based milk to be available for breakfast!

Authentic, very friendly staff, relaxed and quiet, great home made wine and food. Good for small families, couples etc. I used as a stopover. The owner kindly cooked me a meal on a Bank Holiday when all restaurants were closed.

I didn't need any air conditioning in June, but if very hot you'd need to ask for a fan. It's like struggling for identity, not corporate, just nice family people. You must like a dog wandering(I did) & forget the pool

The staff were so very kind! I was such for 2 days with a terrible cold and they took very good care of me. They brought me meals and left them outside my door. They found my lost hiking pole and made sure it got to my next location too!

Bernard the owner was very attentive. The place is quirky and different which makes for a lovely stay. It is well situated for a visit to Ponferrada. Bernard is very knowledgeable of the town and the region - use his wealth of knowledge

It was a lovely little hotel with really friendly staff. We were a group of friends travelling on motorcycles and we were welcomed and provided with a really good reasonably priced evening meal. A dip in the pool was lovely before dinner. They were very accommodating and worked hard to ensure we had good stay. Rooms were lovely. Something very different from the corporate type hotels but it is a 2 star hotel so facilities are limited and basic. Access to main roads really easy when we left which avoided the nightmare trip through the town that other friends encountered (they stayed in town).

Nothing really. It was just under 2 miles to Pontferrada so not really walking distance but we knew this when we booked. No parking charge but lots of rooms for all our motorbikes.

Every member of staff I met was friendly and helpful I arrived on bike after a looong ride and within minutes of getting there, the wonderful lady working that afternoon had a beer in my hand 😀 Dinner was amazing.. and great value Owner sat down and gave me a really educational introduction to the médulas . Went out of his way! And in wonderful English apologised many times for his english.. unnecessarily! My night here, sadly only one! Is definitely a highlight of my tour! The room was a little small. And it's too far to happily walk to town. This is really not important in this case tbh especially at this value

For the price, no negatives at all
